PhoneCam 1.0
Turn your iPhone into a wireless webcam for your PC — over Wi‑Fi, nothing to install on the phone.
Use your phone's much better camera in Discord, Zoom, OBS, Teams, or any app that takes a webcam. The phone just opens a link in Safari — no phone app, no cable, no account, no cloud.
Download & run
- Download
PhoneCam-Portable.zipbelow and unzip it anywhere. - Double‑click
PhoneCam.exe. (If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" → More info → Run anyway; it's unsigned, not harmful.) - Allow the Windows Firewall prompt on Private networks (first time only).
- On the iPhone, install the certificate once (Safari only allows the camera over a trusted HTTPS connection) — open the
http://…:8080/address shown in the window, install the profile, then Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings → turn ON "PhoneCam Local CA". - Scan the QR code in Safari → Start → allow the camera. The live picture appears in the PhoneCam window. ✅
Phone and PC must be on the same Wi‑Fi network. Full step‑by‑step is in the README.
Use it in Discord / Zoom / Teams (optional)
Install a virtual camera — run install_unitycapture.ps1 once as Admin (no OBS needed), or use OBS Studio — then pick "Unity Video Capture" (or "OBS Virtual Camera") as your camera. Only video is sent; keep using your normal mic.
Highlights
- 📱 No phone app — Safari + WebRTC.
- 🖥️ No OBS, no C++ build required for the core — a small Python relay + an embedded‑browser preview keep the picture smooth at high fps.
- 🎥 Virtual‑camera bridge feeds the phone's video straight into Discord/Zoom/Teams.
- 🔍 iOS‑style zoom & lens switching (0.5× / 1× / 2×), 60 fps at 720p on most iPhones, bitrate/FPS/resolution controls, flash, mirror, rotate, framing grid, image adjustments.
- 🔒 Runs entirely on your LAN — no cloud, no account, no telemetry. The local CA private key never leaves your PC and is never shipped.
Notes
- Windows 10/11. The portable folder ships its own Python — nothing else to install.
- Source is in this repo (
run_app.ps1to run from source with Python 3.12).
