This alpha focuses on customization, easier settings transfer, smoother browsing gestures, and performance improvements.

What’s New

• Added a customizable browser menu.

• Reorder or hide menu sections and actions you do not use.

• Open it from the bottom of the three-dot menu with Customize menu, or from Settings > Toolbar & Layout > Customize Menu.

• Added a reset option if you want to return the menu to the default layout.

• Added Export & Import Settings under Settings > General > Profile.

• Export settings to a readable JSON file or copy them to the clipboard.

• Import settings from a file or paste them from the clipboard.

• Choose whether to transfer app settings, advanced Gecko browser preferences, or both.

Browsing Improvements

• Updated the browser engine to GeckoView / Mozilla Android Components 155.
• Extension installation should be more reliable, especially when installing before opening a tab.
• Leaving an add-on details screen during installation should no longer leave the install state stuck.
• Extension-opened tabs from private browsing should preserve private mode more correctly.
• Pull-to-refresh should no longer trigger accidentally after pinch zoom, double-tap zoom, or quick-scale zoom.
• Three-finger taps, including screenshot gestures on some devices, should no longer accidentally scroll pages or swipe tabs away.
• Text fields near the bottom of web pages should behave better when the keyboard is open.
• Back button behavior is more predictable in menu customization, search section customization, popups, and home-page reorder mode.

Performance Improvements

• Startup should feel faster because more startup work now runs in parallel.
• Search shortcut setup after updates should be less disruptive.
• Large tab lists and container tab lists should load more smoothly.
• Feed article lists should feel faster, especially with large feeds.
• Reading or refreshing feed items now avoids unnecessary search-index rebuilds when content has not changed.
• Popular Sites and Quotes databases are no longer rewritten on every launch when the bundled data has not changed.
• Tab previews do less background work while still refreshing periodically for changing pages.

Other Improvements

• Search section customization now has a Reset to Defaults option.
• The Android back button now exits search section customization before leaving the screen.
• Small Web / Wander discovery now skips consoles that fail to load while still reporting real save or recording problems.
• GitHub release builds now include x86_64 APKs for emulators, ChromeOS, and x86 tablets.

Important Notes

• Settings export is not a full profile backup. It does not include tabs, history, bookmarks, logins, account sign-in, synced data, or profile files.
• Menu layout, pinned add-ons, web search preferences, and home/new-tab layout stay on the current device for now.
• Sensitive values such as credentials are scrubbed from settings exports where possible, but you should still review exported files before sharing them.
• GeckoView 155 removed Mozilla’s old built-in cookie-banner handling support, so WebLibre no longer applies those removed engine settings. Normal privacy and tracking protection settings remain separate.
