v1.7.4
Download: macOS (Apple Silicon) · Windows · Linux (AppImage)
A security update: the app now runs on Electron 44.
Fixes
- Electron 44 (security): the app moves from Electron 33, which is no longer supported, to Electron 44 (Chromium 152). This fixes a flaw in the Brotli decoder (CVE-2026-111497) that a malicious server could reach when you join someone else's world. On Linux in a Wayland session, the app now runs as a native Wayland app;
--ozone-platform=x11still picks X11. Thanks @akreao. (#715)

The Shadow Cross 4th job quest, Alitea, Night Watch and Shinkiro gear that can finally be equipped, and a max stats setting that now covers every class.
New
- Shadow Cross job change quest: Guillotine Crosses at Base 200 / Job 70 can now become Shadow Crosses through the official quest. It starts with Rumin in the Guillotine Cross guild and ends in the Shadow Manor instance. A field north of Veins that had no warps in Renewal can now be reached. Renewal only. Thanks @MondoTruth. (rathena#79 via #712)
Modding
- Friendly monsters:
api.monsters.friendly(gid)marks a monster your party owns, such as a pet a mod spawns for a companion. It gets the plain cursor instead of the attack one, and attack-nearest skips it. Thanks @AlwaysGH. (#700) equiptakes a position: a script can say which hand or which accessory slot an item goes in, and with two of the same item it now puts on the one that isn't worn yet. Thanks @AlwaysGH. (rathena#82 via #712)
Fixes
- Max stats covers every class: raising the max stats setting now raises the cap for rebirth classes, trans and baby third jobs, and fourth jobs too. Before, they kept their usual caps however high it went. (#710)
- Alitea, Night Watch and Shinkiro gear can be equipped: 53 regional items for these jobs were marked as fourth-job gear, so no one could wear them. The Paradise Mace can now be used by the Druid line too. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#77 via #712)
- Kachua's Secret Box opens: the iRO box now gives the same rewards as rAthena's own Kachua's Secret Box instead of saying its contents aren't available. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#83 via #712)
- Pets and summons aren't enemies: companions and the town population no longer treat a monster a player owns (an Alchemist's sphere, a mod's pet) as a fight to join or a reason to cast. Thanks @AlwaysGH. (#699)
- Shells a mod controls survive a warp: a population character a mod's script is controlling no longer vanishes when the script warps it. Thanks @3122380113. (#694, fixes #693)

Mods can now add their own selection boxes, and AI agent windows no longer play with stale files after a mod update.
Modding
- Mods can add selection boxes: a mod's
selectpackageitemtable is now added to the client's own instead of replacing it, so a box a mod adds can open the same pick-one window as the Booster costume boxes. Boxes the client already knows keep their own choices. Thanks @akreao. (#704, roBrowserLegacy#232 via #705)
Fixes
- AI agents see your mod changes too: each AI agent's game window keeps a file cache of its own, and it now drops it when your mods change, the same way your own window does. Before, an agent could keep playing with files from before a mod update, such as an item table that had since been fixed, and lose every item name in it. Thanks @LilArt420. (#706)

A 24th Anniversary event in the mod registry, and Catherina Von Blood and Bat Von Blood drain on ranged kills.
New
- 24th Anniversary in the registry: kRO's 24th anniversary event. The Coin Exchanger in Prontera hands out 20 daily Attendance Boxes and a 24th Anniversary Gift Box, and trades the anniversary coins for potions, buffs, Tokens of Siegfried, two costume weapons and a Himmelmez wig in your choice of colour. A setting sends the boxes through the game's Attendance Check window instead, as on kRO. It installs from akreao's own repository. Renewal only. Thanks @akreao. (#696)
Fixes
- Catherina Von Blood and Bat Von Blood drain on ranged attacks too: their HP and SP drain on a kill now also works with bows and guns, as on iRO, not only in melee and with magic. Renewal only. Thanks @akreao. (rathena#80 via #698)

