EDGEdeck 0.27.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 17:17
  • REDdeck is now EDGEdeck, part of the EDGE platform: a mod manager that will not stay tied to one engine. It is a new extension, edgemodders.edgedeck, so it installs next to REDdeck rather than updating it, and nothing carries over: before switching, turn every mod off and deploy in REDdeck, then uninstall it.
  • Every name follows: the commands and settings are edgedeck.*, the library folder is %USERPROFILE%\EDGEdeck, the game folder's manifest is edgedeck.deployment.json, the MCP tools are edgedeck_*, and the command line is edgedeck. On npm it is @edgemodders/edgedeck-mcp.
  • New icon and banner. The repository is now Edgemodders/EDGEdeck and the docs are at https://edgemodders.github.io/EDGEdeck/.
  • Nexus download links work. The forwarder that the registry runs for an nxm link passed the link to PowerShell as code, where the & between its parameters is an error, so a "Mod manager download" button flashed a console window and did nothing. The link is now quoted, EDGEdeck rewrites an older registration of its own when it starts, and the log notes each link it receives.
  • An empty Mods view has a Handle download links button after sign-in; the step was only in the Set up group of a non-empty list.
  • The log starts with the version, and says at each start where Nexus download links go.
  • Who handles Nexus links was never known at start. The registry was read, but the answer was stored in a state object that the first refresh had already replaced, so the Set up step and the handler update worked from nothing. Found because 0.27.1's handler update never ran on the owner's PC.
  • The whole Nexus link arrives. VS Code hands over the vscode:// link's query decoded, so the nxm link's own &expires=...&user_id=... read as separate parameters and only ...?key=... reached the download, which Nexus refused (Invalid parameter 'expires'). Everything after url= is the link now; the UI test checks it through VS Code's own Uri.
  • 0.27.0 to 0.27.2 were test builds only, never published. Entries below this one are REDdeck's.

  • A Nexus Mods download. Each release now also has REDdeck-<version>-nexus.zip: the extension's .vsix, a README with the install steps, and the licenses, for REDdeck's page on Nexus Mods. The extension itself does not change.

  • @edgemodders/reddeck-mcp is on npm from this version. 0.26.4's release stopped before npm (the publish step read its folder as a GitHub repository); the extension itself went out as usual. Nothing else changes.

  • REDdeck's tools on npm: @edgemodders/reddeck-mcp. The MCP server and the command line, without VS Code: npx -y @edgemodders/reddeck-mcp serves the 14 reddeck_* tools over stdio (for Claude Code: claude mcp add reddeck -- npx -y @edgemodders/reddeck-mcp), and reddeck is the command line. Same library and deployer as the extension, and the same version: every REDdeck release publishes both. Windows only.
  • bin/reddeck-mcp.mjs starts the server on its own, as reddeck mcp does.

  • Deploy and Undo deploy check that the game is closed. Cyberpunk 2077 keeps mod files open while it runs, so Windows refused to replace or delete them and a deploy stopped partway with an EPERM error. REDdeck now says the game is running and waits for "The game is closed now"; the command line refuses with the same reason.
  • A file in use is explained. If a file in the game folder is still locked during a deploy (another program holding it), the message names the file, says to close what has it open, and that what was done so far is kept.

  • Import from Vortex finds mods by the names you know. REDdeck named Vortex mods after their download file, so Cyber Engine Tweaks showed as "CET 1.37.1 - Scripting fixes" and a search for its name found nothing. Common framework mods now show their usual name (Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, RED4ext, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware and others, by Nexus mod id), and the search also matches the download's own name, the version and the Nexus id. Mods imported this way get the usual name in the library too.

  • modlist.txt follows the archives you add and remove. It was written once and then left alone, so an archive added later deployed but was missing from the load order list. Deploy now rewrites it whenever it should say something else; your next deploy fixes an out-of-date one (it shows as one change waiting).
  • Add mod takes a single mod file, such as an .archive, .reds or .lua, not only a zip, 7z or rar. REDdeck puts it where its type goes, and asks when it cannot tell. The command line's add does the same.

  • Loadouts you switch between. A loadout is a named set of which mods are on and which version of each (what other managers call a profile). One is always active: the Mods view shows it, turning mods on or off saves into it, and Deploy uses it. Your library's state now becomes the loadout Default. The library, sections and load order are shared.
  • Switch loadout in the Mods view's title bar makes another one active (deploy afterwards); the view's header names the active one.
  • The REDdeck page's Loadout dropdown shows any loadout. One that is not active can be edited there (checkboxes, section boxes, versions) without touching the game or the Mods view; a banner says so, and Make active switches to it. Buttons beside the dropdown make a new loadout (a copy, or every mod off), rename, export, import and delete one.
  • Save as new loadout, Export the active loadout and Import a loadout in the Mods view's menu. Loadout files from earlier versions load as loadouts; the order they carried is no longer applied.
  • The command line's loadout load and the MCP tool make a loadout active by name, or import a file and make it active; list marks the active one.

Sections fold: click a section's name or arrow on the mods page to fold it to its header. Folded sections stay folded across restarts; a search or filter opens them while it lasts.

The action icons are a soft grey: they brighten on the row under the mouse, and the one under the pointer turns yellow (red for Remove).
