Cobblemon: Colonies building guide
🏗️ Wiki: Building with the Structurize Tag Tool Welcome to the Cobblemon:Colonies building guide!
In our mod, certain buildings (like the Gym, Pasture, and Daycare) require specific boundaries to function. We define these boundaries using the Structurize Tag Tool. Instead of hardcoding radii, the AI and BlockEntities read these tags to know exactly where to spawn Pokémon, where to lock doors, and where to paste battle arenas!
🛠️ How to Use the Tag Tool (The Basics) If you are creating your own blueprints, you must tag your buildings before you scan them into an NBT/Blueprint file.
Place the Hut Block: Place your specific building block (e.g., Gym Hut) first. Never move this block after tagging! Tags are saved relative to the Hut.
Get the Tool: Equip the Tag Tool from the Structurize creative menu.
Prep the Tool: You need to Sneak + Right-Click the hut block with the tool to start tagging, it must be the hut block not a tag block.
Set the Tag Name: Right-click the air with the tool. A text box will appear. Type the required tag exactly as it appears below (all lowercase) and press Enter.
Apply the Tag: Left-click the block in your building you want to tag.
🏷️ Required Tags by Building Here are the specific tags you must use for each building type to make them work correctly.
⚔️ 1. The Gym (GymBlockEntity) The Gym uses tags to dictate where the Gym Leader's arena is pasted and where the entrance doors are.
The Arena Bounds: This area must be exactly 48 blocks in length and 43 blocks in width and at least 10 blocks in height this area defines the 3D box where the .nbt arena structure is pasted and where the mod checks for the Challenger and Gym Leader.
Tag structure_a: The bottom corner block of the arena space.
Tag structure_b: The completely opposite, top diagonal corner block of the arena space. (Ensure this box is large enough to fit the arena!)
The Locking Doors: When a battle ends or before the battle starts, the Gym locks the doors so the player cannot enter.
Tag door_a: One corner of your doorway.
Tag door_b: The opposite corner of your doorway.
Note: The mod will fill this box with Oxidized Copper when locked, and Air when the battle is started.
🌾 2. The Pasture (PastureBlockEntity) The Pasture uses tags to create a "grazing zone." Any Pokémon assigned to the Pasture will spawn in the center of this zone and be forced to stay inside it. Using the 2 points the mod will create a circle area that the Pokémon cannot leave.
The Grazing Bounds:
Tag pasture_point_a: The bottom corner block of your fenced-in pasture.
Tag pasture_point_b: The top diagonal corner block of the pasture. (Make sure point_b is high enough so flying/tall Pokémon have vertical space!)
Restricted Areas (Optional):
Tag pasture_no_access: Apply this tag to any specific blocks within the boundary that you do not want Pokémon walking on (like a feeding trough or decorative hazard). If a Pokémon touches this block, it is teleported back to the center.
🍼 3. The Daycare (DaycareBlockEntity) The Daycare functions almost identically to the Pasture but uses its own specific tags. This defines where the breeding Pokémon roam while the Attendant watches them.
The Play Area Bounds:
Tag daycare_point_a: The bottom corner block of the Daycare yard.
Tag daycare_point_b: The top diagonal corner block of the Daycare yard.
Restricted Areas (Optional):
Tag daycare_no_access: Apply this to blocks the Pokémon shouldn't stand on.
🚫 Buildings That Do Not Require Custom Tags If you are building blueprints for the following roles, you do not need to use the Structurize Tag Tool. Their AI calculates boundaries dynamically based on the standard MineColonies building corners or player locations:
Harvester (HarvesterAI): The Harvester automatically scans a box based on the buildings boundaries.
Science Lab (ScientistAI): The Scientist wanders to a randomly calculated coordinate just outside the bounds of the lab to "dig."
Trainer Academy (EVTrainerAI): The EV Trainer simply walks up to the block and interacts with it.
Pokémon Guard (PokemonGuardAI): The Guard's partner Pokémon (Growlithe) automatically spawns near the Guard and follows them dynamically.
💡 Important Builder Tips Height Matters! When creating a bounding box (like structure_a to structure_b), remember that it is a 3D volume. If you put both points on the floor, your area will only be 1 block tall. Always put the _b tag high up in the air (e.g., on the ceiling or top of a fence post).
Use "Marker" Blocks: Invisible tags can be hard to keep track of while building. Place a bright block (like Magenta Wool) at your corners, tag the wool, and then break/replace the wool with your actual building block right before you scan. The tag will transfer seamlessly to the final block!
