When you use ChatCLI we collect:
- Account information — your username, email address, account status, and other details you provide during registration or profile updates.
- Usage data — message history, login records, and other activity generated while using the service.
Collected information is used to:
- Provide and operate the ChatCLI service.
- Send account-related emails (verification codes, password resets).
- Improve the service using aggregated, non-personally identifiable data.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
You may at any time:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Receive a copy of your collected information.
- Correct inaccurate records.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Restrict how your data is processed.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at chatcli.official+support@gmail.com or open an issue on GitHub.
Retention duration depends on the type of information and how it is stored. Message history is retained for as long as your account exists. Account data is deleted when you request account deletion.
As noted in our Terms of Service, messages are stored long-term and are accessible only by the database root user and the server-side application. Messages are not encrypted at rest at this time.
If you connect to a self-hosted instance of ChatCLI, the operator of that instance controls the data retention and privacy practices for that server. This policy applies only to the official instance at chat.puam.be.
