Align v0.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Sep 23:32

Align synchronizes camera footage and separately recorded audio using waveform
matching, timecode, and recording metadata.

What's new in 0.3.0

  • Application menu on Windows and Linux. The Menu button is available in
the top toolbar and on the empty start screen. It opens About, Check for
Updates, Use with AI Agents, Path Fixer, analysis-cache settings, and theme
selection using the same actions as the native macOS menu. macOS continues
to use its native menu bar without an in-window Menu button.
  • Consistent menu contents. The in-window menu follows the registered
application menus, including the selected theme. macOS system items such as
Services, Hide, and Window are omitted.
  • Escape to dismiss. Escape closes the application menu, timeline context
menu, and About panel. Clicking outside the application menu also closes it.

macOS 15+ (Apple Silicon) Align-0.3.0-macOS-arm64.dmg
Windows 10/11 (x64) Align-0.3.0-Windows-x64-Setup.exe
Fedora (x86_64) Align-0.3.0-Fedora-x86_64-Setup.run or Align-0.3.0-Fedora-x86_64.rpm
Omarchy / Arch Linux (x86_64) Align-0.3.0-Omarchy-x86_64-Setup.run or align-0.3.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Every build includes the desktop app, the CLI, the MCP server, and the AAF
module. No separate Python installation is needed.

macOS

Open the DMG and drag Align to Applications. The app is ad-hoc signed,
not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS says the app is damaged, move it
to /Applications, then for a copy downloaded from this release run:

sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Align.app"
open "/Applications/Align.app"

Windows

Run Align-0.3.0-Windows-x64-Setup.exe. It installs for the current user,
adds Align to the Start menu, and installs the Microsoft VC++ runtime if needed.
Running it over an earlier version upgrades that installation. The installer is
unsigned, so SmartScreen may ask for confirmation.

Fedora and Omarchy / Arch

The .run installers open a graphical installer in Align's style and ask for
system authorization. Run them as your ordinary user:

chmod +x Align-0.3.0-Fedora-x86_64-Setup.run
./Align-0.3.0-Fedora-x86_64-Setup.run

Or install the native package directly with
sudo dnf install ./Align-0.3.0-Fedora-x86_64.rpm or
sudo pacman -U ./align-0.3.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst. Choose one method; each
.run contains the same package. Linux requires glibc 2.39+, a working Vulkan
driver, and GTK 4 with polkit for the graphical installer. Later versions install
from inside Align, behind the same system authorization prompt.

Sources and verification

align-source-<platform>.tar.gz contains the corresponding Align source, locked
and vendored Rust dependencies, the FFmpeg source used on Linux and Windows, and
the AAF component sources. License notices are included in every installer.
Align is licensed under GPL-3.0-only.

Each download has a .sha256 file. Verify from the download directory, for
example shasum -a 256 -c Align-0.3.0-macOS-arm64.dmg.sha256.

Every installer in this release was built and checked by GitHub Actions: tests
and lint on all three platforms, end-to-end synchronization and export checks,
and a package installation test on Fedora and Arch Linux.

Align v0.2.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Sep 13:31
3081008

Align synchronizes camera footage and separately recorded audio using waveform
matching, timecode, and recording metadata.

What's new in 0.2.0

  • Much faster synchronization. MOV, MP4 and WAV (including RF64/BW64) are
read natively instead of through FFmpeg. On a 22-file test set, a full
synchronization dropped from about 11 s to under 1 s with the same accuracy.
  • Faster media export. Camera files with replacement audio are written
natively, in a fraction of a second instead of several seconds.
  • Smaller macOS app. macOS no longer bundles FFmpeg; Linux and Windows ship
a slimmer FFmpeg build (about 9 MB instead of 19 MB).
  • Refined interface. Round timeline ruler steps, smoother progress,
a real drop zone, clearer search-accuracy settings, and Ctrl shortcuts on
Windows and Linux (F11 for full screen).
  • Updates on every platform. Align checks for a new release at launch and
offers it in a small card. One click downloads it, verifies its checksum and
installs it: through the Windows installer, by replacing the app on macOS, or
through dnf/pacman on Fedora and Arch. Copies of 0.1.0 do not check for
updates, so install this release manually once.
  • Windows fixes. Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro exports now reference
Windows media with valid file URLs, the app has its icon, and no console
    windows flash while it works.

