FluxGeo v1.4-beta7 — Construct, Explore, and Connect Geometry

FluxGeo v1.4-beta7 is a major update to our dynamic geometry environment, building on the 2D engine, Discovery, and early 3D foundation introduced in beta5. With several substantial development milestones completed since that release, we're moving directly to beta7.

This release brings independent construction layers, an interactive Construction Protocol, new point-centered movement, deeper connections between 2D and 3D geometry, a much stronger expression-editing experience, smaller project files, native file thumbnails, and extensive improvements to mathematical stability and interaction.

Highlights

Independent construction layers

Organize separate constructions into layers while keeping editing and selection focused on the active layer. Objects in other layers remain protected from unintended interaction, and each layer can use its own point-label namespace. Layer controls are integrated into the workspace and project workflow.

Construction Protocol and playback

Explore how a construction was built through a dedicated, ordered Construction Protocol. Browse construction steps, use playback, and inspect how geometric objects and dependencies were introduced. Desktop and web interfaces now include improved access to the protocol, with localized presentation and export support.

2D and 3D, working more closely together

The Spatial environment has grown beyond its initial beta5 foundation. Planar points, lines, circles, and polygon constructions can now participate in supported 3D workflows through linked references, without duplicating their underlying 2D ownership. New cross-view presentation and projection tools make it easier to inspect spatial constructions alongside the plane. Spatial picking, touch interaction, circle tools, and intersection continuity have also received substantial refinement.

A more expressive geometry workspace

The expression system has been consolidated around a shared mathematical-language frontend, with improved handling of formulas, scalar definitions, slider dependencies, and command entry. Inline expression editing, definitions in Algebra, and construction descriptions are now more consistent.

Free-point coordinates entered in Object Properties behave naturally: numeric values or constant arithmetic move the point while keeping it draggable; genuine dependent expressions retain their live mathematical definition. Undo, redo, clearing expressions, and project persistence have been strengthened across native and web property workflows.

Native thumbnails and compact project files

FluxGeo can now store optional preview information with saved projects. The native packages include file-manager thumbnail integration for Linux and Windows, allowing supported saved .fgeo constructions to display previews rather than only generic file icons once the relevant file association is configured.

Project-file storage and recovery have also received attention, reducing unnecessary file size while protecting construction data, snapshots, and compatibility with existing projects.

Geometry and reliability

  • More stable regular-polygon vertices and generated construction references during motion.
  • Improved tangency, circle and conic construction handling, including several specialized restoration and intersection-continuity cases.
  • Better preservation of GeoGebra-imported constructions, source presentation, layers, and supported live expressions.
  • More reliable undo/redo, project restoration, construction recipes, and semantic dependencies.
  • Refined snapping and hit testing, including a read-only pointer-query path that avoids unnecessary geometry mutations.
  • More dependable polygon rendering, rectangle selection, staged construction tools, and mobile reference picking.

Interaction, appearance, and presentation

  • Move Around Point: a dedicated interaction for rotating selected geometry around a chosen center.
  • New polar, isometric, and dot-grid options, alongside improvements to grid and rendering performance.
  • Better organization of Algebra, Object Properties, global settings, and construction descriptions.
  • Category-specific Active Tool Style colors: changing a line or circle's outline no longer unexpectedly recolors its defining points. Circle fill remains governed by Global Style.
  • Improved numeric display preferences, labels, and visibility controls.
  • Continued desktop, web, and mobile interface refinements, including Spatial and Construction Protocol access.

Performance

FluxGeo continues to prioritize immediate, fluid interaction even in constructions with many dependencies. This update reduces redundant snapping and rendering work and improves the handling of continuous movement and dependent constructions, while preserving the mathematical correctness of the underlying geometry.

Downloads

The native desktop release includes:

  • Linux x86_64 — portable tar.gz archive.
  • Windows x86_64 — standard OpenGL build.
  • Windows x86_64 Software OpenGL — compatibility package for systems without suitable hardware OpenGL support.

Each package includes the native updater helper. The release provides SHA-256 checksums and a separately signed Ed25519 update manifest. Keep each extracted application together with its supplied libraries, fonts, and assets.

The web/PWA deployment is managed separately from these native desktop packages.

