Magnus 7.0 RC1
While the interface still doesn't quite handle complex interchanges (I'm working on it), the application does work well for scene setup demonstrations. Version 8 will close the gap. I am bench testing the app against the Springfield Interchange (Virginia), aka the 'mixing bowl' and it still doesn't get the ramps right. It is a tall order. Just teaching an AI what a gore area is can be quite challenging. But I recently developed another tool to just do that. It lets me map out the various highway markings and edges to define what a gore area is supposed to be so that the AI can figure out how to take the imported data and make meaningful merges from on-ramps and off ramps with the proper lane markings.
But for now, version 7 is at least stable and well designed. It has a ton of features and can even compile the communications we use in the NRO for various scene types. Communications is 50% of this job anyway. If I can get new recruits to understand scene setup and how to parse the communications, they can more easily transition into solo patrol. That is the goal anyway. And for that task, version 7 is ready to go.
