Pico W and Pico 2 W boards are now supported as thin-client frames, including the Pimoroni Inky Frame 7.3" Spectra 6 preset.
Self-hosted backends now list Pico .uf2 firmware alongside ESP32 .bin and Raspberry Pi SD image assets, so the admin UI can offer the right flashing flow for Pico boards.
Thin-client frames such as Pico boards and PSRAM-less ESP32 boards now use the backend renderer for scene state and events, so scene switches and control events can work without an on-device scene runtime.
The workspace AI chat can now turn frames and installed scenes it mentions into clickable links, and the chat drawer URL reflects the active chat.
Bug fixes
ESP32 OTA updates are more resilient: a dropped Wi-Fi connection during a firmware download can be resumed instead of starting over.
ESP32 firmware update failures now report clearer reasons, including Wi-Fi disconnect causes and named OTA download errors.
Deploy progress now treats an ota:error reported after boot as a failed firmware deploy instead of letting the deploy appear to continue.
Thin-client rendering no longer gets stuck on the diagnostic card when the backend has a stale active-scene id for a scene that no longer exists.
Scene events sent to queued thin-client frames are now held for the next backend render instead of being sent as events the device firmware cannot execute.
Pico frames no longer get ESP32 partition-layout details or OTA warnings just because their flash size matches an ESP32 layout.
The Pimoroni Inky Frame 7.3" Spectra preset now includes the Pico-specific shift-register, busy, and power-latch pin settings needed by that board.
On self-hosted backends, clicking the rail logo now opens /home, matching the cloud UI.
Maintenance
Release publishing now signs Pico .uf2 firmware assets before attaching them to the GitHub release.
Added host-side tests for Pico firmware parsers, hotspot/status code, flash state handling, and related portable firmware pieces.
Added host-side tests for ESP32 OTA download resume and error bookkeeping.
CI now runs the Pico firmware host tests before building Pico W and Pico 2 W firmware.
Updated the Flox environment and build/test plumbing used by contributors and release automation.
FrameOS Cloud
Cloud AI chat can link to frames and installed scenes it names, so you can jump straight from a chat answer to the referenced frame or scene.
Cloud chat drawer URLs now identify the active chat, making chat links/bookmarks more useful.