Beta status and known limitations

This remains a beta release. Advanced intersections—especially certain conic branch-collision or contact-history scenarios—can still have limitations, and the growing 3D workflow remains an area of active refinement. Improvements to particular intersection and tangency cases should not be interpreted as a guarantee of uninterrupted identity through every possible degeneracy.

FluxMath, the broader mathematical environment planned for v1.5, is not part of this v1.4 desktop release.

Thank you for exploring FluxGeo and sharing challenging constructions, compatibility reports, and feedback.

October 10, 2026 — refreshed beta7 binaries

The refreshed beta7 desktop packages contain additional native interaction profiling and release stabilization. The Windows installer now permits selecting the installation directory. The installer supports fresh installs only; automatic installer-to-installer upgrades are not supported. Existing native updater behavior and its limitations for files stored in the installation root remain unchanged.

# FluxGeo v1.4-beta5

Choose a tag to compare

@EuclideGeoart EuclideGeoart released this 19 Sep 19:35
1a22242

FluxGeo v1.4-beta5 is one of the largest updates to the geometry engine so far, with major advances in Discovery, the introduction of an initial 3D geometry environment, and extensive improvements to performance, interaction, compatibility, and overall engine stability.

🔍 Discovery — broader, faster, and easier to explore

Discovery has received a major expansion in this release.

The engine can now recognize and present a considerably broader range of geometric relationships and results while handling increasingly rich constructions. Its presentation and interaction model have also been refined, making discovered facts easier to browse, inspect, and understand.

Performance work throughout the Discovery pipeline significantly reduces the cost of analysis and makes exploration much more practical on larger constructions.

Highlights include:

  • Broader coverage of geometric relationships and construction patterns
  • Improved filtering and presentation of discovered results
  • Faster analysis and verification
  • Better organization of related results and theorem families
  • Improved interaction with discovered geometry
  • Numerous reliability and semantic-consistency improvements

Discovery remains an actively developing part of FluxGeo, but beta5 represents a substantial step toward making automatic geometric exploration a core part of the application.

🧊 Initial 3D Geometry Environment

FluxGeo now includes its first substantial 3D geometry foundation.

This is still an early version of the 3D environment, but most of the fundamental interaction and geometry infrastructure is now in place. It is already possible to construct, inspect, manipulate, render, and interact with a growing collection of spatial objects.

The 3D foundation includes support for areas such as:

  • 3D points, lines, rays, segments, planes, circles, and spheres
  • Spatial intersections and constrained points
  • Parametric and implicit surfaces
  • 3D transformations and projections
  • Spatial measurements and Euclidean construction tools
  • Interactive camera and viewport navigation
  • Object selection, picking, dragging, and manipulation
  • Dedicated 3D algebra and presentation infrastructure
  • Persistent 3D constructions in FluxGeo project files

The 3D interface and interaction model will continue to evolve, but the underlying geometry architecture is now far enough along for meaningful experimentation and future expansion.

⚡ Faster and more responsive geometry

Performance continues to be a major focus of FluxGeo.

This release contains extensive work throughout the geometry engine, dependency graph, rendering paths, interaction system, and Discovery pipeline. Complex constructions remain responsive during continuous dragging and dependent-object updates, while unnecessary rebuilding and recomputation have been reduced.

FluxGeo's goal remains simple: even rich dynamic constructions should feel immediate.

🧭 Geometry tools and interaction

A large number of existing construction and interaction tools have been refined.

Improvements include:

  • More consistent object selection and hit testing
  • Better handling of complex and overlapping constructions
  • Improved snapping and conditional construction workflows
  • Expanded transformation support
  • More capable object and algebra presentation
  • Improved mobile and desktop interaction behavior
  • Numerous refinements to dialogs, toolbars, object actions, and construction workflows

🎨 Styling and mathematical presentation

FluxGeo continues to expand its presentation system with:

  • Rich object colors, fills, outlines, thickness, and line styles
  • Improved point and segment styling
  • Better labels and algebra presentation
  • LaTeX-style mathematical typography by default
  • Improved appearance across desktop, web, and mobile interfaces

📐 FluxGeo Syntax

FluxGeo Syntax continues its development toward a readable geometry scripting language.

Constructions can increasingly be expressed textually using syntax designed to stay approachable and close to natural Python-style expressions. Documentation and scripting support continue to grow alongside the graphical construction tools.

📂 Projects, importing, and compatibility

Project handling has received substantial reliability work in beta5.

