Update of Web Map Item in JSON not Recognized

I have an ExB application that references an existing Web Map. I made a copy of the web map with a new name in the the same environment and folder as the ExB application. I now want to edit the JSON to point to the new Web Map.

So, using AGO-Assistant, I updated the item label and the id to the new web map. However, it is NOT recognized when opening the Experience Builder application in Edit mode.

I have cleared the browser cache, used a different browser, etc. What more do I need to do to have this edit be recognized?

Hey @kattraks updating JSON of an ExB app is a two-step process. Editing the JSON in the JSON Editor tab only updates the published JSON. You have to also update the draft / edit mode JSON from the Resources:

Hei @lcoleman-99 ,thanks, that help a lot to understand the difference between JSON Editor and Ressources/config.json. But we have the same trouble that the json code mess up when we edit it in ArcGIS Assistant. But if I try to download the file, I get an error message. How do you downloaded the file?

If you can't download the json there, are you able to open it at all? If so, maybe you can just copy/paste from the viewer into an external code editor, make the changes, save as sonfig.json, then re-upload to overwrite that original config/config.json.

Hi @lcoleman-99, yes, that's what I did in the end. Copy and paste the code, save it as a file, and then upload it again. I can upload it without any problems, so I don't understand why I can't download it. But anyway, in the end it worked by copying the code.

I did exactly as you suggested, but for some reason my config got corrupted and now it does not open anymore.

Can I copy what is currently in the JSON Editor and paste it into the config/config.json file in Resources? Is it basically the same structure, or are there differences between them that could cause additional issues?

Hi @feliciafrancap the json structure is the same. But I would avoid copy/pasting. Instead I'd recommend copy/pasting the main json from the JSON Editor into an IDE locally - save it as config.json (needs to be a json file type). Then delete the config.json resource all together and upload the local config.json you just saved.
