Podium 0.1.3
Released 2026-10-19. Tag v0.1.3. The full list of changes is in
CHANGELOG.md; the decisions behind them are D-84 to D-90 in
decision-log.md.
Podium 0.1.3 adds full screen, live radio, YouTube channel choice, sound effects and Apple
Lossless on every phone, with a new icon.
What's new
- Full screen: Settings ▸ Full screen hides Android's status and navigation bars. The title
bar then shows the time, and the battery unless you turn it off. - Choose your channel: if your Google account has several YouTube channels, pick the one
Podium uses in Settings ▸ YouTube Music ▸ Channel. - Live radio: Online ▸ Live radio has music stations streaming live now, by genre. Audio
only, at the same quality as songs; Next goes to the next station. - Sound effects: Settings ▸ Equaliser ▸ Effect has Car stereo, 3D hall and 8D.
- Apple Lossless (ALAC) plays on every phone, even ones without their own ALAC decoder.
Changed
- A new app icon: the "P" of the Podium wordmark.
- Text stays at Podium's own size whatever the phone's font settings, so the wheel's symbols
never turn into boxes. - Cover Flow goes by artist, then album.
Fixed
- Lyrics no longer say "Too many requests" so often: Podium waits as long as the lyrics service
asks, then tries again by itself.

Podium 0.1.2
Podium 0.1.2 adds a sleep timer, a built-in equaliser, crossfade and a new cover slide. It
also fixes the YouTube Music sign-in that could keep loading.
What's new
- Sleep timer: stops the music after 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, at the end of the song or
at the end of the album. The last 10 seconds fade out before it pauses. In Now Playing ▸ More
and in Settings. - Equaliser: ten bands from 31 Hz to 16 kHz, thirteen presets or your own curve. Each band
is set with the Wheel and heard as you turn. In Settings. - Crossfade: songs overlap by 2 to 12 seconds. An album's tracks that run into each other
stay gapless. In Settings, off until you turn it on. - Cover slide: whenever a new song starts, the playing cover slides off to the left as the
next comes in from the right, even when both share a cover. Previous runs the other way. - Go to album and Go to an artist in Now Playing ▸ More, with one entry for each artist, for
local and online songs alike. - Now Playing says when the sound comes from a video: "Audio from the music video" or "Audio
from a video".
Changed
- A song played from search is followed by songs like it, not by the rest of the search results.
- Search lists songs first, then albums. Among albums, full albums come before EPs and singles.
Fixed
- Sign-in that kept loading after the password or 2-step verification. A failed account
check no longer reloads the page and checks again in a loop: it says what went wrong, with Try
again and Start over. - Closing or turning the sign-in screen during the account check no longer leaves the account
stuck on "Signing in". - On a slow connection, sign-in now says after 15 seconds that the check can take a while. The
check isn't cut short. - Sign-in keeps watching for the session on every page of Google's sign-in, not just for the
first minute. - In regions where YouTube Music shows a consent page first, the account check now gets through.
- A session the phone can't store securely is refused with a message instead of crashing the app.
- Go to album and Go to an artist now appear for online songs. A song's album and artist pages
are looked up when a list leaves them out. A failed lookup is tried again, and what a lookup
finds is kept.
Known limitations
- The sign-in and Go to fixes are covered by tests, but not yet confirmed on a phone. The
sign-in issue on GitHub stays open until they are. - How closely crossfade lines the two songs up hasn't been measured on a phone.
- With the equaliser on, the sound is no longer bit-for-bit what the file holds. The quality
label still describes the source.

Podium 0.1.1
Podium 0.1.1 delivers critical improvements to online streaming authentication, persistent sessions, and startup stability.
What's new & fixed
- Persistent YouTube Music session: Signed-in credentials are now securely encrypted with the Android Keystore and restored across app restarts, force-stops, and phone reboots.
- Resilient sign-in: Added multi-trigger cookie detection, lifecycle-aware polling, manual "Check sign-in" action, support for Google 2-Step Verification, and recognition of regional Google authentication hostnames.
- Cold-start crash fix: Resolved a startup crash (NullPointerException) during signed-in cold start caused by repository property initialization order.
- Startup deadlock prevention: Replaced synchronous User-Agent queries with non-blocking initialization to eliminate startup ANRs during WebView setup.
