[1.39.0] — 2026-05-18

WS8.2 — LLM provider selector + OpenAI/Codex key + interactive init wizard.

✨ Features

  • feat(config): LLM_PROVIDER selector + OPENAI_API_KEY — server/lib/env-config.mjs adds LLM_PROVIDER (auto|claude|gemini) + OPENAI_API_KEY to KNOWN_KEYS/KEY_GROUPS; OPENAI_API_KEY is secret-masked. New providerOrder(env) helper: auto→[anthropic,gemini] (legacy), claude→[anthropic], gemini→[gemini]. All 6 provider-gate sites in server/lib/routes/llm.mjs (evaluate/deep/mode × Anthropic/Gemini) consult it via _provGate() — a forced provider with no key falls through to the manual-prompt path exactly like the pre-v1.39 no-key behaviour (zero behaviour change for auto/default). #/config API-keys tab gains an LLM_PROVIDER select + OPENAI_API_KEY input. Provider-key set matches what santifer/career-ops actually implements (Gemini = parent gemini-eval, Anthropic = web-ui SDK + Claude Code, OpenAI = Codex/OpenCode CLI side); Mistral/Qwen are model names with no parent env key — not invented.
  • feat(cli): interactive career-ops-ui init — scripts/init.mjs is now a real wizard (was a WS8.1 stub): pick provider 1-4, enter key(s), writes parent .env via the validated env-config.updateEnvFile path (explicit user action, same as POST /api/config). Flag-driven too: --provider --anthropic-key --gemini-key --openai-key --yes.

🧪 Tests

  • test: tests/provider-selector.test.mjs — 7 cases: providerOrder (auto/unknown/whitespace → legacy, claude/gemini forced), env-config surface (KNOWN/SECRET/LLM_PROVIDERS), init parseArgs+buildUpdates (clamp, non-empty-only), and a static canary that all 6 llm.mjs gate-sites use _provGate(). 622 → 629.
