Sidee 0.1.4.2 generates connection credentials using the brand declared by the
TV. This addresses a compatibility gap reported on Toshiba VIDAA firmware:
the TV advertises brand=tos, while earlier versions always used his.

Changes

  • Read the brand identifier from the TV's UPnP descriptor and use it in the
client identity, dynamic username and password derivation.
  • Save the brand with the accepted pairing and reuse it when reconnecting or
refreshing tokens. Existing sessions without a brand keep the his default.
  • Retain static-first pairing, bounded profile fallback and PIN confirmation
from 0.1.4.1. Static login credentials remain unchanged.
  • The Windows ZIP builder also accepts an explicit output destination.
  • Updated Windows, Apple Silicon and Intel Mac downloads include these changes.

Toshiba trial

The reported Toshiba Z670 advertises transport_protocol=3290 and brand=tos.
Firmware: V0000.09.60N.Q0615 / N.Q0615.9.61.00-a20260727u. The official
VIDAA app can control this TV; Sidee 0.1.4.1 was refused before a PIN appeared.

Close the previous Sidee version and install the new download. On Windows,
extract the ZIP into a new folder and open start-windows.bat. On macOS, install
the matching Apple Silicon (arm64) or Intel (x64) DMG. The macOS app remains
unsigned and requires macOS 15 or later.

Find the TV and request a code. If pairing succeeds, try installing one app
and reconnecting after closing Sidee. If it fails, report the entire error and
the authentication result lines. Keep PINs and saved pairing credentials private.

Toshiba compatibility remains experimental. Automated checks verify brand
handling, existing sessions, PIN confirmation and packaged startup. The affected
TVs must still confirm that the new credentials permit pairing and tile installation.

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 15:55

Sidee 0.1.4.1 updates the experimental Toshiba VIDAA connection flow after
reports that 0.1.4 was refused with rc=5 on every authentication profile.

Changes

  • Fresh pairing tries static authentication first. A previously working
profile still takes priority when pairing the same TV again.
  • Static connections use a separate short MQTT identifier while preserving
the identity already authorized in TV topics.
  • Automatic background reconnect attempts are disabled. Each documented
authentication profile is attempted once after an explicit refusal.
  • A failed connection now includes the TV's advertised manufacturer, model,
brand and transport protocol when available, without including MAC addresses,
serial numbers, saved tokens or PINs.
  • Windows and both macOS builds include these changes. Release automation
accepts four-part hotfix versions; macOS keeps Apple's three-part version
fields and records the complete Sidee version separately.

Download and test

Download the package for your computer below. On Windows, close the previous
Sidee launcher, extract the ZIP into a new folder, restart the TV once, then
open start-windows.bat. On macOS, install the appropriate Apple Silicon
(arm64) or Intel (x64) DMG. The macOS app remains unsigned and requires
macOS 15 or later.

Find the TV and request a pairing code. If the PIN appears, enter it, try
installing one app, and verify reconnection after closing Sidee. If it fails,
report the entire new error, both TV models and firmware versions, and whether
the official VIDAA app still controls the TVs after the failure.

Toshiba compatibility remains experimental. The reported Z670 firmware is
V0000.09.60N.Q0615 / N.Q0615.9.61.00-a20260727u. The connection changes pass
automated checks, but need confirmation on the affected TVs; this release
does not promise that every Toshiba model can pair or install tiles.

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 15:17

Sidee 0.1.4 adds experimental Toshiba VIDAA connection support while retaining
the app installation and interface updates from 0.1.3.

Changes

  • When a TV rejects the initial connection with rc=4 or rc=5, Sidee now tries
the documented static and alternative VIDAA authentication profiles.
  • Static firmware can request its PIN through a TV-state query. Pairing without
tokens requires PIN acceptance and a successful app-list response.
  • Sidee saves the working profile and preserves the accepted client identity
when reconnecting or refreshing tokens. Static pairings do not attempt token
refresh; a rejected pairing asks for a new PIN.
  • Toshiba descriptors containing VIDAA identifiers can be discovered without
requiring Hisense branding. Connection errors report the attempted profiles.

Toshiba testing

The Toshiba Z670 with V0000.09.60N.Q0615 / N.Q0615.9.61.00-a20260727u is a
reported target. Its official VIDAA app can pair and control it. Sidee pairing
and tile installation on this model still need confirmation on a real TV;
this release does not claim compatibility with every Toshiba model.

Download the Windows ZIP or the macOS package for your computer. Extract the
Windows download into a new folder and open start-windows.bat. On macOS,
install the appropriate Apple Silicon (arm64) or Intel (x64) DMG. Find your
TV, request its PIN, then try installing one app and reconnecting after closing
Sidee. The macOS app remains unsigned and requires macOS 15 or later.

For a failed trial, report the dashboard error and the authentication
profile/result lines. Keep PINs, pairing files, tokens, and dashboard access
links private.

Automated checks cover credential vectors, profile fallback, PIN confirmation,
saved sessions, token refresh, browser interactions, and packaged startup.
Hardware pairing and app installation require a real TV.

Fixed

  • Sidee starts without a preselected TV. Find TV uses the address discovered on your own network; a saved pairing is restored only after that TV has been found and selected.
  • Empty or failed searches clear stale TV addresses. Responses from a previous selection cannot change the current TV's state.
  • The phone QR uses the selected TV's LAN route, supports networks without Internet, and clears stale QR codes when the network changes or a request fails.
  • VIDAA discovery accepts UPnP descriptors with an implicit HTTP port.
  • Jellyfin rejects localhost and loopback addresses that would refer to the TV. Server paths and IPv6 ports are parsed correctly.
  • Nuvio uses its VIDAA entry point. Installation confirmation checks both the tile ID and its current URL.

Start on Windows

Download sidee-windows.zip, choose Extract all, and open start-windows.bat in the extracted Sidee folder. Everything else happens in the dashboard.

Validation

104 Python tests and 12 dashboard interaction tests passed. The Windows ZIP contains only the 19 required app files; no saved pairing, local runtime, tests or personal configuration is included.

  • Nuvio and Jellyfin presets.
  • A locally generated QR code for using the dashboard on your phone.
  • Automatic reuse of saved pairings.

Validation

82 automated tests passed. Tested on VIDAA firmware U09.60 / V0000.09.60A.Q0707. This is the first beta; compatibility with other firmware versions can vary.
