Technical: CDC Undo System

The undo system no longer stores full mesh copies. Instead, it:

1. Serializes the mesh into a deterministic byte buffer (no pointers)
2. Chunks the buffer using Gear hash (content-defined ~4KB boundaries)
3. Deduplicates chunks in a shared reference-counted store

Memory savings example (1M vertex / 2M face mesh):

• Old system: 10 snapshots × ~92MB = ~920MB
• CDC system: 50 snapshots with local edits ≈ ~130MB

Pre-release build for testing the new Lasso Cut Tool (edit_cut plugin).

New in this build

• Lasso Cut Tool — Draw a closed polyline to cut through mesh triangles and select the inside region
  • Q = cut and add to selection, W = subtract from selection
  • Delete = delete selected faces (standard MeshLab filter with undo/redo)
  • D / A / I = deselect all / select all / invert
  • C = clear polyline, Backspace = undo last point, Escape = clear polyline
• Dynart Tools toolbar — edit_cut appears in its own toolbar section after the filter toolbar
• Face deletion delegated to filter_select for proper undo/redo support

Installation

1. Extract the zip to a folder
2. Run meshlab.exe

Installation

Run the installer (MeshLab2025.07-windows_x86_64.exe) and follow the setup wizard. Includes VC++ Redistributable.
