ESP Gauge 2.3.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Sep 05:33

Clearer source selection, visible firmware progress, and more ways to drive your gauges.

  • Firmware download, writing, verification and restart status now stays below the PCB sketch. Downloads and writes show measured progress; connection and verification stages show activity and elapsed time. Completion requires checking the restarted board’s firmware version.
  • Larger PWM headings make the selected output easy to spot.
  • New Pulse app icon and matching branding throughout the interface.
  • Choose from This computer, ESP32 board, AI tools or Prices, with search across all categories.
  • New GPU usage, CPU/GPU temperature, System volume (your volume setting), and separate Audio level (live playback) sources. Battery only appears when present.
  • Select a drive, network interface, graphics processor or temperature sensor for each gauge.
  • Track an individual Super Tracker product, optionally locked to one store. Basket coverage has been removed. Missing selected-store prices never fall back to another shop.
  • Linear, exponential and logarithmic output scales, with a matching dial preview. Curved scales need the included firmware 2.3.0.
  • Windows setup detects an existing USB driver. Install or repair it from Connect board, with a layout that fits smaller Windows work areas.
Your computer Download
Windows 10 / 11 (x64) Windows installer
macOS 14.6+ (Apple Silicon) macOS disk image
Linux (x64) Linux AppImage

Existing users can update through Settings → Updates. Update both the app and board firmware for curved scales. Gauge assignments and calibration are preserved.

macOS now requires 14.6 or newer for native playback metering. Audio level asks for system audio access; no audio is saved or uploaded. Duplex macOS audio devices are left unavailable to prevent microphone capture. Linux playback metering needs PulseAudio or PipeWire’s PulseAudio service. Hardware sensor support varies: Windows CPU temperatures and additional GPU sensors require Libre Hardware Monitor running; NVIDIA GPU temperature can use its driver directly. Missing readings appear as a dash.

Super Tracker’s production hostname was not resolving during release verification. Product/store selection and parsing were verified against its API definition and controlled fixtures; live prices remain unavailable until that service is reachable. National prices are the lowest current shelf price across retailers’ national medians, in NZ dollars. Store locking uses the exact shop. Club and multibuy promotions are excluded.

The .sig, .json, .bin, and .app.tar.gz files support automatic updates and firmware installation. Linux in-app updates require the AppImage. ESP Gauge verifies update signatures; publisher signing and macOS notarization remain unconfigured.

Easier Windows setup, with the CH340C USB driver included. Downloads now show the operating system in the filename.

Your computer Download
Windows 10 / 11 (x64) Windows installer
macOS (Apple Silicon: M1 or newer) macOS disk image
Linux (x64) Linux AppImage

On Windows, accept the USB driver setup offer, approve the administrator prompt, and choose INSTALL in the WCH window. The driver is included, so no separate download is needed. If your board already connects, you can skip this step. ESP Gauge USB driver setup in the Start menu lets you retry later. WebView2 is downloaded if needed.

Existing users can update through Settings → Updates. App updates skip the driver prompt. Your gauge assignments and calibration are preserved; firmware has the matching version with unchanged behaviour.

For other installation methods: Linux Debian/Ubuntu package, Linux RPM package, and Windows MSI for administrators. MSI and unattended installations require running the bundled driver separately. Linux in-app updates require the AppImage.

The .sig, .app.tar.gz, .json, and .bin assets support automatic updates and firmware installation. Use the downloads in the table for normal installation. This release's Mac build is for Apple Silicon.

ESP Gauge verifies update signatures. WCH's bundled driver retains its vendor signature; ESP Gauge publisher signing and macOS notarization are not configured.

More precise header selection and a refined board interface.

  • Click the actual silhouette of any PWM header. Selection, hover and keyboard focus follow the supplied connector outlines, including shared edges.
  • Leader traces clear neighbouring connectors, making each label's physical output easier to follow.
  • The Add a gauge view uses the custom header drawing, with graphite faces, a dark recess and pale metal contacts.

Existing gauge assignments and calibration are preserved. Firmware is included with the matching version; its behaviour is unchanged from 2.2.2.

Install through Settings → Updates, or download a package for Apple Silicon or Intel macOS, Windows x64, or Linux x64. Linux in-app updates use the AppImage. Update signatures are verified by ESP Gauge; publisher signing and macOS notarization are not configured.

Physical gauges for your AI work, and standalone waveform generators.

  • Discover Codex, Claude Code and OpenCode automatically, including Windows agent-lock handling. Choose working agents, CLI sessions, memory, tokens or the subscription quota windows actually available for the installed provider.
  • Pair with a running local codeslop / T3 Code server for working agents, tasks needing attention, completed turns, tool calls and context-window usage.
  • Sine, triangle, sawtooth and square-wave sources run on the ESP32 without the PC. Adjust their period and phase directly.
  • Super Tracker food-price index, monthly/yearly movement and coverage, using the production supertracker.nz public API. Sources become available when that upcoming endpoint is live.
  • Raw-value ranges support nonzero and negative starting points. Existing electrical calibration remains unchanged.
  • Edits are held during installation, preventing changes from racing an app restart or firmware flash.
  • Linux AppImages use a checksum-pinned compatible runtime and gzip compression, including support for existing AppImageLauncher 2 installations.

Update both the app and firmware through Settings → Updates to use waveforms. Existing settings are preserved. AI quota sources depend on the provider, account type and an existing login; absent data is shown as unavailable. Claude's five-hour and weekly quotas were verified on Linux; expired logins show an explanation instead of a fabricated reading.

Signed packages include Apple Silicon and Intel macOS, Windows x64 and Linux x64. Use the Linux AppImage for in-app updates. Publisher signing and macOS notarization are not configured; ESP Gauge verifies separate mandatory update signatures.

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Sep 21:22

A first public test release of the native six-channel gauge monitor.

  • Calibrate both ends of a gauge across the full 0–100% PWM range. Existing full-scale settings are retained, with a zero lower endpoint.
  • Port labels and traces recede when USB disconnects; the dimmed PCB stays centred.
  • Embedded macOS title bar with native window controls.
  • Install or update firmware from Settings → Updates. The native ESP32 flasher checks the chip, verifies signed release metadata and binary checksums, and preserves the configuration partition.
  • Automatic release checks and signed app updates from the same GitHub release.
  • Firmware split into configuration, output engine, serial protocol, sensing and indicator modules.

Packages include Apple Silicon and Intel macOS, Windows x64 and Linux x64. Linux in-app updates use the AppImage; deb/RPM installations should be updated with the matching package. Platform publisher signing and macOS notarization are not configured; update signatures are separate and are verified by ESP Gauge.

The board has no electrical or needle feedback. Calibrate against the physical gauge using the resistor chosen for your instrument. All outputs support 0–100% duty; absent readings and paused gauges rest at zero output.
