Release list
Gear Expansion 1.4.0 - Kawaii
Four cute new sets, plus a dagger for every material.
Materials
- Pastel Princess: Princess Gold from the Alloy Forge (gold, amethyst, and pink dye). Iron tier with the best enchantability in the mod, and a crown on the helmet. Weapons charm mobs into leaving you alone, each armor piece earns a villager discount, and the shield heals your pets. Set bonus Royal Court: your pets and iron golems get Strength and Regeneration, and villagers give a bigger discount.
- Jirai Kei: Heartbreak Ingots from the Alloy Forge (diamond, crying obsidian, and gunpowder). A glass cannon with twin bows and a heart. Weapons hit harder the lower your health, and the shield heals you when it blocks at low health. Set bonus Landmine: dropping below a third of your health sets off a heart burst that hurts and throws back nearby mobs.
- Magical Girl: Sparkle Gems from the Alloy Forge (diamond, amethyst, and glowstone). Diamond tier with a chest bow, a star, and glowing armor. Full swings at full health fire a Sparkle Beam, and the shield bounces projectiles back. Set bonus Transformation: press R to Transform for 30 seconds of Strength, Speed, Resistance, and Slow Falling.
- Fairy Kei: Fairy Ingots from the Alloy Forge (iron, feathers, and light blue dye). Light and quick, with little wings. Weapons make mobs float, each armor piece softens falls, and the shield stops knockback. Set bonus Daydream: double jump, and drift down gently while holding jump.
New weapon
- Daggers for every material: fast and light, with Backstab (50% more damage from behind).

Gear Expansion 1.3.0 - Elements
Three elemental materials: Frostite, Fulgurite, and Verdantite.
Materials
- Frostite: an ore in the packed and blue ice of Frozen Peaks and Ice Spikes. Weapons slow and freeze targets, the armor stops freezing and its boots walk on powder snow, and the shield slows attackers. Set bonus Permafrost: melee attackers are slowed, and sprinting freezes water underfoot.
- Fulgurite: lightning striking sand now fuses it into Fulgurite, which breaks into Fulgurite Shards. Critical hits chain lightning in the rain, the armor shrugs off lightning, and the shield shocks attackers. Set bonus Stormcaller: Speed and Strength in the rain.
- Verdantite: an ore in Lush Caves. The axe replants trees, the hoe and shovel work 3x3, bees leave the wearer alone, and the shield slowly repairs itself. Set bonus Overgrowth: plants nearby grow faster, and farming costs no hunger.
Changes
- The guidebook's materials map keeps each tier on one row, with Infernium straight below Titanium.
Requirements
Same as 1.2.x: Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric (Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3) or NeoForge 26.3.0.37-beta+, plus Architectury API 22.0.3+ and GeckoLib 5.5.7+. YACL, JEI, REI, Jade, and Modonomicon are optional. See the README for download links.

Three new materials from the deep: Obsidian, Prismarine, and Echo.
Materials
- Obsidian: Reinforced Obsidian from the Alloy Forge. Slow, very durable tools; heavy armor; a shield that blocks explosions from every side; and gear that survives explosions when dropped. Set bonus Blastproof: explosions near you break no blocks, and hurt you 60% less.
- Prismarine: ocean gear from Prismarine Scales. Weapons hit sea creatures harder, the armor breathes, swims, and mines underwater, and the shield pricks melee attackers. Set bonus Tidebound: Conduit Power in water or rain.
- Echo: an Alloy Forge alloy of echo shards, sculk, and iron. Tools mine without vibrations, boots step silently, and the shield gives attackers Darkness. Set bonus Silence: no vibrations at all while sneaking, and hostile mobs notice you from half as far. The 3D armor glows.

Gear Expansion 1.1.0 - Metals
Four new metals and an in-game guidebook.
Guidebook
- Gear Expansion Guide: with Modonomicon installed, craft an in-game guidebook from a book and either raw zinc or a zinc ingot. It covers every material, the Alloy Forge, set abilities, the HUD, and settings. Modonomicon is optional; without it, nothing changes.
Materials
- Silver: an iron-tier ore metal against the undead. Weapons deal extra damage to undead, armor takes less damage from them, and the shield knocks them back. Set bonus Blessed: Wither lasts half as long, and nearby undead glow.
- Steel: an Alloy Forge alloy of iron and coal. Plain and dependable, with about three times iron's durability and a very durable shield. Set bonus Hardened: extra armor toughness.
- Cobalt: a Nether ore with the fastest tools in the mod and a shield that blocks instantly. Set bonus Overdrive: mining blocks in quick succession builds up Haste, up to Haste II.
- Tungsten: a very rare ore at the bottom of the world. Slow, hard-hitting weapons; axes and spears knock targets back further; heavy armor with the most knockback resistance in the mod; a slow but sturdy shield. Set bonus Immovable: no knockback while sneaking and less explosion damage, plus the Ground Slam ability.
Changes
- Shift-clicking fuel into the Alloy Forge now fills the fuel slot first, since coal is also a steel ingredient.
Requirements
Same as 1.0.x: Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric (Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3) or NeoForge 26.3.0.37-beta+, plus Architectury API 22.0.3+ and GeckoLib 5.5.7+. YACL, JEI, REI, Jade, and Modonomicon are optional. Modonomicon 2.16.0 on NeoForge needs NeoForge 26.3.0.39-beta or newer. See the README for download links.

