Welcome to the wiki for my personal website! This wiki covers how you can deploy your own version of this website, customized for you! I have a version of this deployed at my personal website, https://www.geraldmcalister.com.

Setup

There are two parts to setting up the project: The base setup, and the deployment. First, follow the steps to do the base setup, then select either the Static Deployment or the Dynamic Deployment depending on which you want.

Base Setup

You will need to do these steps, no matter which setup type you use!

1. Fork the project for yourself. You can keep the repository private and still deploy it!
2. Modify all of the configuration files in the configs folder to your desired settings (including the sitemap.xml file!) See the different configuration files' details on the navigation panel to the right.
3. If you decide to use a purely static site, ensure that you have provided a valid email for the user_email variable and have said whether you are using formspree_gold. Otherwise fill out the dynamic variables.

Note that if you are using Formspree Gold, you will need to supply a Google Recaptcha key as well!

After doing the base setup and configuring the project for yourself, you will need to then choose which type of deployment you wish to do:

• Static Deployment
• Dynamic Deployment

This is the repository for my personal website. It's currently designed with an engineering-centric focus for the first iteration. Pages like the Projects Page have some clear bias as the cards really only have tags for engineering projects. Going forward, this will be generalized so that you can define these elsewhere, in order to allow other fields to use this template too (for example: videographers could put demo reels up instead with relevant tags).

It's designed to be pretty static, so that it can be easily deployed to an AWS S3 bucket, or via GitHub Pages. The exception to this is the contact page, which has two options: A static version that reveals your email address only in the code, and a dynamic one that requires an AWS Lambda setup to utilize.

Note that the email provided in the configuration is an anti-spam email! Do not try to send emails to it.
