Things that work in Faugus Launcher that do not work in other Launchers #123

Description

@joeknock90

This isn't an issue but there isn't a place for discussions. I want to point out a few things that I find important advantages of your launcher that other do not work on other launchers (namely Heroic and Lutris)

  1. Steam Shortcuts
    The other launchers do support automatically adding shortcuts to steam. HOWEVER, when you launch them from steam, it gets handed off to the other launcher from there, and steam forgets about the process. This is important because it breaks something for my use case:
    Non-Steam games with Moondeck/Sunshine.

The way that moondeck monitors if a games is running is by parsing steam logs. So when you launch a non steam game that calls other launchers, the stream closes because Steam believes that the app is no longer running. This doesn't happen with your launcher. Thank you.

  1. Dynamic Gamescope Resolution with KDE
    Using this: Default to native resolution ValveSoftware/gamescope#797 (comment)
    You can achieve using your default resolution as the render resolution for gamescope. This is mostly useful for Moonlight/Sunshine again because you can switch between the internal or external display using the correct resolution.

It seems the other launchers do not support the shell substitutions required for this to work. However, again, your launcher doesn't have this issue.

So thank you again.

Just wanted to make you, and other people aware of these advantages.
