DX-focused release introducing deterministic formatting and inspection tooling for Strata values.
This release improves developer ergonomics and debugging capabilities without changing any canonical encoding, hashing, or value semantics.
No breaking changes. No byte-level changes.
Highlights
- Deterministic formatter for Strata values
- CLI fmt command for inspecting .st and .scb files
- Support for pretty and ast formatting modes
- Cross-language formatter parity (Rust + JavaScript)
- Additional CLI tests and formatter unit tests
- Improved documentation and developer tooling
Formatter
The new fmt command allows structured inspection of Strata data.
Commands
strata fmt input.st
strata fmt input.scb
strata fmt --format pretty input.scb
strata fmt --format ast input.scb
Behavior
.st -> parsed -> canonically encoded -> decoded -> formatted
.scb -> decoded -> formatted
This ensures formatting always reflects canonical truth.
Canonical Guarantees
Canonical guarantees remain unchanged from v0.3.x.
Same values -> same bytes -> same hashes.
This release introduces developer tooling only and does not modify the core format.
