v 0.5 - The Print-Ready Update

This is a major feature release that transforms the GridMethod tool from a simple line-drawing utility into a powerful pre-press tool for artists. The focus is on preparing images for physical printing with accurate sizing and high quality.

New: Output Formatting & Previews: Users can now select a standard paper size (A5, A4, A3, A2, A1) from a dropdown menu.

  • The canvas will update to show a preview of how the source image fits within the chosen aspect ratio, adding letterbox/pillarbox bars where necessary.

  • Orientation controls (Portrait/Landscape) automatically appear, with a smart default based on the source image's shape.

New: High-Resolution 300 DPI Export

  • The download functionality has been completely overhauled. Instead of downloading the on-screen preview, the tool now generates a brand-new, print-quality 300 DPI PNG file in the background.
  • The dimensions of the downloaded file correspond to the true physical size of the selected paper format (e.g., A4 at 300 DPI is 2480 x 3508 pixels).

New: Dynamic & Descriptive Filenames

  • Downloaded files are now automatically and intelligently named based on the user's settings.
  • The filename includes the paper format, orientation, and any custom grid spacing applied (e.g., image-A4-portrait-2cm_grid.png), making it easy to manage multiple versions.

Improvement: UI & UX Overhaul

  • To support the new features, the UI now includes the format dropdown and orientation radio buttons.
  • The "Download Image" button now provides feedback, changing its text to "Generating..." during the high-resolution export process to inform the user that work is being done.

Improvement: State Management for Line Drawing

◦
Users can now stack multiple line-drawing commands. For example, you can apply a 4x4 grid and then also add a diamond pattern on top, and both will be present in the preview and the final high-resolution download. The "Clear Lines" button resets this stack.