Gear Expansion 1.0.1
Finishes what 1.0 set out to do.
- JEI and REI: an Alloy Forge category lists every alloying recipe, with the cooking time, the faster time with a boost fuel, and the experience. REI needs to be installed on the server too for the recipes to show in multiplayer; JEI only needs to be on the client.
- Jade: looking at an Alloy Forge shows its inputs, fuel, progress, and result, and whether a boost fuel is burning.
- Settings sync: when you join a server, your game uses the server's settings while you're connected, so tooltips match what actually happens. Your own settings file is never changed, and your settings come back when you leave.
- Equip sounds: every armor set has its own equip sound.
Known issues
- REI 26.3.823 on NeoForge can crash shortly after joining a world, inside REI's own code. JEI works on both loaders.
- Jade 26.3.4 crashes on startup by itself, with or without Gear Expansion, on both loaders. Jade 26.3.3 (Fabric) and 26.3.1 (NeoForge) work.
Requirements
Same as 1.0.0: Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric (Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3) or NeoForge 26.3.0.37-beta+, plus Architectury API 22.0.3+ and GeckoLib 5.5.7+. YACL, JEI, REI, and Jade are optional. See the README for download links.

Gear Expansion 1.0.0
The first release, for Minecraft 26.3 on Fabric and NeoForge.
Materials
Nine materials, each with a sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, spear, 3D armor set, 3D shield, and a full set bonus:
- Zinc: a common early metal. Corrosion-proof gear (no durability loss in water). Set bonus Galvanized: Poison, Hunger, and Nausea last half as long.
- Verdigris: copper gear that oxidizes with use, from Fresh to Oxidized, trading speed for toughness. Wax it with honeycomb, scrape it with an axe. Set bonus Conductive: lightning is drawn to you, harmlessly, and charges you with Speed and Strength.
- Rose Gold: a gold and copper alloy with high enchantability that piglins treat as gold. Set bonus Lucky Charm: 25% more experience and better enchanting offers.
- Aluminum: smelted from Bauxite, which is richest in badlands and savannas. Fast attacks, armor that makes you quicker, and a shield that doesn't slow you. Set bonus Featherweight: less fall damage, stronger jumps, faster in water.
- Brass: a copper and zinc alloy. Weapons attack faster in combos. Set bonus Clockwork: moving and fighting wind a spring that gives Haste when full, and Spring Release dashes forward and knocks back mobs.
- Emerald: weapons deal 50% more damage to raiders, the pickaxe finds bonus experience, and armor adds Luck. Set bonus Merchant's Favor: Hero of the Village.
- Amethyst: crystal gear made from Resonant Crystals. Critical hits shatter over nearby mobs, the pickaxe chimes louder near more ore, and a perfectly timed block knocks attackers back. Set bonus Shatterguard: a crystal shell absorbs one hit, then regrows.
- Titanium: a rare deep ore with about twice diamond's durability. Set bonus Unbreakable Will: gear wears out half as fast, and low health grants Resistance.
- Infernium: a Nether ore, upgraded onto titanium gear with a template found in Bastion and Fortress chests. Fireproof gear that sets targets alight, a pickaxe that smelts what it mines, and fire-resistant armor. Set bonus Heat Core: swim in lava until the heat gauge fills, and Eruption sets nearby mobs alight.
Features
- Alloy Forge: a workstation for Brass and Rose Gold. Burns normal fuel, runs twice as fast on blaze powder or lava, gives experience, and works with hoppers.
- Set abilities on the Set Ability key (R by default), with meters above the hotbar.
- Advancements for every material.
- Creative tabs: Blocks, Tools, Combat, and Ingredients.
- Tooltips for item traits and set progress.
- Settings for nearly every value, in
config/gearexpansion.json5, with an in-game screen when YACL is installed. - Compatibility: common
c:tags for ores, ingots, nuggets, and storage blocks.
Requirements
Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric (Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3) or NeoForge 26.3.0.37-beta+, plus Architectury API 22.0.3+ and GeckoLib 5.5.7+. YACL 3.9.7+26.3 is optional and adds the in-game settings screen. See the README for download links.
