Ok what if we made forensics like a real thing and not just tacked onto det

• new job with an interest in forensics, maybe some special equipment only they can use
• glove fiber matching for real tracking down gloved people and not the annoying bullshit we have now
• hair color matching (clue coin)
• digital forensics (flareguy vision)

forensic scientist can look close at things to see trace evidence (hairs, fingerprints, glove fibers. hide hairs with hats and fingerprints with gloves)
can look at blood puddles to assess splatter and see what caused it (light passive bleeding, heavy passive bleeding, recent sharp wound, recent pierce wound)
can look at footprints (maybe they and det are the only ones who can see them?) to see the direction of movement, what shoes/bare feet theyre from, etc.
