07. Death RP
A permanent death system for immersive RP servers. When a player dies while Death RP is active for them, their death message is replaced by a configurable broadcast and their vanilla death is otherwise unaffected (no data is deleted, no ban is applied automatically).
Config: [DeathRP] section of rpessentials-core.toml.
For a given player, Death RP is active if, in this order:
- An individual override exists for that player (
/rpessentials deathrp player <player> enable true|false). - Otherwise, Death Hours is enabled and the current time is inside a configured slot (see Server Schedule).
- Otherwise, the global toggle
globalEnabledis used.
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
globalEnabled |
false |
Global state of the system. |
whitelistRemove |
false |
Automatically removes the player from the whitelist on RP death. |
deathMessage (deathEvent) |
see config | Broadcast to everyone on RP death. Placeholders: {player} (nickname), {realname}. |
deathSound / deathSoundVolume / deathSoundPitch
|
minecraft:entity.wither.death, 1.0, 1.0
|
Sound played to everyone on RP death, none disables it. |
enableMessage / disableMessage (playerToggle) |
see config | Sent to a player when their individual override changes. |
toggleSound (playerToggle) |
minecraft:block.note_block.pling |
Sound on individual toggle. |
enableMessage / disableMessage (globalToggle) |
see config | Broadcast when the global toggle changes. Placeholder: {staff}. |
globalToggleSound (globalToggle) |
minecraft:ui.toast.challenge_complete |
Sound on global toggle. |
Each message option has a matching *Mode value: CHAT, ACTION_BAR, TITLE, or IMMERSIVE (optionally IMMERSIVE:presetName, see the [Immersive Presets] section of rpessentials-rp.toml).
-
/rpessentials deathrp enable <true|false>: toggle globally. -
/rpessentials deathrp player <player> enable <true|false>: individual override. -
/rpessentials deathrp player <player> reset: remove the override, the player follows the global state again. -
/rpessentials deathrp status: shows the global state, whitelist removal setting, and every active override. -
/rpessentials deathrp history [player]: shows the recorded death history.
Every RP death is logged with the player name, UUID, timestamp, damage cause and the exact broadcast message sent. deathHistoryMaxDays in rpessentials-moderation.toml controls how long entries are kept before automatic purging (a value of 0 disables purging). Stored in world/data/rpessentials/deathrp-history.json.
