Downloads

  • Volumey_2.1.0.0_x64.zip: everything included, starts on any Windows 10/11 PC (64-bit). The in-app update uses this one.
  • Volumey_2.1.0.0_x64_framework-dependent.zip: smaller, but requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime (x64). Without it, Windows asks you to install it before Volumey starts.
  • Or get it from the Microsoft Store, which keeps it up to date.

Changes since 2.0.0.0

New

  • Mouse hotkeys: a mouse button or wheel direction, with or without modifier keys (#31)
  • Mute hotkeys for single apps and the foreground app
  • Level meters in the mixer's sliders
  • OSD when the default output device changes, or a device is plugged in while none was connected
  • "Show the device picker" setting: off, the mixer shows the default device (#97)

Changed

  • Window mode fits its height to the apps each time it opens (#97)
  • The mixer's "make default" button has its 1.x icon again; the device list marks the default device with a "Default" label (#96)
  • Plugged-in devices and format changes are read off the UI thread (no UI stall on device changes)

Fixed

  • A message in Settings when settings can't be saved; settings read at startup are kept when the first save fails
  • A warning when Windows or security software blocks "Start with Windows"
  • The tray icon comes back when Explorer refuses or loses it
  • The tray's Sound settings item is hidden when Windows can't open it; the mixer falls back to the Sound control panel
  • An app hotkey held by another app no longer stops the app's other hotkey
  • Devices Windows refuses for a moment are read again
  • Crashes: an app exiting (NullReferenceException), a denied registry read in WPF's text services
  • A missing Windows Audio service is logged once instead of every hour