This includes improvements to:

  • Saving and restoring FluxGeo projects
  • Autosave and recovery
  • Compatibility with older .fgeo constructions
  • GeoGebra import support
  • Images and imported construction content
  • Persistence of construction relationships and object identity

🛠 Engine stability

A large part of beta5 was dedicated to strengthening FluxGeo's underlying geometry architecture.

Many edge cases involving dependent constructions, transformations, intersections, restoration, serialization, selection, and continuous motion have been addressed. The result is a noticeably more robust engine for both ordinary constructions and complex dynamic scenes.

  • More stable tangent contacts during movement, including construction-derived contacts and supported classic transformations.
  • Improved contact creation and recovery for circles, arcs, semicircles, and common tangents.
  • Reduced update cost for tangent contact points.
  • Fixed missing restored intersection points used by downstream constructions.
  • Improved intersection descriptions and definitions in Algebra.
  • Fixed restoration of saved arc visibility while preserving intentionally hidden objects.

Beta status

FluxGeo v1.4-beta5 is still a beta release. Some areas — particularly the new 3D environment — will continue to receive substantial UX and interaction work.

Feedback, unusual constructions, compatibility reports, and reproducible bugs are especially valuable as FluxGeo moves toward the next release.

Known intersection limitations

Circle–conic and conic–conic intersections (C4) still have unresolved branch-identity problems when intersections collide, merge, or separate. Points can switch branches or become unavailable, affecting dependent constructions. The stabilization improvements in beta5 do not resolve this general problem.

Some older projects, including certain five-point-conic constructions, may load intersection families incorrectly. Recreating the affected families and saving again can repair their saved state, but does not resolve the general collision limitation.

Certified common translation remains supported; this should not be interpreted as guaranteed identity preservation through every deformation or collision.

FluxGeo v1.4-beta3 — Syntax & ScriptBlocks

13/08/2026

FluxGeo v1.4-beta3 introduces a major new foundation: FluxGeo Syntax, an understandable scripting language for constructing and controlling dynamic geometry.

This release adds editable ScriptBlocks, live numeric drivers, reusable scalar functions, generated geometry, compact point clouds, and transactional execution while preserving FluxGeo’s exact construction engine and dependency architecture.

Highlights

FluxGeo Syntax

FluxGeo Syntax can now describe dynamic constructions using readable mathematical scripts.

New language features include:

  • brace-scoped script blocks;
  • multi-statement construction scripts;
  • sliders and animated numeric values;
  • safe scalar expressions;
  • reusable user-defined scalar functions;
  • generated loops with inclusive ranges;
  • loop-local values;
  • where filtering;
  • generated style declarations;
  • real generated objects or compact point-cloud representations.

Example:

script Wave {
    T = Slider(0, 6.28318, 0, 0.05)

    Cloud = pointcloud for i in -120..120 {
        x = i / 12
        P_i = (x, sin(x + T))
    }

    style Cloud {
        color = "#315f87"
        pointSize = 3
    }
}
Editable ScriptBlocks

Scripts can be retained as editable document objects rather than being treated only as one-time commands.

ScriptBlocks support:

retained source code;
atomic Apply behavior;
rollback when a statement fails;
source-mapped diagnostics;
durable replacement of previous outputs;
object and artifact provenance;
undo and redo;
save and load persistence;
integration with the project document and command systems.

A failed ScriptBlock does not leave partially created geometry behind.

Generated geometry and point clouds

Generated loops can create ordinary FluxGeo objects or use a compact point-cloud representation for large collections of points.

The compact point-cloud path includes:

optimized rendering;
spatial indexing;
hover and interaction support;
live updates from sliders and expressions;
filtering and styling;
reduced scene-object overhead for large visual constructions.
Scalar functions and expressions

This beta expands the native expression system with:

mathematical constants and functions;
reusable scalar function definitions;
references to sliders and other numeric drivers;
nested scalar expressions;
safer expression evaluation;
improved diagnostics for invalid expressions.
Performance and interaction

This release also includes:

faster generated-cloud rendering;
optimized generated-point interaction;
compact spatial indexing;
reduced dependency-graph cache overhead;
reduced multi-selection rendering overhead;
cached semantic-role checks during intersection filtering;
Release-mode gating of expensive per-frame OpenGL diagnostics.
Documentation

The public FluxGeo guide now contains an expanded Syntax & ScriptBlocks chapter covering:

sliders;
expressions;
scalar functions;
loops;
filters;
generated styles;
point clouds;
transactions;
persistence;
practical examples.

