The first public release of Cellmark Editor, a fast, lightweight Markdown editor for Windows that is especially good with tables. Free for everyone, including for work.

Because the installer is self-signed, Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. Step-by-step instructions and how to check the signature are in the README.

Highlights

Writing

  • Three editing views: Live (formatting shows where you type), Source (plain Markdown with line numbers) and Split (both side by side, editable on either side). Press Ctrl+E to switch.
  • The publish view next to the editor shows the formatted document. Print preview (Ctrl+Shift+P) shows the pages as they will print.
  • Math, Mermaid diagrams, footnotes, highlights (==text==) and front matter.
  • Outline, word and character count, focus mode, typewriter mode, multiple cursors, find and replace, and a list of keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+/).

Tables

  • Tables with merged cells and multi-row headers, written in LTEM (LLM-friendly Table-Enhanced Markdown) format.
  • Click a cell to edit it in place. Use the table menu to add rows and columns, merge cells, and switch between header and body rows.
  • Tables copied from the web, Word or Excel paste in with their merged cells kept. Other formatted text pastes in as Markdown.
  • Tables you copy paste into Word and other apps as real tables.

AI table recognition

  • Open a PDF, HWP or HWPX file as a reference document next to your text. Click Capture table and drag over a table: it is recognized, and you can check and edit it before you insert it as an LTEM table.
  • Cells that need checking are highlighted in both the captured image and the table.
  • Recognition runs on your PC. No graphics card or internet connection is needed.

Files

  • Opens .md, .markdown and .lmd files. Choose Cellmark Editor as the default app to open them with a double-click.
  • Saves files in the encoding they were opened with (UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM or EUC-KR).
  • Files panel for a folder, and Quick Open (Ctrl+P).
  • When another program changes an open file, the app reloads it, and asks first if you have unsaved changes.
  • Optional file autosave, and recovery of unsaved text after a crash.
  • Pasted images are saved in a folder next to the document.

Export and print

  • Export to HTML, PDF and Word (DOCX), and print with a preview.
  • Paper size, orientation, margins, page numbers and a page header (title and date) can be set. Long tables repeat their header rows on every page.

Also

  • English and Korean interface, light and dark themes.
  • To check for new versions, the app only downloads a small file. It sends nothing.

Known limitations

  • Recognized tables can contain errors. Compare them with the original, especially numbers. Almost every table comes with cells to check: start with those, but some of them are correct, and not every error is highlighted. A cell that holds only symbols that could not be read with confidence may come out empty and marked for checking.
  • Tables drawn with only horizontal lines, or with no lines, cannot be recognized yet.
  • Capture table works within one page. Capture a table that continues onto the next page one page at a time.
  • If you select a generous area around a table, lines next to the table may be read as part of it. In that case the app warns that the table seems to continue past the selected area. Select again along the table's border.
  • HWP and HWPX documents are drawn with the fonts installed on your PC. If a document's fonts are missing, line breaks may differ from the original.
  • Images from the internet are not shown or exported. The app never connects to load them; images stored on your PC are shown.
  • HTML in a document is shown as text, except HTML tables.
  • Opening a very large document (around 10 MB) in the publish view uses a lot of memory.
  • When you use Save As to save a document to another folder, its pasted images are not moved with it.
  • The license agreement is available in Korean only.

Privacy

Your documents, table images, recognition results and usage data never leave your PC. There is no telemetry and no remote error reporting.

주요 기능

글쓰기

  • 편집 보기 셋: 라이브(쓰는 자리에서 서식이 보임), 소스(줄 번호가 있는 Markdown 원문), 나란히(둘을 나란히, 어느 쪽에서나 고침). Ctrl+E로 바꿉니다.
  • 편집기 옆의 발행 보기에서 꾸며진 문서를 봅니다. 쪽으로 나뉜 인쇄 모양은 인쇄 미리보기(Ctrl+Shift+P)에서 봅니다.
  • 수식, Mermaid 다이어그램, 각주, 형광펜(==글==), front matter.
  • 개요, 글자·단어 수, 집중 모드, 타자기 모드, 여러 커서, 찾기·바꾸기, 단축키 목록(Ctrl+/).

