Sumi 0.0.9
Sumi 0.0.9
This release makes Developer Tools open the active page inspector, restores navigated Favorites to the right address, and moves several browser storage paths off the main thread.
Highlights
- The Developer Tools command and Command-Option-I open the docked Web Inspector for the active page, including a Glance preview, instead of showing instructions.
- A restored Favorite that had navigated away from its saved address loads its current page after startup and when selected as the fallback after closing another Favorite.
- Boost data loads without blocking the browser, applies to pages that are already open when loading finishes, and preserves edits made during the load.
- Session snapshots are written outside the main thread, and cached favicon reads no longer pull cold metadata from the database, reducing storage-related stalls during browsing.

Sumi-0.0.9-build14-macos-arm64.dmgis the single immutable artifact for direct installs and Sparkle updates.- Both Sparkle feeds point eligible Apple-silicon installations to the same signed Arm64 item.
- The appcast hardware requirement is
arm64. An older Sumi installation on an Apple-silicon Mac can update, including an Intel build running under Rosetta. Native Intel Macs receive no incompatible update. - Historic Intel and Universal release assets remain available.
Installation Boundary
The app is development-signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS says the app is damaged, move it to /Applications and remove the quarantine flag:
sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Sumi.app"
open "/Applications/Sumi.app"Run this only for a Sumi bundle intentionally downloaded from the official GitHub Release.
Sumi 0.0.8
Sumi 0.0.8
This release fixes restored-tab fallback loading, makes History and Bookmarks navigation immediate, and removes an unwanted sidebar animation during launch.
Highlights
- Opening a History or Bookmarks link in the current tab replaces the library page immediately instead of leaving it visible while the destination loads.
- A new General setting can open History and Bookmarks links in a new tab by default. Command-click continues to open a new tab regardless of the setting.
- Closing the active tab while a restored session is still starting loads the selected fallback tab automatically instead of leaving it cold until another click.
- Restored sidebar visibility snaps into place at launch instead of animating after the window appears, so the loading indicator no longer slides with it.

Sumi 0.0.7
Sumi 0.0.7
This release fixes first-load extension scripts and permission prompt sequencing, and corrects several everyday browser interactions.
Highlights
- Extension content scripts now run on the first page loaded in a newly opened tab instead of requiring a reload.
- Dismissing a site permission prompt settles the request and releases the sidebar. Queued prompts advance after the current decision.
- Command-W closes Settings when Settings is focused instead of closing a browser tab behind it.
- The Command Palette no longer repeats the typed search query as a suggestion. Pressing Return searches the entered text unless another result is selected.
- Certificate trust approval stays with the tab for its related page resources, while the URL Hub continues to mark the page as not secure.
- Favicon selection is consistent between the initial load and later page updates. High-quality raster resampling improves diagonal edges, and repeated sidebar reads avoid duplicate repository lookups.

Sumi 0.0.6
Sumi 0.0.6
This release fixes downloads and webpage actions, makes sidebar selection and hover reliable, and keeps host-specific Adblock cosmetic rules off unrelated pages.
Highlights
- Gmail attachments served from directory-style URLs now download correctly.
- Webpage context menus have working commands for linked-file downloads, image saving, image copying, and text-fragment links.
- Selected sidebar items scroll into view with the smallest necessary movement, while background opens leave the current viewport alone.
- Promoting a Glance preview into a tab preserves CSS hover and the correct pointing-hand cursor.
- Domain-scoped cosmetic rules run only on matching hosts through the advanced Adblock pipeline. Existing compiled generations migrate locally.
- Favicons prefer appropriately sized sources, avoid uneven scaling, and reuse the canonical cache across sidebar surfaces.
Browsing and Interaction
- Dragging from the top of a webpage no longer moves the browser window, so text selection and other page interactions work there. Window dragging remains available from the sidebar control strip.
- Windows restored fully off-screen after a display change return to a visible screen.
- Collapsed-sidebar hover no longer leaves stale hover state on the webpage underneath transient browser chrome.
- Terminal WebKit key events no longer produce a system beep after Sumi handles them.
- Browser-owned loading and certificate-warning surfaces follow the active Space and effective light or dark appearance.
Adblock and Favicons
- Generic and exclusion-based cosmetic rules remain in WebKit for first-paint blocking. Only host-specific selectors move to the per-host advanced pipeline.
- Installed Adblock generations migrate to the new cosmetic-domain artifact locally, without downloading a replacement generation or changing the selected filters and site exceptions.
- Favicon selection prefers a declared source large enough for the target, while SVG sources remain scalable.
- Near-target raster favicons use integer scaling to avoid uneven pixels. Favorite backdrop blur work runs off the main thread.

