Continuum is a decentralized platform for hosting, preserving, and recovering game servers.
The goal is to let server communities distribute game server data across a network of nodes and datahosts so that worlds, saves, configs, and server state can be backed up, restored, and preserved without relying on a single machine or provider.
In the long term, Continuum is intended to let people help store and protect part of a server, or even an entire server, and potentially be rewarded based on the resources and reliability they contribute.
Continuum is still in active design and early implementation.
What exists today:
- bootstrap discovery and node join flow
- account creation, login, and recovery
- signed node and account metadata
- encrypted bootstrap transport
- desktop app shell and early runtime dashboard
- self-update pipeline
What is not complete yet:
- full peer-to-peer sync
- real datahost storage and replication behavior
- decentralized game server backup distribution
- restore orchestration across multiple nodes
- contribution tracking and reward systems
- finalized trust and authority rules across all node types
Continuum is being designed to support decentralized game server infrastructure.
That includes:
- hosting game server data across multiple machines
- preserving servers even when the original host disappears
- backing up worlds, configs, and runtime data to the network
- restoring servers from distributed pieces
- allowing community-run nodes to help keep servers alive
- eventually measuring contribution for future reward systems
If you are new to the project, be sure to stick around. Continuum is still in active development, and there is much more to come as the network, datahost, storage, and recovery systems continue to take shape.
A general Continuum node that participates in the network and can identify itself, join the mesh, and communicate with other peers.
A node that stores server data or backup data for the network.
A signed identity used to own and manage node participation and future permissions or reputation.
A trusted entry point that helps new or returning nodes join and recover into the network.
Continuum is not yet a finished decentralized game hosting platform.
Right now, the project is still building the foundation:
- trust and identity
- bootstrap and recovery
- signed metadata
- secure transport
- local node/account state
The large storage, replication, restore, and reward pieces are still ahead.
Continuum is an actively evolving decentralized game server preservation and hosting project.
More systems, documentation, and network features will continue to be added over time.
