QClips 2.0.4

Fixes
• Right colours at your screen's full size. Recordings, and clips saved with AV1, made at Source resolution could show wrong colours in players that follow the colour information stored in the video file. New videos now describe their colours correctly, on NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics cards. Videos you already saved are not changed.
• True blacks and whites at smaller sizes on NVIDIA. Since 2.0.3, recording below your monitor's size on an NVIDIA graphics card could show dark parts too dark and bright parts too bright. The picture now uses the standard video colours again.

QClips 2.0.3

Fixes
• QClips no longer takes the mouse and keyboard from your game. We fixed every way we found that QClips could pull the focus away from a game. QClips Lite now never shows anything over your games (no Alt+Z panel, notification, performance line or player): the save sound tells you a clip was saved. In both versions, starting QClips again or Windows restarting it no longer brings its window over a game, the tray menu gives the focus back when it closes, and tray notifications wait until you leave the game.
• Games that were missing from clips. Sometimes a clip showed your desktop or browser instead of the game, while the game's sound played. QClips now notices when this happens and, while that game is in front, records it with Windows Graphics Capture, another way of capturing the screen that sees such games. It switches back by itself when you leave the game. The few seconds before it notices can still miss the game.
• Smaller recording sizes no longer stutter on 2K and 4K monitors. Recording at 1080p (or another size below your monitor's) on an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card now makes the picture smaller on the graphics card instead of the processor, so 120 fps keeps up. QClips checks at start that this works on your PC and otherwise uses the old way. These videos also carry the right colour information, so every player shows their colours correctly.
• Smoother 2K and 4K recordings at high frame rates on NVIDIA. At 1440p 120 fps, 4K and similar, the encoder now uses a faster setting so it keeps up with the game instead of dropping frames.
• Saving from the Alt+Z panel ends the clip when you opened the panel. A fullscreen game minimizes when the panel opens, so clips saved from it could end on your desktop instead of the game.
• Clips saved from the Alt+Z panel are named after your game, not "Desktop".
• Better reports when the game doesn't show in a clip. The diagnostic report now lists your monitors (resolution, refresh rate, HDR), the capture and encoder settings in use, and what QClips found (the game missing from the capture, or the game on a monitor that isn't recorded). If a game is still missing from your clips, please send the diagnostic report right after it happens.
• The recording engine (FFmpeg) is updated to version 8.1.3.

QClips 2.0.2

QClips 2.0.2

New
• All clips in one folder. Settings, Storage, Folder structure: keep a folder for each game or app (as before), or save every new clip, recording and screenshot straight into your clips folder (screenshots go to its Screenshots folder). The game stays in the file name and the library still filters by game. Clips you already saved stay where they are.
• HEVC and AV1 playback check. If Windows on your PC can't play HEVC or AV1 videos, the Capture page now says so when you pick that encoder, with a button to get the free extension from the Microsoft Store or to switch to H.264. Without it, those clips show "Missing codec" or a garbled picture in Windows' players and in the editor.

QClips 2.0.1

Fixes
• Saving works again at 2K and 4K with a high bitrate. With a silent Mixed track, every save could fail with "Could not write header". Clips now save, and if the sound can't be copied it is made again instead of the save failing.
• Clearer HEVC at high bitrates. HEVC recordings above 100 Mbps (for example 2K or 4K at 150 Mbps) are now marked so that video players decode them correctly, instead of showing a garbled or black picture.
• When your only track is a stream mix (like the GoXLR Broadcast Stream Mix), the Mixed track now uses it instead of staying silent.
• A save pressed while the capture reconnects (a game switching the screen mode) now saves what was recorded before it.
• Resolution is automatic. QClips records at your monitor's real resolution, at any Windows display scale, and only offers smaller sizes, never upscaling. A 2K or 4K setting on a smaller monitor switches to Source.
• The Alt+Z panel now always opens on your main screen, whichever screen your game or mouse is on.
• Selecting clips in the library no longer fills the log with errors when the list refreshes.
• Shutting down, restarting or signing out of Windows while QClips runs now stops it cleanly (a running recording is finished first), so the next start no longer reports a crash. Updates and uninstalls ask QClips to close before replacing it.

QClips 2.0.0

QClips 2.0.0

Meet QClips
• QClips keeps the last minutes of your game on your PC. Save the moment with a hotkey or by saying "clip it", in Arabic or English, then trim it and size it for Discord. Free, with no account and no telemetry.
• A new logo and a charcoal look in its blue, the same style on every page, with a dark tray menu.