The Imperial Guard job change quest and the Memorial Dungeon window, a way for mod scripts to tell which client a player has, and fixes for Episode 18 and 19 quests, the skill window, Druid effects, instant map changes and mod status icons.
New
- Imperial Guard's 4th job change: the Imperial Guard job change quest is in the game. It starts with the King's Knight in Prontera Castle, takes you to the Knight of Devotion and the Knight of Armament in Prontera, and ends in two one-on-one rounds in the Tourney Hall of Trials. Navigation knows its NPCs. Thanks @MondoTruth. (rathena#76 via #683)
- Memorial Dungeon window: creating or entering an instance now shows the Memorial Dungeon window, as the official client does, with its standby position, entry deadline or time limit, and a button to destroy it. Thanks @MondoTruth. (roBrowserLegacy#205 via #684)
Modding
- Scripts can tell which client a player has: a mod's NPC script can call
F_ClientInfoto learn the host's main client and fallback GRF, and their dates, so a feature that needs art from the fallback (Druid sprites on an iRO host with a kRO fallback, say) no longer has to be switched off for every host. (#682) stock_checks = falsealso skips a skill's target checks: a Luaskill()hook that turns off the stock checks now also gets past the skill-specific checks on the target, such as pre-renewal Back Stab's "only from behind", so a mod can let a skill hit another way. The skill's own effect may still check again. Thanks @BlaXun. (rathena#78 via #690, #689)
Fixes
- Episode 18's villa flower door opens: progress bars finished a moment too early, so the server read them as cancelled. The 5-second flower device before the Villa of High Priest's last two bosses never opened the door, which blocked the main quest. (roBrowserLegacy#204 via #679)
- Episode 19 step 5 can be finished: clicking the Book-shaped Box beside Nihil now opens his dialog, where before the box hid him and he couldn't be clicked. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#72 via #681)
- The skill window opens on your current job's tab: after logging in or changing job, the skill window showed the 1st job's skills. It now opens on the tab for the job you are. Thanks @MondoTruth. (roBrowserLegacy#206 via #685)
- Druid skill effects fly at their target: Cutting Wind, Shooting Feather, Pinion Shot, Quill Spear, Sharpen Gust and Roaring Piercer now start at the Druid and fly at the target on whichever side it stands, Low Flight's raptor sweeps in from the Druid's side, and Sharpen Hail's shot lands on the target. Each Druid effect is drawn once instead of twice, and is no longer cut off by the ground. Thanks @akreao. (roBrowserLegacy#207, #208 via #686)
- Instant map changes are really instant: with Map changes set to instant, a teleport on the same map (Teleport, Fly Wing,
@warp) no longer flashes a black frame before the view moves. Thanks @LilArt420. (roBrowserLegacy#209 via #688) - Mods with their own status icons no longer stop the login at 97%: on the iRO client, a mod that adds status icons made the login stop at 97%, because iRO's icon list refuses new names. The mod's icons are now added, and a status icon file that fails to load no longer holds up the login. Thanks @BlaXun. (roBrowserLegacy#210 via #691)

Mod status icons, Lua zeny payments and an MVP card drop rate of their own, with monsters on the newer maps dropping loot again and Druid, Karnos and Alitea growing properly.
New
- MVP cards get a drop rate of their own: Settings → Rates has an MVP card drop rate apart from Card drops, so ordinary cards can be generous while MVP cards stay rare. Until you change it, it follows Card drops, as before. (#665)
- Advanced server settings: a new Advanced box under Rates takes any of rAthena's battle settings as
key: valuelines. Apply tells you which lines the server couldn't read and which sliders a line overrides. (#665)
Modding
- regional-items has left the app's registry: it moves to its author's own repository. Copies already installed keep working, but no longer get updates from here. (#667)
- Status icons of a mod's own: a mod can give its statuses icons the client has never had, numbered 20000–22999, by shipping its own status icon tables; the server sends them and the client shows them with their stack count. A mod file with a Lua error is now left out on its own instead of taking the stock icons with it. See docs/mods/CUSTOM_SKILLS.md. Thanks @BlaXun. (rathena#71, roBrowserLegacy#203, #668 via #670)
- Lua can pay zeny: a mod's Lua hooks can give a player zeny with
c:give_zeny(amount, who), besidec:give_item. It never goes past the most a character can hold. Thanks @BlaXun. (rathena#75 via #676, #674)
Fixes
- Druid, Karnos and Alitea: their HP and SP now grow with level instead of being placeholders, six of their skills cost the SP and AP they do on kRO, and Baby Karnos stops at level 200 like the other baby 4th jobs. The HP and SP are estimated from kRO play where official values aren't known yet. Thanks @akreao. (rathena#70 via #666)
- Newer monsters drop loot again: 124 monsters on the newer maps, such as the Yorker Workers on Jormungandr's base and the Episode 21 sea monsters, dropped nothing but their card because no data source lists their drops. They now drop what their closest relative does, and keep their own card. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#73 via #673)
- Mods that declare the same quest no longer break it: when two mods (or a mod and the stock tables) declared the same quest, every target was added a second time, so the quest log showed each objective twice, and a quest with two or three targets failed to load with "Targets list exceeds the maximum of 3". A quest declared again now just updates its targets. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#74 via #675)

