Releases: Dyotson/ForzaHorizon1-ReImagined

v0.1.20

Choose a tag to compare

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 17 Oct 21:47

Hotfix: Windows builds no longer fail with an old ninja, and garage cameras run at the right speed.

  • Windows: the build stopped at about 24% with 'ninja.exe failed (error code 1)' when the launcher picked Visual Studio's bundled ninja, which is too old (multiple outputs aren't (yet?) supported by depslog) (#123). The launcher now uses a ninja 1.10 or newer and otherwise downloads its own.
  • Garage and showroom cameras moved too fast above 30 fps (#120, thanks @soconnor0919).

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.19

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 17 Oct 19:04

DLC check: the launcher tells you when a DLC package is damaged.

  • When you add DLC, the launcher now checks every 4 KB block of each package against the package's own checksums and warns which file is damaged (#86). A damaged Horizon Rally pack was behind the Kettle Hills freeze, and damaged DLC can also cause endless loading (#115). If you get a warning, use an intact copy of that pack.
  • The ZIPREAD line in forza.log now includes checksums of the data it couldn't decode, so such reports can be pinned down.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

Racing wheels.

Controls

  • Racing wheels (#4): any wheel your PC sees as a joystick (Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec, Moza…) now shows up in the game as the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, so Forza Horizon switches to its own wheel steering. Steering, throttle, brake, paddles and buttons are mapped automatically; keep the pedals released when the game starts so they're detected correctly.
  • Settings (launcher → Controls → Racing wheel): wheel mode (auto/on/off), rotation, deadzone, inverted steering or pedals, combined pedals, pedal curves, and button/axis overrides for wheels with unusual layouts.
  • Force feedback (approximate): a centring spring plus road feel from the game's wheel vibration, with a strength setting and an off switch. The original game only gives a wheel two vibration values, so this isn't full physics force feedback.
  • This was built and tested with a virtual wheel. Wheel owners: please tell us your wheel model and what works in #4.

Graphics

  • FSR 3 and DLSS never render the scene below 1280x720 (#110): at a 1080p output, Balanced and Performance now render at 720p. FSR 3 Performance at 1080p could crash.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.17

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 17 Oct 04:24

Hotfix: NVIDIA DLSS works again.

  • DLSS setup failed on every NVIDIA card with AttributeError: 'types.SimpleNamespace' object has no attribute 'gpu_vendor' (#107). Fixed; press Play again after updating.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.16

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 17 Oct 03:17

AMD FSR 3 temporal upscaling on every GPU, and faster render scaling on NVIDIA.

Graphics

  • AMD FSR 3 (temporal) (#51): pick it as the upscaling filter in the launcher, with Quality, Balanced, Performance or Native AA. It works on AMD, Intel and NVIDIA (Vulkan), reconstructs the scene from a lower resolution using depth, motion and jitter, and keeps the HUD at full resolution. If it can't start, the game falls back to plain scaling and says so in forza.log. Rain, night and transparencies are still being tuned; tell us what you see.
  • NVIDIA: render scale 2 and up are faster: scaled textures are written directly instead of through an extra copy (#104, 59.7 → 68.9 fps at 1440p on an RTX 5060 Ti, thanks @soconnor0919).

Launcher

  • The Language ID setting lists every language the game ships, e.g. 9 for Portuguese (#105).

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

Friends and chat, DLSS/DLAA on NVIDIA, ultrawide, and smoother frames.

Online

  • Friends (#92): press F8 (or hold the left stick press) to open the friends screen: add players by gamertag, accept or decline requests, remove or block. The game's friends list and the invite picker now show your real friends first. Friends are kept on the server.
  • Chat (#92): press F9 to message your party, your Horizon World or a friend. Messages are limited to 200 characters; blocks and mutes are respected.
  • Lobbies and Horizon Worlds now survive a restart of the public server (#93).