FluxGeo v1.4-beta2 — Weak PC Performance Refresh

This release focuses on making FluxGeo significantly smoother on older and weaker machines, especially low-power laptops.

Highlights

  • Added Weak CPU Mode, designed to keep interaction responsive on older PCs.
  • Reduced expensive ImGui panel redraws during drag, pan, zoom, and slider playback.
  • Added compact toolbar and compact profiler rendering during continuous interaction.
  • Object Properties now freezes cleanly during interaction instead of repeatedly refreshing and blinking.
  • Algebra/Object Browser uses cheaper compact rows while interacting in Weak CPU Mode.
  • Rendering is simplified during interaction by skipping nonessential minor grid, axis-label, and label-hitbox work.
  • Added DAG update-plan caching for stable repeated drag/slider updates.
  • Greatly optimized generated Sequence updates with affine fast paths for translation, rotation, and dilation/scale chains.
  • Improved interactive/materialized Sequence output performance by batch-updating generated point children safely while preserving construction correctness.

Why this matters

FluxGeo should remain usable not only on modern desktops, but also on older laptops. This release reduces unnecessary UI, rendering, and update work during interaction so the canvas remains responsive even when the machine is slow.

Notes

Weak CPU Mode can be enabled from:

Global Settings → Typography / UI → Text & Interface → Performance → Weak CPU Mode

Normal mode remains unchanged.

FluxGeo v1.4-beta

Choose a tag to compare

@EuclideGeoart EuclideGeoart released this 18 Jun 00:23
1a22242

FluxGeo v1.4-beta is a major feature and stabilization release focused on intelligent construction tools, stronger semantic macros, improved plotting behavior, and better public documentation.

The headline feature is the new Tangential Circle Tools family: dedicated dynamic tools for constructing circles through points and/or tangent to selected objects, with live multi-solution preview and branch selection.

This release continues FluxGeo’s direction as a semantic dynamic geometry engine: constructions are not just drawn visually, but remain live, editable, saveable, undoable, and relationship-aware.

Highlights

New: Tangential Circle Tools

FluxGeo now includes a full trilogy of tangential circle construction tools:

  • 2P + Tangent Circle
    Create a circle through two selected points and tangent to one selected object.

  • P + 2 Tangents Circle
    Create a circle through one selected point and tangent to two selected objects.

  • 3 Tangents Circle
    Create a circle tangent to three selected objects.

Supported tangent objects in this beta:

  • Line
  • Segment, using supporting-line semantics
  • Ray, using supporting-line semantics
  • Circle

Each tangential circle tool supports:

  • Previewing all valid solution circles before creation
  • Highlighting the active candidate
  • Tab / Shift+Tab to cycle candidate solutions
  • Enter to confirm
  • Escape to cancel
  • Clicking the nearest preview candidate to confirm
  • Semantic TangentialCircleObject creation, not static circle fallback
  • Dynamic parent updates
  • Save/load support
  • Undo/redo support
  • Relationship/audit integration

These tools make Apollonius-style circle constructions much more direct and interactive. Instead of manually reconstructing the desired solution through helper constructions or macros, users can select the constraints, preview the possible circles, and choose the desired branch.

Current limitations:

  • Conic tangency is deferred.
  • Function/parametric/implicit plot tangency is deferred.
  • Segment/ray bounded-domain tangency validation is deferred; segment/ray currently act through their supporting line.
  • Advanced mobile candidate selection UI is deferred.
  • Macro support for tangential circle tools is deferred.

Improved smart point input for Tangential Circle tools

Tangential circle tools now use FluxGeo’s smart point input behavior during point-selection stages.

For point inputs, users can:

  • Select existing points
  • Click empty canvas to create free points
  • Click supported host objects to create/use ObjectPoints

For tangent-object inputs, selection remains strict:

  • Line
  • Segment
  • Ray
  • Circle

This avoids ambiguity: clicking a line or circle during a point stage can create an ObjectPoint, while clicking the same object during a tangent stage selects it as the tangent constraint.

Macro/User Tool polish

This release significantly strengthens semantic macro support.

