v0.16 - cutscene/menu fix + live flight FOV
Ultrawide cutscene/menu fix + live flight FOV for ACE COMBAT 8 (UE 5.4, UE4SS Lua).
Removes the black side bars on real-time cutscenes, menus and the hangar on 21:9 / 32:9 and wider screens, and adds an adjustable FOV for the third-person, cockpit and HUD-only flight views.
New in v0.16 - crash hardening (flight FOV part)
- Same features as v0.15 (live flight FOV per view, PageUp/PageDown/Home, cutscene/menu fix unchanged).
- v0.15 crashed once, right after gameplay resumed from a mid-mission cutscene (access violation inside the per-frame FOV code). v0.16 rebuilds its camera lists from fresh scans once a second, forgets everything at each level start / cutscene return, and stays hands-off for ~3 s after it.
- Side effect: after a level start or cutscene, the FOV lock comes back after 1-3 seconds.
- If the game still crashes, set
FlightFOV = falseinScripts\config.lua(cutscene/menu fix only) and please open an issue with the crash folder from%LOCALAPPDATA%\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\ACE COMBAT 8\Saved\Crashes.
Install: install UE4SS (UE 5.4 support), then extract this zip into ACE COMBAT 8\Game\Binaries\Win64\. Upgrading from v0.8 or v0.15: overwrite the files.

v0.15 - cutscene/menu fix + live flight FOV
SUPERSEDED by v0.16, which hardens the flight FOV part after a crash seen right after a mid-mission cutscene. Use v0.16.
v0.8 — Stable cutscene & menu ultrawide fix
Stable cutscene & menu ultrawide fix for ACE COMBAT 8 (UE 5.4, UE4SS Lua).
Removes the black side bars on real-time cutscenes, menus and the hangar on 21:9 / 32:9 and wider screens.
How: AC8's camera classes cap the picture with their own AspectRatioMax (2.4, the "21:9 max"). The mod raises it to your screen's aspect ratio, and the game builds the full-width (Hor+) view itself.
Install: install UE4SS (UE 5.4 support), then extract this zip into ACE COMBAT 8\Game\Binaries\Win64\.
Keys: F8 toggles the fix on/off, F7 writes a snapshot to the log.
Confirmed in-game on 32:9 (5120×1440): full width in cutscenes and menus, and a 37-minute session with no crashes.