표

  • 병합한 칸과 여러 줄 머리글이 있는 표를 LTEM(LLM-friendly Table-Enhanced Markdown) 형식으로 씁니다.
  • 표 위에서 칸을 눌러 바로 고칩니다. 행·열 추가, 칸 병합, 머리글 행·본문 행 바꾸기는 표 메뉴로 합니다.
  • 웹·워드·엑셀에서 복사한 표는 병합한 칸을 살린 채 붙여 넣습니다. 서식 있는 다른 글은 Markdown으로 붙습니다.
  • 복사한 표는 워드 등 다른 프로그램에 표로 붙습니다.

AI 표 인식

  • PDF·HWP·HWPX 파일을 글 옆에 참고 문서로 엽니다. [표 영역 캡처]를 누르고 표를 끌어 고르면 그 표를 인식합니다. 결과 창에서 확인하고 고친 뒤 LTEM 표로 넣습니다.
  • 확인이 필요한 칸을 캡처한 그림과 표 양쪽에 표시합니다.
  • 인식은 이 PC 안에서 합니다. 그래픽 카드와 인터넷 연결이 필요 없습니다.

파일

  • .md, .markdown, .lmd 파일을 엽니다. Cellmark Editor를 기본 앱으로 고르면 두 번 눌러 엽니다.
  • 연 인코딩(UTF-8, BOM 있는 UTF-8, EUC-KR) 그대로 저장합니다.
  • 폴더를 여는 [파일] 옆 패널과 빠른 열기(Ctrl+P).
  • 열어 둔 파일을 다른 프로그램이 바꾸면 다시 읽습니다. 저장하지 않은 변경이 있으면 먼저 묻습니다.
  • 파일 자동 저장(켜고 끌 수 있음)과, 비정상 종료 뒤 저장하지 않은 글 복구.
  • 붙여 넣은 그림은 문서 옆 폴더에 저장합니다.

내보내기와 인쇄

  • HTML, PDF, Word(DOCX)로 내보내고, 미리 보고 인쇄합니다.
  • 용지 크기, 방향, 여백, 쪽 번호, 머리말(문서 제목·날짜)을 정할 수 있습니다. 긴 표는 쪽마다 머리글 행을 되풀이합니다.

그 밖에

  • 한국어·영어 화면, 라이트·다크 테마.
  • 새 판을 확인할 때 작은 파일을 내려받기만 하고, 아무것도 보내지 않습니다.

알려진 한계

  • 인식한 표에는 틀린 곳이 있을 수 있습니다. 원본과, 특히 숫자를 대조해 주세요. 거의 모든 표에 확인할 칸이 표시됩니다. 표시된 칸부터 보면 되지만, 그중에는 맞는 칸도 있고 틀린 칸이 모두 표시되지는 않습니다. 자신 있게 읽지 못한 기호만 든 칸은 빈 칸으로 나오고 확인할 칸으로 표시될 수 있습니다.
  • 가로선만 있거나 선이 없는 표는 아직 인식하지 못합니다.
  • 표 영역 캡처는 한 쪽 안에서만 고릅니다. 다음 쪽으로 이어지는 표는 쪽마다 따로 캡처합니다.
  • 표 둘레를 넉넉하게 고르면 옆의 선까지 표로 읽을 수 있습니다. 이때는 표가 더 이어지는 것 같다는 경고가 뜹니다. 표 테두리에 맞춰 다시 골라 주세요.
  • HWP·HWPX 문서는 PC에 설치된 글꼴로 그립니다. 문서의 글꼴이 없으면 줄바꿈이 원본과 다를 수 있습니다.
  • 인터넷 주소의 그림은 보이지 않고 내보낸 파일에도 들어가지 않습니다. 앱이 그림을 받으려고 접속하지 않기 때문입니다. PC에 있는 그림은 보입니다.
  • 문서 속 HTML은 글자 그대로 보입니다(HTML 표는 표로 그립니다).
  • 아주 큰 문서(약 10MB)를 발행 보기로 열면 메모리를 많이 씁니다.
  • 다른 이름으로 저장해 다른 폴더에 두면, 붙여 넣은 그림은 함께 옮겨지지 않습니다.
  • 사용권 계약서는 한국어로만 있습니다.

개인정보

문서, 표 그림, 인식 결과, 사용 정보는 이 PC 밖으로 나가지 않습니다. 사용 통계와 원격 오류 보고도 없습니다.