The following semantic construction families are now covered and promoted through focused regression testing:

  • Parallel lines

  • Perpendicular lines

  • Perpendicular bisectors

  • Angle bisectors, including:

    • three-point / point-parent form
    • line/segment/ray-parent form
  • Tangents to circles and conics

  • Polar lines

  • Compass circle / CompassPoints constructions

  • Transformed CompassCircle under classic affine transforms:

    • translate
    • rotate
    • reflect over line
    • reflect about point
    • dilate

Function tangents remain cleanly rejected for macros because function plot macro support is not part of this release.

Transformed CompassCircle support was promoted after fixing the layered restore behavior so compass parents and transform drivers remain separate and live.

The macro system is now much stronger for core Euclidean construction workflows, while still rejecting unsupported or risky families cleanly instead of creating static or broken replay results.

Explicit function plotting stabilization

Explicit function plotting received a one-sided domain-boundary recovery improvement.

FluxGeo now handles shifted one-sided domain boundaries more reliably, including cases such as:

  • plot(log(x))
  • plot(log(x + 1))
  • plot(log(x - 1))
  • plot(log(1 - x))
  • plot(-log(x))
  • plot(1/sqrt(x))
  • plot(1/sqrt(x + 1))
  • plot(1/sqrt(x - 1))
  • plot(-1/sqrt(x))

The new recovery path detects adjacent invalid/valid samples near a domain edge, binary-searches the boundary, probes from the valid side, and avoids drawing false bridges across invalid regions.

Dense oscillatory singular cases such as plot(log(x) * sin(1/x)) remain deferred for a separate stabilization pass.

Public User Guide improvements

The public website now includes a self-contained User Guide page.

The guide content is sourced from user-guide-docs/ and embedded directly into docs/user-guide.html so the deployed website does not depend on raw Markdown files outside the public docs directory.

A new Tangential Circle Tools guide was added, covering:

  • What the tools do
  • Why multiple solution circles can appear
  • How candidate preview and selection work
  • Smart point input behavior
  • Workflows for all three tangential circle tools
  • Supported tangent objects
  • Current limitations
  • Example constructions to try
  • Troubleshooting/no-solution cases

Developer/internal documentation remains separate and is not exposed through the public guide.

New icons

Added SVG icons for the new tangential circle tools:

  • 2P + Tangent Circle
  • P + 2 Tangents Circle
  • 3 Tangents Circle

Icons are included for both the app assets and public documentation assets.

Validation and regression coverage

This release adds and strengthens harness coverage for:

  • Tangential circle solver/object/tool workflows
  • 2P + Tangent Circle
  • P + 2 Tangents Circle
  • 3 Tangents Circle
  • Tangential circle point-input behavior
  • Tangential circle mode routing
  • Semantic macro construction families
  • Transformed CompassCircle macro support
  • Explicit function one-sided boundary recovery

Known limitations in this beta

The following remain intentionally deferred:

  • Conic/function/parametric/implicit tangency for Tangential Circle tools
  • Bounded segment/ray tangency-domain validation
  • Advanced mobile candidate UI for tangential circle previews
  • Macro support for tangential circle tools
  • Grouped undo for implicit smart-point inputs plus final tangential circle creation
  • Dense oscillatory explicit plot singularities
  • Full tool reference catalog on the public website

Summary

FluxGeo v1.4-beta is a major step toward making FluxGeo feel like a distinctive semantic geometry system.

The new Tangential Circle Tools bring dynamic multi-solution circle construction directly into the UI, while macro support, plotting reliability, public documentation, and construction-object architecture all received important improvements.

This beta is especially recommended for users interested in advanced Euclidean construction workflows, reusable semantic tools, and intelligent geometry exploration.

FluxGeo v1.3-beta

Choose a tag to compare

@EuclideGeoart EuclideGeoart released this 12 Jun 11:51
1a22242

FluxGeo v1.3-beta

FluxGeo v1.3-beta is a major geometry-intelligence release focused on Triangle Intelligence, Macro/User-defined Tools, stronger semantic replay, and a more polished desktop experience.

This release pushes FluxGeo further beyond ordinary dynamic geometry editing: constructions are not only drawn, but preserved as live semantic geometry with dependencies, replay, save/load, undo/redo, and robust transformation behavior.

Highlights

Triangle Intelligence

FluxGeo now includes a dedicated triangle construction layer with many common and advanced triangle centers.