Sumi 0.0.5
Alpha 5 moves Sumi's release channel to a single Apple-silicon build, replaces prepared blocking bundles with locally built Adblock generations, and makes browser-owned storage cleanup safer and more bounded.
Highlights
- One signed Arm64 DMG serves both direct installs and Sparkle updates. Alpha 4 is the final Intel-compatible build for installations that already have it; native Intel Macs are never offered an incompatible archive.
- Adblock now downloads the filter lists you choose and compiles one atomic native WebKit and advanced-blocking generation locally. Existing per-site overrides remain intact.
- Regular-profile storage lifecycle work adds a bounded HTTP disk-cache budget, safe reclamation of stale persistent website data and extension-controller storage, and a shared regular-profile favicon store while private windows remain isolated.
- Site permission decisions migrate to the regular install-wide scope so a browser-level decision is consistent across regular profiles.
Browser and Storage Reliability
- Cache maintenance only deletes eligible regular-profile HTTP caches through the browser's destructive-cleanup admission path, and retries an interrupted upgrade instead of marking it complete.
- Stale website-data and extension-controller namespaces are reclaimed in bounded batches without touching live profile state.
- Older per-profile regular favicon caches migrate to the shared regular store; private favicon state stays separate.
Adblock
- Removed the prepared protection-bundle workflow.
- Applying selected filters now builds a verified local generation for WebKit content blocking and advanced rules together.
- Retention removes inactive generations without disturbing the current selection or user site exceptions.
Polish and Settings
- Settings reliably comes to the front when opened.
- Certificate warnings route and present through the active browser surface.
- Sidebar hover actions respond immediately, unloaded regular tabs no longer show an extra indicator dot, and Space title chevrons no longer overshoot.
- URL Hub popovers use the corrected presentation surface.

Sumi-0.0.5-build9-macos-arm64.dmg— Apple-silicon Macs and Sparkle updates.- Both historic Sparkle feeds point eligible Apple-silicon installations directly to Alpha 5.
- A native Intel Mac receives no Arm-only update. Alpha 4 is the final Intel-compatible build for installations that already have it.
Installation Boundary
The app is development-signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS says the app is damaged, move it to /Applications and remove the quarantine flag:

Sumi 0.0.4
Alpha 4 improves redirect and external-app handoffs, keeps navigation feedback continuous, makes Sidebar Mini Player sessions more predictable, and prevents automatic history retention from signing users out of websites.
Highlights
- OAuth and other external-app callbacks can complete from an active main-frame redirect after the original WebKit gesture has expired.
- The loading indicator remains continuous across short redirect and successor-navigation chains.
- Private-window pages are resolved from their window-local ephemeral session and appear in the compositor correctly.
- Sidebar Mini Player controls stay scoped to the exact page session and window that owns each card.
- Automatic retention removes expired history without deleting website data or sign-ins.
Navigation and External Apps
- Limited automatic external-app attempts to one per page while keeping iframe, background, Glance, and other non-normal surfaces blocked.
- Hardened stored external-app permissions so they cannot be reused by subframes or auxiliary surfaces, even after a user interaction.
- Preserved the committed page across redirect settlement and presentation-URL changes so popup and page ownership remain attached to the document actually on screen.
- Recovered the exact current document when WebKit finishes a rewritten navigation without delivering its commit callback.
Sidebar Mini Player
- Kept cards stable after pausing or muting from the Mini Player, without resuming media when the page is activated.
- Made dismissed cards stay dismissed until a new audible playback session starts.
- Rolled back failed or stale playback, mute, Picture in Picture, and dismissal commands cleanly.
Privacy
- Automatic retention now deletes only browsing history older than the selected period. Website data and sign-ins are preserved.
- Manual website-data and cache clearing remain available from Data & Recovery.
- Private-window WebViews remain window-scoped and are now attached to their visible compositor correctly.
