It's meant to be an m-dash, as per the correct punctuation of the article title - I googled how to do them in Markdown and it was suggested that numerical entities were the way to go.

If it proves problematic, we can replace it with two hyphens or a hyphen with a space either side.

Option-Shift-minus should do it on a Mac (—). Once inserted, it's just a unicode character that we should be able to display properly.

Maybe I need to do it in an IDE - it looks like a hyphen in vim 😞

Were you planning for this to be displayed as three separate lines in the browser? If so, then I believe the first two lines should end in \.

It's confusing, because in Unix the backslash means "continue on same line"!