Implemented triangle centers include:

  • Centroid
  • Circumcenter
  • Orthocenter
  • Incenter
  • Excenters A/B/C
  • Nine-point center
  • Symmedian / Lemoine point
  • Gergonne point
  • Nagel point
  • Spieker center

Triangle companion constructions are also supported:

  • Euler line
  • Circumcircle
  • Incircle
  • Nine-point circle
  • Excircles A/B/C
  • Medial triangle

These constructions are live, dependency-aware, save/load safe, and usable from the desktop UI and supported CLI commands.

Macro / User-defined Tools

v1.3-beta introduces a powerful Macro/User-defined Tools system.

Macros can capture an existing construction and replay it on new inputs as live semantic geometry, not static copied coordinates.

Supported macro workflows:

  • Create macro from selected construction
  • Create macro through canvas-pick Macro Builder
  • Mark ordered inputs
  • Mark visible outputs
  • Automatically capture hidden support geometry
  • Replay macros repeatedly
  • Rename, edit, delete, save, and load macros

Supported macro families include:

  • Point, line, segment, ray, vector, circle basics
  • Intersections and branch-sensitive constructions
  • Triangles, rectangles, polygons, finite shapes
  • Five-point conics
  • Ellipse, hyperbola, parabola
  • Translate, rotate, reflect, dilate transformations
  • Inversion images for supported line/circle/segment cases
  • Selected scalar/matrix transform cases
  • Complex macro stress scenes such as Napoleon-style triangle constructions

Unsupported advanced cases are rejected cleanly instead of being flattened into broken coordinate snapshots.

This is especially important: FluxGeo macros preserve construction meaning. A conic macro stores its semantic parents; a transformed object stores its source and carrier; branch-sensitive intersections are replayed with stable root identity.

Robust Macro Persistence

The macro library has been hardened for real cross-platform use.

Global user macros are now stored as individual JSON files in a platform-specific user configuration directory:

  • Linux: $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/FluxGeo or ~/.config/FluxGeo
  • Windows: %APPDATA%/FluxGeo
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/FluxGeo

Improvements:

  • One file per macro
  • Legacy macros.json import
  • Atomic writes
  • Backup files before overwrite
  • Deleted macros archived instead of blindly erased
  • Corrupt macro files no longer block the whole library
  • Safety harness tests now use isolated temporary macro storage and never touch real user data

This makes the macro system much safer for real users and future releases.

Algebra / Object Browser Improvements

The Algebra/Object Browser now shows clearer semantic definitions for more object families.

Examples:

Conic(A, B, C, D, E)
Ellipse(F1, F2, P)
Hyperbola(F1, F2, P)
Parabola(F, directrix)
Rotate(source, angle, center)
Reflect(source, mirror)
Dilate(source, factor, center)
Invert(source, circle)
Centroid(A, B, C)
Circumcenter(A, B, C)

This makes complex constructions easier to inspect and trust.

Rendering and Export Fixes

v1.3-beta includes important rendering/export polish:

  • Improved large/off-screen circle rendering during zoom
  • More stable circle/intersection visual alignment at high zoom
  • Better precision through the rendering path
  • Earlier switch to viewport-local sampled circle rendering for huge outlines
  • Mode-aware SVG/PDF export for inversion images
  • Correct export behavior for circle-mode and line-mode inversion images

The visible geometry is now more stable in demanding zoom and inversion cases.

UI Polish

Desktop UI polish includes:

  • Improved dark-mode hover/selection contrast
  • Better themed right-click context menus
  • More readable conic object property layout
  • Clearer semantic display in Algebra/Object Browser

Validation

This release has been tested with focused safety harness coverage including:

  • Macro: 48/48 passed
  • Inversion: 15/15 passed
  • Formatter/Object definitions: 3/3 passed
  • Triangle centers: 6/6 passed
  • Label policy: 16/16 passed

Macro stress coverage includes repeated replay, branch-sensitive Napoleon-style constructions, conic replay variants, transformation replay, inversion replay, dense repeated macro replay, undo/redo, save/load, and negative rejection tests.

Beta Notes

FluxGeo is still beta software. Some advanced areas remain intentionally limited.

Known intentional limitations:

  • Some unsupported macro families are rejected instead of captured.
  • Analytic/coefficient-only conics are not macro-captured as live semantic conics.
  • Some advanced projective/affine map cases remain deferred.
  • Generated loops do not yet support every geometry object type.
  • Some future work remains for editable Algebra definitions and a global import/export macro library UI.

