Release Notes — v0.0.46

Covers changes from v0.0.45 to v0.0.46.

Hole

  • New Hole feature: clearance, tapped and drilled holes from the fastener tables, with counterbore, countersink and blind depths.
  • Place holes on connectors or sketch vertices.
  • Fasten to the solid below (.fasten()) taps the matching hole in the next solid along each hole's axis.

Section views

  • section() saves a cut of the model, listed in the viewport's section menu.
  • Each body gets a hatched cap in its own colour, and overlapping bodies show in red.
  • Drag the arrow to move the cut.

Materials and mass

  • part(...).material(id) with 17 built-in materials, plus your own in Settings › Materials.
  • Set material… on a part row's menu.
  • Shape Properties gets a Part tab with the part's mass and centre of mass.

Parts and assemblies

  • property() publishes computed values that assemblies read as instance.properties.<name>.
  • Assemblies get their own Parameters panel, and the insert dialogs accept expressions.
  • Renaming a parameter, property, part or instance renames its variable and every use across files.

Connector copies

  • copy() copies connectors: bolt.instance(1), bolt.instance(2), … mate like any connector.
  • copy(holes, bolt) puts a connector on every instance of a repeat.
  • Assemblies can copy their own connectors.

Start screen in the browser

  • npx fluidcad opens the start screen in the browser, each project in its own tab.
  • --projects, --host and --public-url serve it to other machines. (#75)
  • Desktop: projects open in the start screen's window, with Close Project to go back.
  • New projects start with an empty part instead of the box sample.

Sketching

  • The Offset tool writes constrained geometry held by a new offsetFrom() constraint.
  • The 2D Fillet tool keeps the shape's size and position.
  • 2D copy and mirror accept guide geometry.

Modeling

  • A repeat can repeat another repeat: repeat('mirror', 'front', row).
  • Round lofts are one face with exact circular rims, and can be shelled.
  • Helical sweeps keep the profile orientation and no longer fail on long cuts.
  • Breaking: lofts and helical sweeps may rebuild with different faces and edges.
  • Breaking: a target-less repeat() right after another repeat now repeats the whole pattern, not its last instance.

UI

  • Draggable timeline breakpoint, with later features kept visible while paused.
  • Close other tabs and Remove file in the tab menu.
  • Maximum workers count in Settings › Advanced, and lower engine memory.

Bug Fixes

  • Desktop: projects no longer need the network after an app update. (#80)
  • Cuts and holes in multi-body parts change only the bodies they cut.
  • Repeated scoped features keep cutting the same solid.
  • Workspaces under a path with a space keep their source locations.
