@Firnschnee Firnschnee released this 03 Aug 14:56

Firefox is rolling out IP Protection, and with it a new (quite prominent) VPN button that plants itself right next to the URL bar – labelled, badged, and impossible to miss. If you run FoxOne with the nav-button toggles at their defaults, nothing changes: the button sits there like any other. But if you hide or auto-hide your navigation buttons, the newcomer would have stood alone in the row you had deliberately emptied, the one button that didn't get the memo. @atrehhoff noticed before most users have even seen the button, and filed the fix.

Added

  • #ipprotection-button joins all five nav-button selector lists: permanent hide, auto-hide, hover reveal, focus reveal, and the reduced-motion block. Whatever your toggles do to back, forward, and reload now applies to the VPN button too – including doing nothing at all while both toggles stay at 0. First contribution by @atrehhoff (#41). Thank you for your help ❤️

Notes

  • The button ships behind browser.ipprotection.enabled and is still rolling out, so it may not have reached your profile yet. The rules are inert until it does.
  • FoxOne has a website now: firnschnee.github.io/FoxOne – the README preview, the toggles, and the GIFs, all in one place.
  • As always, this applies to the supported browser.nova.enabled=true configuration.
  • I should really start writing shorter release notes.