These limitations are intentional where needed to preserve correctness.

FluxGeo v1.2-beta

FluxGeo is a free interactive Euclidean geometry, function-plotting, and mathematical discovery application focused on precise constructions, clean visual exploration, and narrative mathematical presentation.

This release is a major milestone for FluxGeo. It expands the native input bar into a powerful visual geometry programming layer, adds generated geometry families, persistent unit-distance graph visualization, major performance improvements, and important core-engine stability fixes.

FluxGeo v1.2-beta is still a beta release. Bugs may exist. If you encounter an issue, please report it with the .fgeo file and a short description of what happened.

Highlights

Powerful native input bar

The input bar is now much more than a simple command field. It supports live semantic geometry expressions, numeric variables, vector expressions, generated objects, and loop-style construction syntax.

Examples:

m = 0.5
α = 45°
A = (0, 0)
B = (10, 0)
P = (1-m)*A + m*B
Q = A + 2*v - 0.5*w
R = Rotate(A, α, O)

Supported expression improvements include:

durable numeric variables, such as m = 0.5 and α = 45°
coordinate expressions
vector sums
two-point and three-point barycentric expressions
nested transformations
same-type semantic redefinition
generated point, segment, and polygon families
Generated geometry and visual loop syntax

FluxGeo now supports generated geometry through a natural loop-like syntax.

One-index examples:

for n in -5..5:
    P_n = A + n*v
    Q_n = B + n*v
    s_n = Segment(P_n, Q_n)

Two-index generated polygon cell grids:

for i in -3..3 {
    for j in -3..3 {
        A_i_j = O + i*u + j*v
        B_i_j = A_i_j + u
        C_i_j = A_i_j + u + v
        D_i_j = A_i_j + v
        Cell_i_j = Polygon(A_i_j, B_i_j, C_i_j, D_i_j)
    }
}

N-index generated point families are also supported:

for a in -2..2 {
    for b in -2..2 {
        for c in -2..2 {
            for d in -2..2 {
                P_a_b_c_d = O + a*u + b*v + c*w + d*x
            }
        }
    }
}

These generated objects are live semantic objects, not static drawings. Moving the source points or vectors updates the generated construction.

Generated children are protected from unsafe direct editing or deletion. They can be referenced, used in later constructions, and explicitly detached/exported when needed.

Generated child references and detach/export

Generated children can now be referenced from later commands.

Examples:

Seq1[2]
Seq1.A[1,1]
Seq1.Cell[0,0]

Generated point, segment, and polygon children can be detached as independent objects:

D = Detach(Seq1.A[1,1])
S = Detach(Seq1.s[2])
P = Detach(Seq1.Cell[0,0])

Detach creates an independent snapshot. The original generated object remains controlled by its generated group.

Generated group range editing

Generated group ranges can now be edited from Properties.

For example, a group created with:

for i in -2..2, j in -2..2: P_i_j = O + i*u + j*v

can be expanded to a larger range without deleting and recreating the construction.

Range editing is command-backed, supports undo/redo, respects child-count caps, and protects existing external references.

Persistent Unit Graph / Distance Graph

FluxGeo now includes a persistent Unit Graph object for unit-distance visualization.

Unit Graphs can analyze generated point sets in:

Exact mode
Tolerance mode

Unlike a normal segment construction, Unit Graph edges are lightweight analysis graphics. They do not create thousands of editable segment objects, which keeps large unit-distance visualizations much lighter.

This enables finite point-set experiments such as projected 4-index configurations with hundreds of generated points and thousands of unit-distance edges.

Unit Graph performance improvements

FluxGeo v1.2-beta includes a critical stability fix for DynamicIntersection roots.

Selected branches of line-circle and circle-circle intersections are now preserved under:

fast parent dragging
save/load
delete
undo
redo
dependent transformations such as reflection

This fixes cases where an intersection point could jump to the wrong root branch and cause dependent objects to move to incorrect positions.

This is an important core-engine correctness improvement.

Discovery / prover improvements

The automatic discovery and prover system has been improved significantly in this release.

It now benefits from better semantic relationship tracking, generated geometry integration, improved presentability filtering, and stronger stabilization around dynamic constructions.

The discovery/prover system is still experimental.

