Ring Out v1.2.1-ell.12 (experimental builds)
Pre-release
Pre-release
RingOut beta release with launcher-native controller remapping and a refined compact-window layout.
What changed:
- Remap all 20 GameCube controls from Settings → Configure buttons.
- Capture buttons and axes directly from the selected SDL controller.
- Save accepted mappings immediately while preserving unrelated Dolphin profile settings; the previous profile is retained as
GCPadNew.ini.bak. - Restore the default mapping through a confirmation step.
- Add transparent character artwork to the bottom-right of the launcher.
- Reserve a protected content lane so text and dividers do not cross the artwork, including at the 900×600 minimum size.
- Add real end-of-page padding and redesign the remapping modal with a padded header, scrolling mapping list, fixed status/actions, and a consistently visible Done button.
- Make both package builders and the launcher self-test require the artwork asset.
Validation:
- Native Linux build and 45/45 CTests passed, including the local two-peer netplay protocol test.
- Final 900×600 Game files, Settings, and controller-remapping UI smokes passed with an attached DualSense Edge.
- The tagged Windows workflow cross-built the launcher/runtime/helper/recompiler, validated the ZIP, and passed the packaged first-run DolRecomp/CMake/Ninja/Clang/LLD module build/load smoke under Wine.
- The tagged Linux workflow passed 45/45 runtime tests, static DolRecomp tests, AppImage assembly, and the clean Ubuntu 24.04 no-FUSE self-test.
This is still an experimental rollback/netplay prerelease. Physical two-machine, cross-platform, strict-NAT, and impaired-network validation remain outstanding. Online Room uses Dolphin's hosted peer-to-peer traversal service and has no relay, authentication, encryption, room password, or IP-hiding mode.
No game data is included. Supply a legally obtained USA GameCube disc image with ID GRSEAF.