Choose your own command prefix, a smaller and faster client with akreao's performance work, Rune Tablet, Black Sun and the renewal endgame mods in the registry, and World Sync monsters that fight and drop like their peers.
New
- Choose your command prefix, and storage for everyone: Settings → Rates has a new Command prefix, so in-game commands can start with
!or another symbol instead of@, the way many private servers do it. The Player Commands mod can also let accounts without GM rights open their storage with@storage. (#648) - Black Sun in the registry: a Renewal instance on Mt. Mjolnir for a solo player or a party. John Wolf in Prontera starts it, and it runs through three hordes, the Alpha Werewolves and a climb to the Black Sun MVP. It's for base level 200. Thanks @LilArt420. (#650)
- World Sync Extras in the registry: optional extras for World Sync, each behind its own setting: entrances into the World Sync maps (off by default, since they need those maps in your client), 740 official NPCs placed with their own sprite, name and spot, and
@npcplacefor GMs to move an NPC and keep it there. Renewal. Thanks @LilArt420. (#651) - Regional Items 2.0.1: 366 item names no longer end in a database note such as "# !todo check english name". Thanks @LilArt420. (#652)
- Rune Tablet in the registry: the Rune Tablet in its kRO window, with Tablets, an Encyclopedia and Disassembly. You can register runes, build their sets and upgrade them to +15, and break items down into rune materials. It runs on the server's own Rune Tablet, so your progress carries over. The Rune Tablet now stands at Prontera 193,189, with or without the mod. Renewal. Thanks @LilArt420. (#656, Flux159/rathena#68 via #657)
- Renewal endgame mods in the registry: eight pre-renewal mods that take the game from 99 to 175 with renewal's third and expanded classes, lands, monsters, bosses, gear and cards, balanced against pre-renewal. They install from BlaXun's own repositories (ro-endgame-classes and ro-endgame-world). The minibosses and MVPs need 1.6.8. Thanks @BlaXun. (#646)
- Faster map loading and drawing, from akreao's work upstream: akreao's performance work was merged into upstream roBrowserLegacy (MrAntares/roBrowserLegacy#1513–#1521) and comes in with the upstream sync: a map asks for its ground, models and textures as soon as their names are known, windows fetch their art when they're first drawn, the frame limit paces to whole display refreshes, characters and monsters are drawn in a few batched calls from shared sprite and palette atlases, and there's an opt-in performance probe. Also from upstream: long hair stays in front of the body when sitting. Thanks @akreao. (Flux159/roBrowserLegacy#202 via #662)
- A smaller client download: the client's main script is minified and served compressed, about 1.6 MB instead of 3.2 MB. Thanks @akreao. (#600)
- Instant map changes, if you want them: Settings → General → Movement has a new switch, off by default, that drops the fade to and from the loading image on warps, teleports and Fly Wings. The fade is how official clients do it; the switch is for anyone who liked the old snap. (#660)
- Smaller installers: about 20 MB less, from dropping a database plugin the server never uses. (#661)
Modding
- Two mods can both give monsters skills: when two enabled mods each ship
db/mob_skill_db.txt, the app now joins their rows (the later mod's after the earlier's) instead of letting the later file replace the earlier one, so neither mod's monsters lose their skills. Thanks @BlaXun. (#645) - More skills follow a mod's level hook: Prestige, Freezing Spell and Deep Sleep Lullaby now ask a mod's Lua
levelhook (and the Lullaby itsjob_levelhook) instead of reading the base level directly, so a level cap set by a mod applies to them too. With no hook, nothing changes. Thanks @BlaXun. (Flux159/rathena#66 via #647)
Fixes
- Riding characters shown on foot in the stylist and the skill window: while you ride a Peco Peco, a dragon or another mount, the stylist's preview and hair thumbnails and the skill window's sitting figure showed the mount. They now show your character on foot. Thanks @MondoTruth. (#643, Flux159/roBrowserLegacy#199 via #644)
- World Sync monsters show their own sprites: on an iRO client, 289 World Sync monsters (Episode 20/21, Varmundt, Chapter 2) and the training-ground dummies were all drawn as the same stand-in sprite. The client now knows the sprite names of 717 kRO-only monsters and NPC looks, so they appear as themselves when your kRO data has their art. Thanks @LilArt420. (Flux159/roBrowserLegacy#200 via #654)
- The chat keeps its history when you change maps: since 1.6.7, every warp or teleport emptied the chat window's tabs and the Up/Down history of what you'd typed. Both now stay until you go back to character select or quit. Thanks @LilArt420. (Flux159/roBrowserLegacy#201 via #655)
- World Sync monsters fight like their peers: some World Sync monsters had been given the HP, attack and EXP of an unrelated monster, so a normal Yorker Worker had a boss's 207 million HP and 29 high-level monsters hit for 0. Missing values are now estimated from monsters of the same kind near in level and HP. Thanks @LilArt420. (Flux159/rathena#69 via #658)
- World Sync monsters drop what they should: where Divine Pride doesn't show a World Sync monster's drop chances, they're now estimated instead of left out. Thanks @LilArt420. (Flux159/rathena#67 via #659)
Known issues
- The Autoloot mod's menu needs the
@prefix: with another command prefix chosen, the menu of the registry's Autoloot NPC does nothing. Typing the commands yourself still works. (#648)

