freetheai 0.1.0 (Python SDK)

First release of the FreeTheAI Python SDK, the official client for the free, OpenAI-compatible FreeTheAI API.

Install with pip install freetheai.

What's in it

• Chat completions, plain and streamed, with the OpenAI Chat Completions shape returned as plain dictionaries.
• Models, web search, sourced answers, and image and video tasks.
• Sync (FreeTheAI) and async (AsyncFreeTheAI) clients with the same options and methods.

Built for the FreeTheAI API

• Busy models wait for Retry-After or move to your fallback_models at once.
• The account's concurrency limit is learned on the first refusal, and extra calls queue instead of failing.
• Non-streamed chats are fetched as a stream and assembled, so long replies do not hit idle timeouts.
• Cut-off streams raise StreamInterruptedError with the partial text.
• Daily check-in and daily limit errors are raised at once, with the link or reset time.
• Mistyped model IDs come back with suggestions, and a missing fta/ prefix is fixed automatically.
• Keys are cleaned of quotes and Bearer , and a partial key fails before any request is sent.
