Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.7

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 15 Oct 11:45

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Controls

  • No more lost inputs: the controller and the keyboard are now read about every millisecond instead of once per frame. A quick press made between two frames - or while the game waits for your opponent's input - now always reaches the game.

Launcher

  • Players online: the number of players online is shown at the top, next to "online".
  • Private lobbies in the list: private lobbies are now listed with a PRIVATE tag. Join asks for the lobby's code. Don't want to see them? Untick Show private lobbies above the list.
  • Quick vote: players with at least 10 games get a small vote in the corner - Do you want to keep rage? Yes or No. One vote per account.

Ranked

  • Next game within 30 seconds: between the games of a ranked set, the Next game button shows a countdown. If a player does not press it within 30 seconds, he loses the set. If nobody presses it, the set ends without MMR change.

Fair play: below 60 FPS

  • The game now checks whether your PC can hold 60 frames per second in the fight (waiting for a slow opponent does not count against you). If one player's game ran below 60 FPS in more than 30 % of a fight, the game still counts, but there is no rematch: both players see whose game was too slow, and the set ends (a ranked set that is not decided yet ends without MMR change).
  • If it says it is your game: lower the resolution (Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS) and close other programs while you play.

Security

  • Check that your download is the original: in PowerShell Get-FileHash <file> must print the SHA-256 below.
  • Every file was scanned on VirusTotal (links below). The launcher downloads updates only from this GitHub page, and the game is built on your PC from your own copy of Tekken 6.
  • Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" on the first start of the launcher (it is not code-signed): click More info -> Run anyway. Updates do not ask again.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.6

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 15 Oct 07:43

Everybody needs this update - the launcher connects to our new, much faster server. The old one was too small for so many players: this morning the launcher showed the server "offline" for many of you. Your account, MMR, ranks and match history moved with it.

New server

  • The lobby server now runs on a machine with many times the power of the old one.
  • Launchers before 2.1.6 can no longer connect. The launcher offers this update by itself; if it says "offline", just install the update.

Update fix

  • "The downloaded file is damaged (checksum mismatch)" can no longer stay until a restart: the launcher asks GitHub again for the checksum first.

The game itself did not change.

Security

  • Check that your download is the original: in PowerShell Get-FileHash <file> must print the SHA-256 below.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 14 Oct 22:17

Launcher update only - the game itself did not change, so you can still play against players who have not updated yet. The launcher offers the update and installs it in a few seconds.

Display: Borderless window for everyone

  • With this update every player is switched to Borderless window once.
  • Why: many players had stutter in their matches and did not know why - most of them were on Fullscreen, the old default. Borderless window still covers the whole screen; the frames are shown in step with your display.
  • Liked Fullscreen better? Switch it back any time in Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS -> Display. Your choice stays.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.4

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 14 Oct 16:19

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Costumes

  • Choose the P1 or P2 costume of every character (Profile -> Costume, under the characters). Your opponent sees the costume you picked. Both players may use the same character in the same costume.
  • The default is now the P1 costume (all matches used the P2 costume before).

Before a match

  • Who is ready: a player who pressed Ready, Rematch or Next game - or accepted a found match - gets an orange frame and READY on the match card. No more guessing whether the opponent already pressed Rematch.
  • "Match found" sound: a gong (and the taskbar flashes) when a match is found while the launcher is in the background. Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS: Gong / your own sound file / Off.
  • If the opponent plays over Wi-Fi or on Linux, the match card says that the match might lag.

Practice frame data

  • The numbers now come from the game itself: correct values for moves that go into or come out of a stance (Hwoarang flamingo, Steve flicker / ducking, Leo, Lars and others).
  • Whiffed attacks show their recovery; hits that knock down or launch show KD.
  • The practice now runs at a steady 60 frames per second like an online match (its frames used to jump between ~11 and ~21 ms with the sound device, so timing felt different from online).

Launcher

  • Patch notes button (bottom right) when there is no update.
  • The update button says Installing... after the download instead of staying at 100 %.
  • Linux / Proton (not supported, but it should start now): the launcher uses a graphics mode that Linux drivers can run.

Security

  • Check that your download is the original: in PowerShell Get-FileHash <file> must print the SHA-256 below.
  • Every file was scanned on VirusTotal (links below). The launcher downloads updates only from this GitHub page, and the game is built on your PC from your own copy of Tekken 6.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 14 Oct 00:00

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

After a match

  • Rematch from the controller: on the result screen press A / Cross (or START) - no mouse needed. On an arcade stick or joystick it is the button you set as "A / Cross" or "Start" in CONTROLS.
  • Ranked and player matches: you leave the lobby by yourself when the set is decided or the opponent left, and you can press Search again with the controller.

Practice frame data

  • Strings now show the right numbers: every hit of a string gets its own frame advantage (the first hit of a string used to show a wrong value and the next ones nothing).
  • On block works for all attacks.

Launcher

  • Display: Fullscreen / Borderless window / Window (Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS). If fullscreen stutters or tears on your PC, try Borderless window.
  • While the game is starting after you opened the launcher, the pages now say so clearly ("Preparing the game - compiling shaders..."); searching, lobbies and the practice unlock when it is ready. The practice can no longer be started before that (two games loading at once slowed PCs down a lot).
  • The login form no longer shows when the launcher remembers your account - it just signs you in.
  • Keyboard: a Select key (Backspace; Num - in the arrows layout; your own key in Custom).