A big client update brings the Druid line to life, full gamepad menus, the roulette and floating chat tabs, mods get skills of their own, and Dragon Knights have their job change quest.
New
- The Druid line, in the client: Druid, Karnos and Alitea now play fully. They shapeshift into Werewolf and Wereraptor, their skills have kRO's effects and a skill window, and Alitea has its AP bar. The server side arrived in 1.6.4. Thanks @LilArt420. (roBrowserLegacy#171 via #605)
- Dragon Knight job change quest: Rune Knights at Base 200 / Job 70 can take the official quest to become a Dragon Knight, starting with Oscar in
gef_fild08. It's the first of the 4th job quests. Thanks @MondoTruth. (rathena#63 via #638) - Gamepad menus: a controller can now move through every window, use and carry items, switch tabs, close info windows with B and change sliders with the D-pad. An on-screen keyboard, with a wheel mode and saved phrases, lets you chat without a keyboard. Thanks @BlaXun. (roBrowserLegacy#177–#180 via #605)
- Start walking before the server answers: an option under Settings → General → Movement, off by default. Your character sets off the moment you click, and other characters and monsters glide to where the server puts them instead of jumping. Thanks @akreao. (roBrowserLegacy#163 via #605, #639)
- Roulette: the roulette window now loads its rewards and works start to finish: spin, claim, and pick up where you left off. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#193, #195 via #605)
- Floating chat tabs, and the message log settings match them. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#150 via #605)
- Catalog store search: search the catalog and act on the results. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#194 via #605)
- Cloth colours follow hair colours where the client has no cloth palette of its own, instead of drawing black blots. Thanks @MondoTruth. (roBrowserLegacy#198 via #605)
- Monster and NPC titles are drawn under their names. Thanks @MondoTruth. (roBrowserLegacy#197 via #605)
- NPC music: NPCs that play a song now play it. Thanks @BlaXun. (roBrowserLegacy#173, #611)
- Smoother map changes: the next map loads while the screen fades to the loading image, and post-processing stays on across map changes. Thanks @akreao. (roBrowserLegacy#156, #160 via #605)
- Halloween Town in the registry: a Halloween event map with its own NPCs, prizes and bats, installed from LilArt's releases. Thanks @LilArt420. (#636)
- The 2026-10-15 upstream roBrowserLegacy update, with its fixes to water and sprite depth, capes and robes, the Warper's circle and more. (roBrowserLegacy#170 via #605)
Modding
- Skills, passives and statuses of a mod's own: a mod can add new skills a job learns, passives with stat and combat hooks, statuses with stacks and icons, combo windows, and rework or take away stock skills without costing players their points, all in Lua. The client shows them through the mod's own skill tables. See the new Custom skills guide and the
custom-skillsandthird-class-samplerexamples. Thanks @BlaXun. (rathena#52, roBrowserLegacy#176, #618) - Achievement tables: a mod adds achievements beside the client's instead of replacing its whole table. See the new Custom achievements guide. Thanks @BlaXun. (roBrowserLegacy#174, #614)
- NPC music from scripts:
playBGMfrom an NPC script now reaches the client. Thanks @BlaXun. (roBrowserLegacy#173, #611)
Fixes
- Windows updates stay where you installed the app: an app installed on another drive could update into the default folder and leave the copy you use on the old version. Updates now install over the folder the app runs from. This applies to updates made from 1.6.7 onwards, so the update to 1.6.7 itself can still land in the default folder once. Thanks @Kdye116 for reporting it. (#640, fixes #632)
- Forced disconnects return to the login screen cleanly instead of leaving the game stuck. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#151 via #605)
- Trading: zeny can go alongside ten items, and item pictures stay on their own rows. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#189, #191 via #605)
- Vending and buying stores: vending windows drag together, Escape cancels a store you were setting up, and buying-store rows update after a trade. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#185–#187 via #605)
- Newer clients: September 2026 packet framing, wider item ids in companion feeding, guild emblems that stay current, and effects that honour their start delay and sound loops. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (roBrowserLegacy#181–#184, #188, #190, #192 via #605)
- The Purple Star footprint no longer makes everyone vanish after a kill. Thanks @LilArt420. (roBrowserLegacy#175 via #605)
- Smaller fixes: the minimap skips town services with no icon, signboards are dropped on a warp within the same map, and crowds make less garbage each frame. Thanks @akreao. (roBrowserLegacy#152–#154, #167, #168, #196 via #605)
Known issues
- With move prediction on, a refused step shows: when the server turns a step down, for instance right after you are hit, your character visibly walks back to where the server has it. It's off by default.

