@EDGW EDGW released this 06 Oct 16:48

Adds models.dev destinations and per-response token cost estimation, with default routing for 196 catalog providers and two Hub instances.

  • Preserve each response's model and usage, deduplicate delayed usage replays, and retry failed price lookups independently.
  • Separate billing snapshots, currency presentation, shared data retrieval, and request scheduling; preserve original billing currencies when conversion is unavailable.
  • Add a Linux installer with upgrade/removal support and correct selection of pre-releases.
  • Improve configuration merge validation and missing-file diagnostics, remove redundant catalog metadata, and clarify resume commands.

Validation: 51 unit tests and the distribution integration test passed; formatting and Clippy passed. Release CI builds macOS Apple Silicon and Linux x86_64/ARM64 archives, Debian packages, and SHA-256 checksums, and verifies Linux installation, upgrade, and removal.

What's Changed

  • Remove environment-sensitive tmux lifecycle and delayed daemon startup tests from the unit test suite. Keep core configuration, billing, argument handling, and package installation checks.
  • Fix tmux session cleanup after the upper process is forcibly terminated, including when the settings pane has focus. Use the pane that triggered the hook instead of the active pane.
  • Add Linux release archives for x86_64 and ARM64, including the executable, default configuration, documentation, license, and SHA-256 checksums.
  • Add Debian packages for amd64 and arm64 with automatically detected system library dependencies and dependencies on tmux, lsof, and CA certificates.
  • Add Linux default configuration discovery: explicit CC_PANEL_DEFAULTS_CONFIG, configuration beside the resolved executable, the XDG user data directory, /usr/local/share/codex-panel, then /usr/share/codex-panel. Invalid explicit paths and unreadable configurations produce errors instead of silently falling back.
  • Preserve user configuration separately from packaged defaults during upgrades.
  • Improve Codex CLI and tmux process errors with executable and operation details, including missing-command and permission diagnostics.
  • Update English and Chinese installation documentation for Linux and macOS, with Homebrew as the recommended installation method.
  • Extend release CI with native builds for both Linux architectures and Debian installation, upgrade, removal, and user configuration preservation checks.

Installation Notes

  • Linux packages are built on Ubuntu 24.04 and require compatible system libraries (glibc 2.39 or newer).
  • Codex CLI must be installed separately and support the daemon and --remote unix://; version 0.159.3 has been verified.
  • Debian upgrades require downloading and installing the new .deb; no APT repository is provided.
  • macOS Apple Silicon release archives remain available. Homebrew packaging is maintained separately.

This is a prerelease. Build artifacts and SHA-256 files are uploaded by the release workflow after publication.

Fixes

  • Fix default configuration discovery when launching through a symlink. The executable path is now canonicalized before locating destinations.toml, so configuration is read beside the actual executable. Relative symlinks and symlink chains are supported.
  • Preserve explicit configuration overrides through CC_PANEL_DEFAULTS_CONFIG.

Added

  • Add codex-panel --panel-version, which prints codex-panel v0.1.1 and exits without loading configuration or starting Codex.
  • Other startup arguments continue to pass through to Codex; --version still reports the Codex CLI version.

Documentation and Validation

  • Update the English and Chinese READMEs to explain symlink configuration discovery and the panel version command.
  • All 44 unit tests pass, including the symlink configuration regression test. CLI checks cover version output, symlink invocation, independence from configuration, and argument passthrough.

Download

The release workflow provides the Apple Silicon macOS archive codex-panel-aarch64-apple-darwin.tar.gz and its .sha256 checksum file. After extracting the archive, keep the default destinations.toml beside the actual executable.
