ZenState v5.9.3 — Keep automatic updates working
ZenState 5.9.3 — Keep automatic updates working
- Moves future automatic updates to the public
Everything-Design/ZenState-Releasesrepository so the source repository can become private after the team migrates. - Install this version before the source repository becomes private. Older versions will need a manual update if they miss the transition.
- Time recording, saved records, settings and Basecamp/Ops sign-in behavior are unchanged.
Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows x64, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian).
ZenState v5.9.2
ZenState 5.9.2 — More room in the menu popup
- The popup opened from the ZenState menu-bar or tray icon is taller and fits the current screen. Today and Team scroll while the footer controls stay accessible.
- Quick Record Time starts as a compact row. Click to expand it; collapsing it keeps your unfinished note. Starting a timer collapses the form again.
- Hide Quick Record Time from the popup in Settings → General → Show Quick Record Time in the menu popup. Dashboard and floating-timer capture are unchanged.
- Weekly allocation now compares logged hours with the Ops target through yesterday for the running week. Planned hours and the full-week target remain visible below. Past and upcoming weeks keep their existing display.
Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows x64, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian).
ZenState v5.9.1
ZenState 5.9.1 — Sync time from the dashboard
- The dashboard's Sync Basecamp button now runs the same history sync as Settings. It posts each mapped, unsynced session as its own Basecamp time entry and stays on the current tab when all time is synced.
- If any sessions still need a Basecamp destination or a retry, ZenState opens Timesheet and shows what remains. Failed posts stay available for review.
- Settings now explains that history sync handles mapped sessions and that unlinked time is mapped in Timesheet.
Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows x64, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian).
ZenState v5.9.0
ZenState 5.9.0 — Capture now, sync when ready
- Start Quick Record Time from the menu, Plan, or the running timer pill without choosing a Basecamp task first.
- Review every unposted session in Timesheet. Map one session or select several to sync as separate entries on one Basecamp to-do. Each keeps its original date, duration, and note.
- Search pinned to-dos in the menu, including tasks inside collapsed folders.
- Optionally keep Today and Tomorrow plans separate. Due Tomorrow items wait for an explicit move or reschedule, while unfinished Today items carry forward.
- Edit a session's local start time in Timesheet and preserve short session durations when updating Basecamp.
- Remove the unused Team time tab.
Sessions remain available for retry when Basecamp is disconnected or rejects a post. If a connection drops during a post, check Basecamp before retrying in case it accepted the entry without returning a response.
Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows x64, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian).
ZenState 5.8.6 — Your week
ZenState 5.8.6 — Your week
- Replaces Weekly allocation with a personal Your week overview from Everything Ops.
- Shows Billable and Growth plans, logged hours, leave-adjusted targets and capacity for the selected and following week.
- Adds your project status, expected end and reported progress, personal requests/reminders, and leave conflicts.
- Keeps local unposted sessions and the live timer separate from imported Ops totals.
- Removes the local test-build notice and sample preview.
Time recording continues independently if Ops is unavailable. This overview is read-only; use Open Ops for changes.
Available for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows x64, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian).
ZenState v5.8.5 — Choose when your work started
ZenState v5.8.5 — Choose when your work started
When logging a task after you finish it, choose the date and actual start time so it appears at the right time in your ZenState timesheet.
- Available in both Plan → Log time and Timesheet → Add session.
- Compact inline hour and minute fields with AM/PM, prefilled with the current local time.
- A calendar that matches ZenState's interface, with Today and Yesterday shortcuts.
- Keyboard support for editing time, plus validation for invalid dates and times.
Start time is saved only in ZenState. Linked Basecamp entries continue to receive the selected date, duration and description.
Includes Windows x64, Apple Silicon and Intel Mac, and Linux x64 (AppImage and Debian) installers and update files. Finish and save any running timer before updating.
As with v5.8.4, Windows builds are unsigned and Mac builds use the existing Apple Development identity without notarization.
ZenState v5.8.4 — Weekly allocation and safer updates
ZenState v5.8.4 — Weekly allocation and safer updates
Your weekly allocation in ZenState
Open Weekly allocation in the left menu to see your saved project allocations from Everything Ops alongside time recorded in Basecamp. Compare planned, recorded and remaining hours for the same person, project and week, or browse earlier weeks.
- Allocated billable projects appear first. Other billable projects with recorded time appear in a separate dropdown, including inactive projects and projects outside your current membership.
- Non-billable projects stay out of this planning view.
- Recorded hours are green below the plan, yellow when they match, and red when they exceed it. Overruns remain visible as “hours over”.
- “No allocation” is distinct from an explicit zero-hour allocation.
- A compact sync-status card shows how current the imported Basecamp time is. Running or unposted time is not counted as posted Basecamp time; new entries appear after Everything Ops imports them.
Weekly allocation is optional and read-only. It does not block recording when hours run out, and an Everything Ops outage does not interrupt your timer or Basecamp posting.
Safer quitting and updating
- Quit and Restart for update now wait while a timer is running or paused, a time confirmation is pending, or a Basecamp submission is in progress.
- Mac update restarts wait until the native updater has prepared and verified the download.
- Failed update checks show a clear message instead of reporting “up to date” or displaying a long technical error.
- Older local-only and unposted sessions are retained rather than being removed by history cleanup.
- Updated Electron and dependencies with compatible security fixes.
Windows, Mac and Linux
This release includes Windows x64, Apple Silicon Mac, Intel Mac, and Linux x64 packages for Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Debian. Linux users can choose a Debian installer or an AppImage.
Windows builds are unsigned. Mac builds retain the existing signing identity and are not notarized. These are internal office builds; installation prompts depend on the computer’s security settings.
Update information
Finish and save any running timer before updating from an older version.
This release includes the complete update files for Windows, both Mac architectures and Linux. It addresses the missing Windows latest.yml error in v5.8.3.
Version 5.8.4 follows the stable update channel. A one-time compatibility release lets early 5.8.4-test installations discover these same stable installers and move onto stable updates. Linux installations receiving ZenState for the first time need a manual install. An installation whose existing updater cannot complete an upgrade may require the matching installer; install over the existing app without deleting its data.
Installed-update checks passed on Apple Silicon Mac, Windows x64, Linux AppImage and Debian, including restart and retention of local records/settings. Intel Mac packages passed archive, signature and update-metadata checks; an installed Intel Mac update was not tested on hardware.
Compatibility bridge to v5.8.4 for early test builds
Compatibility update for early ZenState test builds
This is a one-time update bridge for installations labelled 5.8.4-test. It directs their existing updater to the verified ZenState v5.8.4 stable release.
The application installed is 5.8.4, with exactly the same installers and checksums as the stable release. This prerelease contains only compatibility metadata; it is not a different application build. Once updated, ZenState follows the stable channel normally.
Finish and save any running timer before updating from an older version.
For manual installation and the full list of improvements, use the v5.8.4 stable release linked above.
