updated.

Describe the bug

the freezes happen for a few seconds but resumes to normal state.
freezing when opening apps that use the dgpu, switching to an app that uses the dgpu.
more noticeable when having muitlple apps open but aren't always using the dgpu when in background.
less freezing when power is plugged in.

having a game open in background makes freezing stop. (or anything constantly using dgpu for that matter.)
it doesn't matter for the amount of screens being used, they all freeze.

Steps To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. load os as normal.
  2. open app that uses dgpu(something like zed or blender)
  3. freezes for a few seconds.
  4. back to normal but screen moved foward a bit.

Expected behavior

no freeze.

Screenshots

If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

  • wish i could, i may consider recording a video on phone to display issue.(i will do if someone wants one.)

Operating System (please complete the following information):

  • OS/Distribution: kubuntu
  • Version: 26.04
  • Linux Kernel Version: 7.0.0-27-generic

sometimes used os:(aka i only use this when i do vr - not often - and so i don't notice much with the instaltion)

  • OS: windows 10.
  • used for vr and any games that i can't access on linux.
  • no noticeable freezing.

Additional context

this issue only started for me after updating to 26.04.
there is a chance that it could be the kernel or the os.(i only just noticed the kernel, again, and so it could be that.)
i have updated to 4.05 bios since updating to 26.04 and nothing has changed.

i do also see this being a potential driver issue although i'm not sure.

  • i am also more of a linux beginner so i may not understand how to do stuff. -- i daily drive linux but don't know too much about doing the more advanced stuff.