Align 0.1.0 — macOS, Windows, Fedora & Omarchy

Choose a tag to compare

@FedyaLight FedyaLight released this 22 Sep 18:28

Align synchronizes camera footage and separately recorded audio using waveform matching, timecode, and recording metadata.

This release includes macOS Apple Silicon (macOS 15+), Windows 10/11 x64, Fedora x86_64, and Omarchy / Arch Linux x86_64 installers. It is an early release; review synchronized groups and exported timelines before using them in an edit.

Install

  1. Download Align-0.1.0-macOS-arm64.dmg.
  2. Open it and drag Align to Applications.
  3. Launch Align from Applications.

The app includes FFmpeg, ffprobe, the AAF module, the CLI, and the MCP server. No separate Python installation is needed. Export options include Premiere Pro XML, Final Cut Pro FCPXML, DaVinci Resolve workflows, and linked AAF. See the user guide and format limits.

macOS security message

The app is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS says the app is damaged, first move it to /Applications. For a copy downloaded from this release, remove the quarantine flag and open it:

sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Align.app"
open "/Applications/Align.app"

Sources and verification

align-source-macOS.tar.gz contains the corresponding Align source, locked and vendored Rust dependencies, FFmpeg and AAF/runtime sources, build instructions, and a build manifest. Licenses and dependency notices are also included inside Align.app/Contents/Resources. Align is licensed under GPL-3.0-only.

The .sha256 files accompany both downloads. Verify them from the download directory:

shasum -a 256 -c Align-0.1.0-macOS-arm64.dmg.sha256
shasum -a 256 -c align-source-macOS.tar.gz.sha256

Validated on macOS Apple Silicon: 350 Rust tests, 10 AAF tests, 3 source-packaging checks, 8 end-to-end synchronization/export checks, application launch, bundle signature, and DMG integrity. Intel Mac installers are not included.

Windows, Fedora and Omarchy installers

  • Windows: run Align-0.1.0-Windows-x64-Setup.exe. Installs for the current user and bootstraps the Microsoft VC++ runtime if needed. The installer is unsigned.
  • Fedora: run chmod +x Align-0.1.0-Fedora-x86_64-Setup.run and then ./Align-0.1.0-Fedora-x86_64-Setup.run, or install the separate RPM with sudo dnf install ./Align-0.1.0-Fedora-x86_64.rpm.
  • Omarchy / Arch: run chmod +x Align-0.1.0-Omarchy-x86_64-Setup.run and then ./Align-0.1.0-Omarchy-x86_64-Setup.run, or use sudo pacman -U ./align-0.1.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst.

The Linux graphical installers use Align's dark theme and the system authorization prompt. Run them as your ordinary user. GTK4 and polkit are needed for the graphical installer. Linux requires glibc 2.39+ and a working Vulkan driver. Keep Omarchy / Arch current before installing. Each .run contains the corresponding native package; choose one installation method. Native Linux packages are updated by installing a newer package, rather than through Velopack.

These builds include the GUI, CLI, MCP server, AAF module, FFmpeg and ffprobe. No separate Python installation is needed.

Validation: Fedora 44 package installation/reinstallation, dependency and integrity checks, and installer rendering passed. All eight Linux synchronization/export checks passed. On Arch, pacman installation, integrity of all 2077 installed files, installer rendering, and all eight synchronization/export checks passed. Windows installation and installed binary hashes were checked under CrossOver; seven initial end-to-end checks and the remaining lifecycle check after the Windows file-URL fix passed, along with 53 export tests.

GUI validation limitation: full application rendering has not been verified on native Windows or a real Omarchy/Hyprland desktop. CrossOver lacks the Windows system icuuc.dll needed by the GUI. These are early builds; the successful CLI checks do not establish complete desktop compatibility.

Corresponding sources: Align-0.1.0-Local-Sources.tar.gz contains the source snapshot, vendored dependencies and component sources for the added Windows/Linux binaries. Align-0.1.0-Omarchy-Packaging.tar.gz adds the Omarchy packaging scripts, exact PKGBUILD and payload. These local builds include changes beyond the original macOS tag; use these attached source bundles to reproduce them, rather than GitHub's automatically generated tag archive. SHA-256 files accompany every installer and source archive. See README.txt, README-Omarchy.txt, Verification.json and Omarchy-Verification.json for installation instructions and check results.
