@Emillock Emillock released this 21 Oct 08:24

True co-op for The Witcher 3 Remastered (patch 5.01). In a Witcher Online party, the leader's world counts for everyone:

  • Shared monsters. Everyone fights the leader's monsters. On a member's screen their copies walk, run, attack the player they're really attacking and fire their arrows and spit. Members' sword hits and signs count in the leader's world, the monsters' hits land on members (after their own armor), and monsters die for everyone. More than about 60 m from the leader, your own world's monsters take over again.
  • Shared quest progress. Journal objectives and the game's hidden quest facts follow the leader (only forward), and members follow the leader's tracked quest.
  • Dialogue together. The leader's dialogue choices and skips apply to members in the same scene.
  • Signs show. You see each other's Igni, Aard, Axii, Yrden and Quen, not only the casting gesture.

Pre-release: tested by automated bots with two game copies on one PC, also over real Steam between two accounts. Not yet tested on two different PCs. Please report what works and what doesn't in Issues.

Known limits:

  • A monster's copy picks its own attack: same moment, same target, maybe a different swing.
  • Dodges, taunts and jump-backs, spells' area effects and summons don't show on copies yet.
  • Burning, bleeding and knockdown are passed on, but unverified in normal play.
  • Loot stays per player. Gwent duels between players are switched off.

Install: close the game, then copy the contents of the zip into your Witcher 3 folder (the one with bin and content). Coming from 0.1.0, copy over it and replace the files. The host needs Java 21+. Steam must be running.
Play: the host runs bin\w3coop\Host co-op.cmd and invites friends. Friends run bin\w3coop\Join co-op.cmd. Then everyone starts the game and loads a save. To share monsters and quests, walk up to a friend's character and pick "Join party". W3Coop\README.txt has the details, troubleshooting and how to uninstall.

Everyone in a party needs 0.2.0. Doesn't work with Custom Player Characters or Chill Out installed. Unsubscribe from the Workshop mod "Fast travel from anywhere", which stops every mod from loading on Remastered.

First public build of Witcher Online for The Witcher 3 Remastered (patch 5.01), with a Steam relay so friends can join without opening ports.

Pre-release: it has been tested with two game copies on one PC, not yet between two real Steam accounts on different PCs. Please report what works and what doesn't in Issues.

What you get: players see each other in their own worlds and can travel together. Each player keeps their own save; enemies, quests and loot are not shared yet. Gwent duels between players are switched off.

Install: close the game, then copy the contents of the zip into your Witcher 3 folder (the one with bin and content). The host needs Java 21+. Steam must be running.
Play: the host runs bin\w3coop\Host co-op.cmd and invites friends. Friends run bin\w3coop\Join co-op.cmd. Then everyone starts the game and loads a save. W3Coop\README.txt has the details, troubleshooting and how to uninstall.

Doesn't work with Custom Player Characters or Chill Out installed. Unsubscribe from the Workshop mod "Fast travel from anywhere", which stops every mod from loading on Remastered.
