MJ-Control v0.2-pre2 Release Notes

This pre-release update introduces significant improvements to the MJ-Control client, enhancing its usability, stability, and overall feature set. Below are the key changes and new features included in this release:

New Features

  • Modular UI with Tabbed Interface:

    • The interface is now organized into multiple tabs (e.g., "Prompt Settings" and "Logs & Debugging") using Tkinter's Notebook widget for improved organization and scalability.

  • Multiple Prompt Templates:

    • Supports a list of custom prompt templates with full add/modify/remove functionality.
    • Templates are saved persistently to Prompts.json and reloaded on startup.
    • A "Cycle Current" button updates the next template indicator so users can easily select which prompt template will be used next.

  • StopAfter Feature with Toggle:

    • Introduced a configurable "StopAfter" setting to automatically stop prompt generation after a specified total number of prompts.
    • Includes a checkbox to enable/disable this feature, allowing the generator to run indefinitely if desired.
    • When the StopAfter limit is reached, the server stops and the UI status updates accordingly.

  • Real-Time Counters on Main Tab:

    • New counters display the total number of prompts generated since the server started.
    • A concurrent prompt counter shows the number of active prompts (i.e., those that are still in progress) out of the maximum allowed.

  • Enhanced Logging and Log Viewer:

    • All events and status messages are logged to both the console and a session log file (Session.log).
    • A dedicated log viewer tab displays log messages in real time with color coding based on log level (e.g., errors in red, warnings in dark orange, info in blue, neutral messages in gray).
    • A "Clear Log" button is available to quickly clear the log viewer.

  • Improved Prompt Tracking:

    • The client now maintains persistent tracking of each prompt's progress (e.g., "10% Complete", "progress_complete") even if prompt nodes move off-screen.
    • Progress updates are consolidated to avoid excessive duplicate logging.

  • WebSocket Server Stability:

    • Fixed a handshake error by removing the unsupported create_protocol parameter and updating the handler to accept an optional path parameter.
    • The server now properly resets counters on restart so that each new session begins from zero.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Server Restart Behavior:

    • The counters (total prompts and prompt tracking) are reset when the server is restarted, ensuring that previous session data does not affect new runs.
    • Settings and prompt templates are automatically saved to file on server start to prevent unsaved changes.

  • UI Resizing Issues:

    • Fixed UI layout issues by setting fixed widths and proper anchoring for labels (e.g., the "Next Template" label), preventing unwanted window resizing due to long text entries.

  • StopAfter Notification:

    • When the StopAfter limit is reached, the server stops prompt generation and the UI is updated to display "Server OFF".

Known Issues

  • Some edge cases in prompt progress tracking when prompt nodes move significantly in the DOM might still occur; further adjustments may be required based on live usage feedback.
