New features

  • The built-in status / “no scenes installed” screen now shows more useful setup details on the frame: the card’s real hostname, IP address, and local access link.
  • Frames showing a pending FrameOS Cloud link code now include the code and QR as part of the status screen layout, rather than relying only on a generic overlay.

Bug fixes

  • The FrameOS Cloud link code no longer covers the status screen rows. On landscape displays it sits beside the status details; on portrait displays it appears below them.
  • Frames linking to FrameOS Cloud now introduce themselves using their configured name, or the card’s hostname when the image still says “FrameOS Setup”, so cloud enrollment uses a recognizable frame name.
  • Cloud-managed frames now clear any leftover queued link-code request and will not keep trying to show or restart a stale setup link code after enrollment.
  • Fresh Buildroot / cloud-personalized cards can now apply their configured time zone through the privileged helper, fixing cases where the frame stayed on UTC.
  • First-boot setup and upgrades are more tolerant of a busy systemd startup: systemctl daemon-reload and service enablement are retried before setup fails.
  • frameos --version, frameos -v, and frameos version now print the compiled version and exit instead of accidentally starting another FrameOS runtime.

Maintenance

  • Added automated coverage for the status screen link-code layout, cloud enrollment display names, queued link-code cleanup, privileged time-zone changes, and setup command retries.
  • Updated bench/manual testing notes for recent OTA, driver-loading, setup, and free-space validation runs.
  • Release housekeeping for FrameOS 2026.9.7.

FrameOS Cloud

  • Re-enrolling a frame now uses the time zone from its bound cloud token, so refreshed enrollments keep the intended local time.
