Helix 3.0.3
Helix 3.0.3
Helix 3.0.3 focuses on camera performance and several AD5X fixes.
What's Changed
Smoother Android Camera
- Reworked the U1 camera path to use the printer's H.264 stream on Android.
- Greatly reduced camera bandwidth compared to the previous high-bandwidth JPEG/MJPEG path.
- Full-speed video without the large network backlog that could cause printer controls and other requests to lag.
- Snapshot/MJPEG fallback remains available when H.264 cannot be used.
AD5X Fixes
- Fixed the AD5X printer screen freezing while using Helix.
- Fixed AD5X filament slots failing to load when connected over Tailscale.
Other Fixes
- Fixed duplicate open-source license handling introduced during the 3.0.3 merge.
- Updated camera regression tests for the new H.264 streaming implementation.
- Removed obsolete Goldie captures and scripts.
Thanks for using Helix.

Helix 3.0.0 — Major visual refresh
Major visual refresh based on popular demand, plus reliability improvements and bug fixes
throughout Helix.
Helix 1.2.8
Re-slice on Print
Pick any loaded material in the Prepare&Slice print dialog — Helix re-slices into it (with that material's temps/profile) before sending. Single-material swap, multi-color→single collapse, and per-color remap. Re-slice preserves your supports/brim/infill/ironing settings.
Printer stale-screen fix
Helix no longer restarts Moonraker on every launch or FCM registration (idempotent config writes on app + relay). Combined with the printer-side status_objects fix, the touchscreen stays live instead of freezing on a ghost print.
Multi-color
Per-object extruder is now honored (via model_settings.config); preview and printed colors are correct.
Plate extraction (large files)
Streaming rewrite fixes the OOM on big multi-plate 3MFs; external part-file meshes are inlined; generated extruder config keeps multi-color intact.
Translations
Full coverage for Spanish, German, French, Chinese, and Polish.
Helix 1.2.7
What's new
- Fixed multi-plate 3MF preview failures — selecting a plate no longer errors with "Native engine could not load this model". The chosen plate is now repacked into a minimal core-spec 3MF the slicer engine accepts.
- Fixed OOM/crashes on large models — extraction now streams via an XML pull parser, so even big files (88MB Monkey / 57MB Stitch) load without running out of memory.
- External part-file meshes supported — models storing geometry in
3D/Objects/object_N.model(referenced by component groups) are now inlined and flattened correctly. - New Prepare & Slice progress bar — real byte-counted percentage, phase labels, and status messages while your plate is being prepared.
- Instant plate selection — tapping a plate card is immediate; extraction now runs when you press Prepare & Slice.
Version
1.2.6 → 1.2.7
Helix 1.2.6
What's changed
- Filament selector overhaul: replaced the 9-item flat material list with the full firmware catalog — 42 base polymers (PLA, PETG, PEEK, PEKK, PA, PC…) + 16 subtypes (CF, GF, Silk, Matte, HF, 95A…). Compound materials like PLA-CF are now MAIN=PLA + SUB=CF, matching how the firmware actually works.
- Smart subtype filtering: picking a material now shows only valid subtypes for it (TPU gets 95A, PLA gets Silk/Matte/Wood, soluble support gets Basic only).
- Sliding picker dialogs: material/subtype/brand dropdowns now open a scrollable bottom sheet instead of dumping everything on screen.
- Slicer temp safety: picking PEEK/PEKK/PEI now slices at the correct ~400°C instead of silently falling back to 220°C PLA temps. Every material uses its real firmware temp range.
- Faster reconnect: fixed zombie-WebSocket bug where the printer connection hung for 30-60s after backgrounding the app — now forces a fresh reconnect when returning after 3+ seconds.
- 71 regression tests (up from ~30) covering filament command building, material catalog conformance, and temp resolution.
