Fixes Finder access being blocked on downloaded copies.

Everyone on 1.0.0 should update. The 1.0.0 build was signed with the hardened runtime but without the com.apple.security.automation.apple-events entitlement, so macOS refused to let it talk to Finder and never showed the permission prompt — leaving no way to grant access. It failed with "Not authorized to send Apple events to Finder."

Fixed

  • Sign with the Apple Events entitlement, so macOS shows the permission prompt as intended.
  • Ask for Finder access on first launch, rather than failing after you press Arrange.
  • Added Open Privacy Settings and Try Again buttons if permission was declined — macOS never re-prompts on its own, so this is the way back.

Note on first launch

DeskArt isn't notarised, so macOS still blocks the first open. Right-click DeskArt in Applications → Open → Open. Once only.

Arrange your macOS Desktop icons into shapes — text, hearts, spirals, and eleven more.

Install

  1. Download DeskArt.dmg below
  2. Open it and drag DeskArt into Applications
  3. Right-click DeskArt in Applications and choose Open, then Open again

Step 3 matters: DeskArt is not notarised by Apple, so a normal double-click will be refused on first launch. You only need to do it once.

If macOS reports the app as "damaged", clear the quarantine flag:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DeskArt.app

First run

macOS will ask to let DeskArt control Finder. This is required — Finder is the only way to read and set Desktop icon positions.

Turn Desktop sorting off before arranging (right-click Desktop → Sort By → None). With sorting on, Finder immediately undoes any arrangement, and DeskArt will refuse to apply.
