HaulSense 0.8.0 — Public alpha 1
HaulSense 0.8 public alpha
Feel the long haul. Native Linux DualSense immersion and a local telemetry cockpit for American Truck Simulator under Proton.
- Live speed/gear/RPM, route/ETA, economy/range, air/temperatures/battery, wear, inputs, wheels and primary-trailer data; metric/US units and an SDK inspector.
- Separate left and right animated player LED sweeps, independent center lights and side calibration.
- Progressive L2 braking, restrained event/impact/brake feedback, gameplay and coupling cues; optional reverse/wiper rhythms.
- Calm/Balanced/Immersive presets, persistent fine tuning and master pause.
- Embedded local dashboard, bounded timestamped history, no Electron or cloud reporting; hidden tabs stop polling.
- 50 Hz feedback ceiling, exact frame validation, pause neutralization, reconnect handling and legacy-v4 compatibility during migration.
- Native user service, desktop launcher, atomic plugin upgrade and preserved/backup settings.
Install
Extract the archive, enter the extracted folder, then run:
./ats-dualsense/scripts/install-all.shOpen HaulSense from the app menu or http://127.0.0.1:39056. Restart ATS after installation to load the new plugin and extended channels. The bundle includes a Linux x86-64 binary and the Windows DLL; the installer falls back to a source build when the native binary is incompatible. Udev permissions may require sudo. Existing compatible permissions can use SKIP_UDEV=1.
Qualification
The release archive is produced by the passing GitHub CI on its exact main commit. Release/SDK/effects tests, undefined-behavior sanitizer checks, real HTTP/UDP integration and dashboard DOM checks pass. The attached USB controller's independent sysfs LED output passed a six-step readback test.
This is a prerelease. Full new-plugin real driving, rendered desktop/mobile dashboard review and the USB/Bluetooth/Edge firmware matrix remain open in the stable qualification milestone. Compatible rumble and adaptive triggers are implemented; USB audio haptics are not. Wiper timing is synthetic and brake texture is not an ABS detector.
Local short daemon-only samples: approximately 3.4–3.8 MB RSS and 0.2% of one core in hardware-free simulation, including 5 Hz dashboard requests. Browser memory/CPU is separate; these are not long-haul game measurements.