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 13 Oct 20:56

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Smooth matches at high ping

  • Matches at 100+ ms ping no longer run in slow motion. With input delay 1 the game could only run 3 frames ahead of the opponent's inputs; at about 130 ms ping it had to wait in nearly every frame (around 43 fps and stutter). It may now run up to 6 frames ahead: the same match runs at 59-60 fps.
  • Matches at normal ping play as before.
  • On a weak PC at very high ping, raise the input delay (Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS) if the fight stutters.

Practice

  • Frame data: in the practice the game shows the startup of your attack and the frame advantage on hit and on block (set the dummy to guard in the practice menu, START). It can be turned off on the PRACTICE page.
    Not meaningful yet for throws and for hits that launch or knock down.
  • Choose the stage of the practice (PRACTICE page), or leave it on Random.

Launcher

  • A missing builder (package not extracted whole, or files removed by an antivirus) is now reported as such instead of "exit code 9009".

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 13 Oct 18:55

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Stability

  • Fixed a crash and a freeze during fights. The game could save or restore its state for a rollback while one of its helper threads was still in the middle of a job; the fight then either froze or the game closed. It now waits for that thread first (a few milliseconds, only when needed).

No more hitches from shaders

  • The first matches after an update or a fresh install no longer stutter. The game used to prepare each new graphics effect the moment it first appeared - a pause of about a quarter of a second each time, and many of them in the first matches on every new stage and character.
  • The package now carries the prepared list for all stages and characters; the launcher adds it to yours and the game prepares everything while it starts.
  • The very first start after this update takes longer (10 seconds to about a minute, depending on your PC) - once. Later starts are as fast as before.
  • If something new still shows up in a match, the game no longer stops for it.

New in the launcher

  • PRACTICE tab: train alone - choose your character and the opponent's and start.
  • The practice button on RANKED / PLAYER MATCH / in a lobby is now called Wait in practice (it practices while a match is searched, as before).
  • CONTROLS: a hint for arcade stick players whose inputs do not work - try the Gamepad setting for now.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.1.0

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 13 Oct 15:15

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

If you got "The opponent has a different version of the game" although both of you were up to date: this update repairs it. Earlier updates only carried the files that had changed since the release before, so an installation that skipped a release kept old parts. From now on every update carries everything.

Smoother fights

  • Stutter at the start of round 1 is gone: a leftover diagnostic searched the game's memory every 10th frame through the round call and the first seconds of the fight - in every match, for everyone.
  • After a hitch of the opponent the game recovers at once instead of stuttering for several seconds.
  • The timing between the two players is corrected in small steps instead of one long frame every few seconds.

Sound

  • Sounds and music no longer disappear after several matches in a row.
  • A sound that starts during a rollback no longer starts twice.

Matches

  • Faster rematch: about 2 seconds less from the Rematch button to the loading screen.
  • Character intros are not skipped by themselves. Either player can skip them with START - for both.
  • The loading screen shows the names of your characters.
  • No more false "Different game state" warning.

New in the launcher

  • Picture quality (Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS): Standard, High (sharp on Full HD and 1440p screens) or Ultra (4K). Players with different settings can play each other. Higher needs a stronger graphics card.
  • Choose the stage in a lobby (not ranked): the host picks it, or leaves it on Random.
  • Number of players under the leaderboard's region filter.
  • Send the game's log to the developers (Profile -> ONLINE SETTINGS), once an hour - please use it right after a match in which something went wrong.
  • "Different version" now tells you what to do: update, or build the game again.
  • The game's window is called "Tekken 6 Online".

Fixes

  • The launcher no longer crashes when it is closed.
  • A game that has already played a match starts the next one from exactly the same state as a freshly started game.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.0.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 12 Oct 19:45

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Fixes

  • Stutter in the first seconds of a round: the two games now line up their timing during the intro and the round call, before "Fight" - not during the first seconds of the round.
  • Ranked lobby (a lobby somebody created): sets are first to 2 as before, but the lobby stays open after the set - the next set starts with Rematch. Only the ranked search closes after a set.

New

  • Ping in the lobby: as soon as a second player joins a lobby, both see the ping between them, before anyone presses Ready.
  • Match history of other players: click a row of the leaderboard to see that player's last matches.
  • Input delay 0 (Profile): your character answers at once, but your opponent gets a rollback at every input of yours - use it on a low ping only. Not used in ranked matches (they use 1).
  • Vibration is off by default now (like motion blur); both can be switched in Profile.

Known

  • Sound can still disappear after several matches. If it happens, please send runs\online_1\tekken6.log and tekken6.1.log.

Tekken 6 Native Online v2.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@Ekspym Ekspym released this 12 Oct 18:41

Both players need this version. The launcher offers the update; the game is then updated by itself in a few seconds.

Fixes

  • Freeze at the start of a match: the first match after starting the game froze for about 0.7 s when the loading changed to the intro (and froze the opponent with it). Gone. A shorter hitch at the same place remains - it is the game's own work.
  • Rematch: the stage stays the same, the match does not have to be accepted again, and the launcher shows the match card ("The rematch is starting…") instead of the lobby.

New

  • Motion blur option (Profile -> online settings), off by default: no smear around a character in fast moves.
  • Vibration option (practice and offline play; online matches never vibrate).
  • Ranked set - random stage: whoever lost the last game gets "Next game – random stage" next to "Next game".

Known

  • Sound can still disappear from the second match on (character sounds, then the music). This version writes the reason to the log: if it happens to you, please send runs\online_1\tekken6.log.
