Checklist
Affected app version
Contacts v1.1.0
Affected Android/Custom ROM version
Android 12
Affected device model
Motorola Edge 30 Neo
How did you install the app?
F-Droid / IzzyOnDroid
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Enable automatic backups. Use the file picker to select a directory on the SD card, such as /sdcard/backup/Contacts
- Observe that the Contacts app makes daily contact backups to the chosen location.
- Observe that somehow, the backups stop after a couple of weeks.
Expected behavior
Automatic backups should work at all times if this feature was enabled by the user in the Contacts app's options.
Actual behavior
Automatic backups stop being made after a while (can be weeks or months).
Screenshots/Screen recordings
No response
Additional information
I'm not sure what triggers the problem. Perhaps a reboot triggered it? I don't know. Even after observing the problem, I have made sure that automatic backups were still enabled in the Contacts app, but no new backups were made for days. Then I disabled and re-enabled it automatic backups and this resumed the automatic backups, so this seems to be a usable workaround. (I may also have pressed the 'manage backups' button to choose which contact sources to backup, but I'm not sure whether I did that and whether this matters, as nothing changed there.)
