Release list
Mardo 1.0.0
Mardo 1.0 starts the 14-day Mardo Pro trial on first launch. Editing and Export work immediately, and only local calendar days when you use Mardo count. A small trial reminder stays out of the document's keyboard focus. After the trial, reading, Find, Print, and Timewarp remain free; Editing and Export require Mardo Pro.
Rendered Edit now toggles selected quote lines cleanly, keeps format-bar controls in place as labels change, and leaves typed ordered-list markers literal until you press Space. Command-click opens rendered links with the expected hand cursor. This release also fixes deleted files reappearing unexpectedly, stale targeted opens, and a first-launch crash during Markdown default setup.

Mardo 0.9.28
Mardo 0.9.28 displays source newlines as visible line breaks in prose. View, Rendered Edit, Mardo's Finder Quick Look and thumbnail rendering, exported HTML and PDF, and copied text now agree on those line endings. The Markdown file's bytes remain unchanged.
On initial installation, Mardo asks macOS to make it the default app for .md files. If you approve the system request, double-clicking a Markdown file and Quick Look's Open action use Mardo. If you later choose another default app, Mardo leaves that choice alone on updates.

Mardo 0.9.27
Mardo 0.9.27 makes starting a Pro trial return directly to the document you were reading, ready to type or paste. Opening a document no longer interrupts your work with a timed Pro invitation.
When you open a Markdown filename that does not exist yet, Mardo now shows a centered View Only Mode · Blank File prompt without marking the untouched document Edited. You can choose Not Now and ask to start the trial again by clicking the prompt. If another tool creates or updates that file, the same window displays and follows its text without requiring Pro. Any local unsaved draft stays protected when another writer creates the destination.

Mardo 0.9.26
Mardo 0.9.26 keeps list markers when copied content reaches applications that
flatten clipboard HTML, including LinkedIn. Bullets, authored ordered values,
task states, and nested items remain visible instead of depending on the
receiving application to recreate them.
Rendered editing now treats an ordinary hyphen in prose as ordinary text.
Typing words around hyphens no longer leaves the following text highlighted as
unfinished Markdown, while real line-start lists, headings, Setext headings,
and thematic breaks retain their structural behavior.

Mardo 0.9.25
Mardo 0.9.25 adds File → New from Clipboard, turning copied Markdown, rich
text, or plain text into a recoverable untitled draft. Always on Top can now
keep a document above ordinary application windows when you need a persistent
reference.
Native display math is now centered as document typography, and bounded math
fences plus common MDX theorem, lemma, and proof markers read naturally while
unsupported source remains visible.
Copy now offers semantic HTML and rich text before its plain fallback, with
bullets and labeled link destinations retained even in plain text. Rich paste
preserves block structure beneath inline formatting, explicit opens activate
correctly from full-screen windows, and cold launch work has reduced startup
to Mardo's measured native floor.

Mardo 0.9.24
Mardo 0.9.24 restores never-saved drafts after an interrupted process with
their exact text and selection. A first Save safely transfers recovery to the
saved file, while Zen Mode now keeps the window title to the document name
alone.
HTML export now derives its reading rhythm from Mardo's measured native text,
preserves authored blank-line spacing, and matches the app's text smoothing
and accented list markers.
This release also makes Homebrew-installed Finder previews activate reliably.
Launching Mardo repairs stale Quick Look registration without restarting
Finder or disturbing already-correct preview providers.

Mardo 0.9.23
Mardo 0.9.23 opens quietly in View before Mardo Pro is active. The existing
Pro choice now appears when you ask to edit, or once on a later use at least a
day after your first use.
Source Code now includes subtle physical line numbers by default, with the
current line highlighted; View and Rendered Editing can show them by choice.
Nested ordered lists also render at their correct depth.
This release fixes a crash when multiple document windows changed their
toolbars, keeps interactive reference discovery bounded, and avoids allocating
a full large-file read buffer when the available span is smaller.

Mardo 0.9.22
Mardo 0.9.22 remembers whether Zen Mode is on or off across app restarts and
restores that choice before the first document window appears.
This release also keeps Outline discovery bounded around the current area of
very large documents instead of scanning the entire file.

Mardo 0.9.21
Mardo 0.9.21 adds trackpad pinch zoom anchored under the pointer, Open With
and Command-E handoff to a remembered external editor, and one-step Markdown
link creation when a web URL is pasted over selected text in Rendered Edit.
This release also adds first-launch onboarding and opens .mdx, .mdc,
.qmd, .rmd, .mdtext, and .mdtxt files, including Finder previews.

Mardo 0.9.20
Mardo 0.9.20 fixes long fenced and indented code lines extending past the
right edge in Rendered Edit and View. Code now wraps within the visible
document column while preserving every source byte exactly.