Sound in sync
• Sound and picture line up in every player, including Windows' own player and Discord. QClips now reads the exact moment each piece of sound was captured instead of estimating a delay. In our tests the gap stayed within about 12 ms at 60 and 120 FPS (H.264 and HEVC), on a fresh capture, after a capture restart and while recording.
• Every track of a saved clip starts at the same moment, with no hidden offsets that some players ignore.
• No more echo in the Mixed track. A device that already carries the other channels (a stream mix) is kept out of the sum, and Mixed has a limiter so loud moments don't crackle.
• Editing audio tracks no longer restarts the capture again and again or empties the replay.
• A save that reaches past a capture restart no longer repeats old footage, and the parts join without gaps.

Stability
• Saving never waits for the window. Hotkeys, voice commands and Save in the tray work even while the editor is busy.
• The editor stays light: players are freed when you leave a clip, nothing keeps decoding while the window is hidden, and opening a clip reads it once instead of about eleven times.
• No more "not responding" prompt over your game, and a slow quit is no longer cut short. Quitting while recording finishes the recording first; a recording that was cut off is recovered at the next start.
• A database problem at start no longer empties the library and settings, and Move to Recycle Bin never deletes a clip for good.
• Long exports with many cuts or titles no longer fail, and duplicated pieces no longer fill the memory.
• The window answers faster: in our 20-minute stress run the longest pause fell from 105 ms to 40 ms.

Voice commands
• Arabic and English. Add several phrases, each saving its own length (15 s, 30 s, 1, 1.5 or 2 minutes, or the whole replay). New installs start with "clip it" (whole replay) and "clip that" (30 s).
• On your PC, offline. Recognition runs on this PC from the microphone you choose; nothing you say leaves it, and only a matched phrase is written to the log.
• The models download once from Settings → Voice commands: about 67 MB for English, about 164 MB for Arabic, about 210 MB for both. The Arabic model is Powered by Moonshine AI.
• Start test shows what voice hears and which phrase it matched, and a sensitivity slider decides how clear a phrase must be.

Editor
• Simple and Advanced. Simple has your Library, Text, Effects, Filters and transitions next to one timeline: trim, split, speed (keeping the pitch), freeze frame and save a frame as a picture. Advanced keeps tracks, keyframes, masks and Copy area. Switch at any time.
• New Edit starts from an empty timeline (Undo brings the old one back).
• Export presets: Original, High, 1080p60, and Discord 10 MB, 25 MB and 50 MB (two passes so the file fits). Export the Mixed track plus each track, or one mixed track for sharing.
• Exports use constant quality, so files are much smaller for the same look.
• The clock reads minutes and seconds instead of frames.

Alt+Z
• Redesigned. The panel slides in from the edge of the screen your game is on, smoothly and without flicker, and always opens on Home. A clip's player slides out of the panel toward the game.
• Voice command settings are in its Settings tab.
• Choose for each overlay (Alt+Z, the "clip saved" notification, the performance line) whether it shows in your clips and streams. The notification is left out of clips by default.

Per-app audio tracks
• Record one program's sound on its own track: pick a program (Discord, Spotify, a browser), Current game (follows the game in front) or Everything except QClips. QClips never opens the game's process to do it.
• QClips warns when a program would be heard twice in Mixed, and keeps new program tracks out of the mix when another track already holds them.

Storage page
• See your drive at a glance: clips, replay cache, other files and free space.
• Storage limit (off unless you turn it on): the oldest clips go to the Recycle Bin when the folder is full. Favourites, open clips and clips from the last 10 minutes are kept, and it never runs while you record or play. A notice shows at 90 %.
• Move clips to another folder or drive with their edits, bookmarks and favourites; you see what will move before anything changes.
• File name pattern, for example $game $timestamp. Move or clear the replay cache.

Updates
• Small updates: only what changed is downloaded, often less than a megabyte.
• Two installers: QClips-Setup.exe (about 5 MB, downloads the rest while it installs) and QClips-Setup-Offline.exe (everything inside, about 88 MB). QClips also takes about half the disk space it did.
• An update never installs while you record, a download can be cancelled, and What's new shows after the update. If an update fails, the previous version keeps working.

Smaller things
• More save hotkeys, each with its own length, on keys or a mouse side button.
• Saving again soon after a save starts where the last clip ended, so nothing is saved twice (on by default, Capture page).
• A soft sound when a clip is saved and a low note if it couldn't be, with its own volume.
• A hotkey copies the latest clip so you can paste it in Discord or any chat.
• The library stays quick with many clips, and favourites and renames show at once.
• "Record all monitors" screen files follow their clip when it is renamed, moved or deleted.
• The main window remembers its size and place.
• Uninstalling keeps your clips and settings; Settings → Storage → Remove all QClips data removes the rest (never the clips).

Voice command files: the .onnx, .ort, .dll and moonshine-*.txt files below are downloaded by QClips itself when you turn on voice commands (Settings > Voice commands). You don't need to download them.
