saywriteWhat Changed
- Native Debian-family package is now the supported user install path.
- Flatpak is no longer the supported user path.
- Direct Typing runs inside the native app; no separate host companion install is required.
- Old
saywrite-hostservice, D-Bus activation, Flatpak manifest, and host installer paths have been removed from the active runtime. - Startup cleans stale user-local host companion files from older installs.
- Startup repairs stale local model paths left by previous Flatpak installs when the model already exists in SayWrite's native data directory.
- GNOME Wayland Direct Typing has been validated locally through IBus across browser textarea, GTK Text Editor, VS Code, and terminal/chat inputs.
Current Support
- GNOME Wayland + IBus: validated Direct Typing path.
- Clipboard Mode: fallback path on unsupported or unvalidated desktops.
- X11, KDE Plasma Wayland, wlroots Wayland: code paths exist, but still need real package validation before broader support claims.