v1.6.6
Download: macOS (Apple Silicon) · Windows · Linux (AppImage)
The world gets bigger with 105 more maps and 458 more monsters, and the regional items from 1.6.4 now have proper names, sprites and descriptions.
New
- A fuller world: 105 official maps that the game client already carried but the server never loaded (the Chapter 2 safe zones, the Abyss and Biosphere maps, Jormungandr's temple and more) are now open, with their monsters, spawns, portals, transport and service NPCs. 458 monsters that were missing are filled in, and navigation knows the new monsters, NPCs and warps. Prontera also gets a Rune Tablet NPC (Prontera 140,190) for kRO's Rune Book, rune sets, upgrades and decomposition. Only maps rAthena adds or doesn't use are touched, and pre-renewal is unchanged. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#54 via #635)
- Regional Items in the registry: a new Renewal mod gives the regional items from 1.6.4 their client text: English names and descriptions for 237 kRO-only items, iRO's wording for 8 items such as Fifth Element and Mask of Ifrit, and names, sprites and stat descriptions for 3,582 items that showed as "Unknown Item". Thanks @LilArt420. (#633)

v1.6.5

Episode 19 arrives with its maps, monsters and quests, mods get Lua player hooks, and friends playing over the internet load faster and stay connected.
New
- Episode 19: the Episode 19 maps, monsters, NPCs, quests and items from rAthena are in the game, and navigation knows its new monsters, NPCs and warps. Thanks @LilArt420. (rathena#53 via #630)
Modding
- Lua player hooks: a mod's Lua can now decide what a player's base stats count for (a soft cap, for instance) with
player({ base_stat = ... }), and which DEX the cast-time and skill-delay formulas read withcast_dex, including renewal's variable cast time. With no hook, nothing changes. Thanks @BlaXun. (rathena#62 via #630)
Fixes
- Starting the game waits for the servers to really be ready: start-up and restarts could say the game was ready while the character server hadn't yet signed in to the login server, so the first login could fail. The app now waits for both, and a server that has stopped fails the start instead of hanging. Thanks @Dizzzlectic. (#624)
- Friends load faster when they come back: a friend playing over the internet no longer downloads every game file again on each visit. Their browser keeps the files and only checks they haven't changed, so a returning friend starts in a few seconds. Thanks @akreao. (#599)
- Friends stay connected: the sharing tunnel now runs over HTTP/2 instead of QUIC, which dropped the connection every few minutes during long sessions and left a friend "disconnected from server". Thanks @akreao. (#602)
Known issues
- A saved buff can come back as a different one, once: Episode 19 adds a status in the middle of rAthena's list, so a buff a character had at logout from the statuses after it comes back once as a different status after updating. It happens only this once. (rathena#53)