Please treat discovered results as exploratory. Some results may vary depending on degeneracies, construction position, unsupported replay paths, or numeric tolerance behavior.

When reporting discovery/prover issues, please include:

the .fgeo file
the construction steps if possible
the discovered result
whether the result looked correct or suspicious
Mobile and UI improvements

This release includes several usability improvements:

compact mobile Algebra input row
improved input-bar help/catalog examples
cleaner generated-group Properties wording
clearer Unit Graph Properties
improved object selection behavior for generated and analysis objects
cleaner user-facing messages for generated children and cap limits
Text annotation improvements

Text objects can now be pinned to points.

A pinned text annotation follows its host point and can be detached later. This makes it easier to create explanatory notes that stay attached to construction elements.

Example scenes

This release supports and may include example scenes such as:

exact square unit-distance lattice
projected Erdős-style unit-distance graph
generated affine cell grid
generated triangle strip

These examples demonstrate generated geometry, vector loops, persistent Unit Graphs, exact/tolerance analysis, and pseudo-3D affine grid effects.

Beta notes

FluxGeo v1.2-beta is still under active development.

Please report bugs, crashes, suspicious behavior, or broken saved files. Reports are especially helpful when they include:

the .fgeo file
what you expected
what happened instead
steps to reproduce the issue
your operating system and package used

Older .fgeo files should load more safely, but some historical construction metadata may not be recoverable if it was not saved by earlier versions.

FluxGeo v1.1-beta

FluxGeo is a free interactive Euclidean geometry and function-plotting application focused on precise constructions, clean visual exploration, and narrative mathematical presentation.

This release is a major stability and usability update. It improves construction tools, transformations, snapping, save/load behavior, overlap selection, and the narrative project/export workflow.

Highlights

Narrative project builder and exporter

FluxGeo includes a narrative project workflow for turning constructions into structured mathematical explanations and visual presentations.

This makes it useful not only as a construction tool, but also as a way to prepare geometry demonstrations, educational notes, and theorem-style visual stories.

Improved geometry construction tools

  • Improved Angle Given workflow.
  • Added clockwise/counterclockwise direction controls for Angle Given.
  • Added visual orientation preview before creating a given angle.
  • The Angle Given expression field now stays empty unless the user explicitly enters an expression.
  • Parallel and perpendicular tools now complete more reliably when snapping to existing points.
  • Improved point picking during semicircle creation.

Improved transformations

  • Rotate and Dilate now show confirmation dialogs before applying the transformation.
  • Rotation now supports clockwise/counterclockwise direction controls.
  • Rays and line-like objects are better supported as transformation sources.
  • Semicircles now transform correctly and update live when source objects move.
  • Several semantic transformation paths were improved.

Improved selection and interaction

  • Points now take priority over angle decorations when their selection areas overlap.
  • Right-click overlap selection now supports choosing between overlapping objects, not only points.
  • Fixed stale context-menu state after closing or clicking outside.
  • Improved hover and preview-state ownership to avoid ghost previews and stale highlights.

Improved snapping behavior

  • Better ObjectPoint support during construction snapping.
  • Improved snapped-point finalization for parallel and perpendicular tools.

Save/load robustness

  • Fixed several circle restoration cases.
  • Fixed tangent-line serialization by preserving construction metadata.
  • Improved cleanup of transient hover/preview state after loading files.
  • Improved reliability for older saved files where possible.

Semicircle reliability

  • Fixed semicircle restore after delete/undo.
  • Fixed transformed semicircle updates when source points or transform drivers move.
  • Improved semicircle point selection during creation.

Experimental automatic discovery / prover

This build includes the experimental automatic conjecture discovery/prover system for public testing.

Please treat discovered results as experimental. Some results may vary depending on construction position, degeneracies, or unsupported replay cases. This feature is actively being improved and public testing will help us make it more reliable.

If you test the prover, please report:

  • the .fgeo file,
  • the construction steps if possible,
  • the discovered result,
  • whether the result looked correct or suspicious.

Notes

  • FluxGeo is still under active development.
  • Older .fgeo files should load more safely, but some historical construction metadata may not be recoverable if it was not saved by earlier versions.
  • If you encounter a bug, please include the saved file and a short reproduction description.
  • The prover/discovery system is experimental and should not yet be treated as a final mathematical proof authority.

Recommended download

Download the package for your platform, extract it, and run the FluxGeo executable.
