Reading Partner v0.23.0
Conversations no longer wait on each other, a book lives in exactly one topic, and links can be handed to Lumen.
Conversations run side by side. Every AI turn in the app used to queue on one line, so a meals plan that stalled left the book chat and the brief stuck on "Thinking" too. Each conversation now has its own line: turns in different conversations run at the same time, turns in the same conversation still take their turn. A turn has an overall time limit (30 minutes for the brief and meals, 15 elsewhere) and ends with an error instead of spinning forever. Stop now ends a turn that is waiting on a slow lookup.
Talking while the AI answers. In the brief and meals chats, a message sent while the AI is still answering is folded into the running answer, as it already was in book chats. Before, it was silently dropped. If you press Stop first, the next turn answers it.
Stop keeps what was done. When you stop a turn, any text it wrote and any receipts such as "Updated your profile" stay in the conversation and are saved, in book chats and in the brief and meals.
A turn interrupted by the app being closed no longer repeats the previous answer when the app reopens.
One topic per book. A book, paper or article now belongs to exactly one topic. Holding a book on the phone, or opening its menu on the iPad and desktop, offers Move to… and Delete; Move to… lists your topics and moves the file with its progress, highlights and conversation. Deleting removes the book and everything about it on every device; there is no longer a separate "delete conversation" or "remove from topic". Importing a file that is already in another topic leaves it there and says where it is.
Topics sync book by book. When two devices changed the same topic, one side's whole topic used to win, so a book removed on the phone could come back and a book added on the desktop could disappear. Each book in a topic now merges on its own, and taking a book off a topic is recorded so an offline device cannot bring it back.
Links at Lumen's door. Hold Lumen (right-click on the desktop) for a menu with Voice and Text. Text opens a typed chat; paste a link there and it is read in, then you pick the topic. X posts are read with the links they point at, long posts and X Articles become a book, and GitHub repos, book repos, Google Drive files and PDF links are read as documents. Reading the full text of a long X post needs the desktop app.
Meals: when a weekly plan fails a check, only the meals that failed are rewritten instead of the whole week, so planning finishes sooner.
Chat transcripts no longer scroll on their own while a reply is written; a round arrow above the composer jumps to the latest message.
Stored data
turn-log.jsonlin the app data folder: one line per step of each AI turn (start, queued, first byte, rounds, how it ended). Kept on this device only, never synced, trimmed to the last 5,000 lines.deleted-books.jsonlgainstopic-filelines recording a book taken off or put back on a topic.link-intakes/<id>.json: what a link brought in, what was skipped and why.info-x-posts.json: X posts kept as sources.
Known limitations
- Update every device in the same round. A device still on 0.22 merges a topic as a whole, and can drop a book that a 0.23 device just added to that topic (the book stays in the library).
- A tool that writes data and hangs still holds its conversation until it returns; Stop and the time limit cannot end it.
- Sheets on the phone close by tapping outside them, not by swiping down.
- Syncing topics between two devices was tested in code, not on two real devices.