Graphics

  • DLSS / DLAA on NVIDIA (Vulkan) (#60, thanks @soconnor0919): pick it under Settings > Display. The launcher downloads NVIDIA's runtime and checks its hash; the option only appears on NVIDIA cards.
  • Ultrawide (#59, thanks @soconnor0919): native ultrawide rendering with a proportional, centered HUD under Settings > Display (screen heights that are a multiple of 720, e.g. 3440x1440; others fall back to 16:9), plus HUD safe-area and position sliders.
  • NVIDIA: fewer long stutters from readbacks: the game queues one frame less (#103, thanks @soconnor0919).
  • AMD: smoother frame pacing at high frame rates where the driver offers "FIFO latest ready" (#80). If you're on AMD with Windows, please send the present mode line from forza.log.
  • Car pictures at render scale 2 and 3 are filtered instead of keeping one sample per pixel (#96, thanks @soconnor0919).

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.14

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 17 Oct 00:40

Shadows on NVIDIA, a black car picture at render scale 3, and Windows build fixes.

Game

  • Missing car and tree shadows on NVIDIA (Vulkan) are fixed (#94 for #75, thanks @soconnor0919).
  • Render scale 3: a newly bought car's picture was saved black (#102).
  • Shader cache files are written completely before the game waits or exits, and repeated readback work is skipped in the default readback mode (#95, #97, related to #49, thanks @soconnor0919).

Launcher

  • Windows: the build no longer picks MSYS2/Cygwin tools (e.g. devkitPro's cmake from PATH), which broke paths into /home/... (#100).
  • No error box after closing the game normally (#98): Stop now asks the game to close before ending it, and the error box only shows for crashes, without the harmless log lines.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.13

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 16 Oct 19:06

Invites ask first and let you pick who to invite, free roam takes any car class, and laptops use the right GPU.

Online

  • Invites (#90): Invite Friends opens a search: type part of a gamertag, pick up to 4 players, press Start. When someone invites you, the game asks: hold Back + A (or Enter) to join, Back + B (or Esc) to ignore. Nothing happens without your yes. Older versions neither send nor get invites, so they can't pull anyone into a party any more.
  • Horizon World with any car (#6): online free roam accepts every car class, not only S.

Launcher

  • Laptops with two GPUs use the card chosen in Settings, and a dedicated GPU over the integrated one when nothing is chosen (#89). The log names the GPU in use.
  • Linux .tar.gz: "GLIBCXX_3.4.31 not found" when building is fixed (#87): the build tools and the game run with your system's libraries, not the launcher's.

Game

  • Horizon Rally, Kettle Hills: the road disappears and the game freezes (#86): a stuck read in the game's streaming no longer freezes the loader. If it happens, forza.log gets a ZIPREAD: line; please send it.
  • Car pictures in the garage and on the car card are refreshed when the game reuses their surfaces (#88, related to #50, thanks @soconnor0919).

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.12

Choose a tag to compare

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 16 Oct 13:43

Windows: the build tools download no longer fails with "certificate verify failed", and a crash in races is guarded.

Launcher

  • "URLError: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED ... unable to get local issuer certificate" on Windows when building (#85): the launcher now lets Windows check the certificate, as your browser does, instead of only the certificates Windows has already saved. If a check still fails, the message names the site and points at antivirus HTTPS scanning or a proxy.

Game

  • Random crash during races (#83): the game could release a loaded resource twice. That release is now guarded and logged (RESOURCE: in forza.log) instead of crashing. If you see such a line, please send the log.
  • Windows crash logs now name the game function for each frame.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.

v0.1.11

@Dyotson Dyotson released this 16 Oct 12:32

Invites work from free roam, and you can share photos to your storefront.

Online

  • Accepting an invite in free roam no longer closes the game (#81). The game restarts itself to join your friend, as on the Xbox 360: on Windows the launcher starts it again within a second, on Linux it restarts in place. Single Player still loads afterwards.
  • Photo storefront (#82): sharing a photo to My Shared Photos works (25 slots per player), and Browse Photos shows what players share. This is on the public server already; this version brings it to the server the launcher runs on your PC.

Game

  • Horizon Rally: "Failed to download required Xbox LIVE Marketplace data" means the Rally Expansion Pack is missing from your DLC folder (#79). The launcher now warns about it on the Play page, and forza.log lists the DLC the game found.
  • Car paint layers no longer go missing on a new install, e.g. a white wing showing blue (#77). This is the same cause as the black car pictures fixed in 0.1.10.

If you are on 0.1.9 or newer, the launcher offers this update by itself (About > Launcher updates). Help: Discord.
