Pictogram Parser 1.2.0

@ErickDoppler ErickDoppler released this 19 Oct 21:26

Extract pictograms in full colour, exactly as the preview shows them.

New

  • Full Color extraction. The Extraction section has three output modes, as radio buttons in place of the old Invert checkbox:
    • Black and White - pixels darker than Threshold become ink (1-bit), as before.
    • Inverted Black and White - light pixels become ink, for light pictograms on a dark background. This is what the Invert checkbox did.
    • Full Color - the cell exactly as the preview shows it, with the current effect applied: Original keeps the sheet's own colours, and Sketch, Emboss or a colour channel are saved as they look. Cell inset and Output W/H still apply; Threshold is greyed out.
  • Mixed lists. One list can hold both kinds. Thumbnails show the real colours, and each entry says color or 1-bit.
  • Colour export.
    • Save as Bitmap writes 24-bit BMPs for colour pictograms (1-bit ones are unchanged).
    • Save as C array writes colour pictograms as RGB565 uint16_t arrays.

Changed

  • C header layout. Every array now has a _FORMAT define (<FILE>_FORMAT_MONO1 or <FILE>_FORMAT_RGB565). The lookup table struct gains a format field before data, and data is now const void *. Code that uses the table from a 1.x header needs updating; the arrays themselves are unchanged for black-and-white pictograms.

Extract pictograms from sheets that have their own grid drawn in, without the grid lines coming along.

New

  • Cell inset. A new slider above Threshold in the Extraction section cuts that many pixels (0-64) off every side of each cell before extracting. Snap the app's grid onto the drawn lines, then raise the inset until the lines fall outside the extracted area. It never shrinks a cell to nothing: at least one pixel always remains.
  • See what gets cut. While you move the slider, the margins it will cut off are shaded red on the unmarked cells for a moment. On marked cells, the green fill now covers only the inset area, so it always shows exactly what will be extracted.

The first release: load a sheet of pictograms, lay a grid over it, pick the cells, and export them as 1-bit C arrays or bitmaps.

Features

  • Grid you can fit by hand. Set rows, columns, cell size and offset, or fit the grid to the whole image. Drag any row or column border to move it along the whole line; hold Shift to respace every line evenly. Move the whole grid with a right-drag, Ctrl+drag or the arrow keys.
  • Pick cells by clicking, or drag across them. Marked cells are numbered in the order they will be extracted.
  • Preprocessing before extraction: Original, Greyscale, Black & White, Red / Green / Blue channel, Sketch, Emboss and Edges. The Strength slider adjusts whatever suits the effect: saturation, contrast, threshold, brightness, pencil width, depth or edge sensitivity.
  • Extraction to any output size (or the cell's own size), with a threshold and an invert switch. Pictograms are named <prefix><number>.
  • Save as C array: one header with MSB-first packed rows, _WIDTH / _HEIGHT defines, an ASCII preview of every row and a lookup table.
  • Save as Bitmap: one 1-bit .bmp per pictogram.
